Chapter 274: Chapter 274: Mr. Sang Senior Had an Accident

“When faced with such hypothetical questions, Sang Qiao didn’t know how to answer, but she didn’t want to dwell on the past anymore. She turned her gaze away and moved her lips, ‘Grandpa, look forward, don’t cling to the past anymore.'”

“Okay, look forward,” Mr. Sang Senior wiped his tears and told himself that this was already very good.

Qiaoqiao still recognized him, bore no hatred towards the Sang Family, and was going to marry Si Chenli. Things would only get better in the future.

“People from Chenli’s side just contacted . They said the wedding dress will be sent over later, and soone will co to do your makeup tomorrow morning. Have you decided on Ah He and who else will be bridesmaids? See if you want to invite them to stay over as well. It’ll be easier to leave together tomorrow.”

“I’ll make a call and ask in a while.”

“Okay.”

Sang Siyang just leaned against the wall that divided them, listening to the discussions inside. He pushed himself up from the ground and walked outside the villa, deciding not to go in as he had heard what he needed and did not want to bother anyone.

He had just walked out of the villa’s main gate when he ran into the approaching car of Sang Shen.

Sang Shen got out of the car, puzzled, looking at his younger brother, “Isn’t Qiaoqiao at the old house? Where are you going?”

“Being there would only add to her stress and make Grandpa uncomfortable. Knowing she is getting married and seeing her once is enough; there is no need to appear in front of her.”

Sang Siyang’s lips, dry and chapped, parted and closed, voicing words devoid of any emotion yet using all his energy. He finally realized that his desire to see Qiaoqiao was rely a nuisance to her.

Then he wouldn’t appear at all, just quietly watch her from a distance.

Sang Shen’s fingertips trembled at these words, his unwillingness to admit it now blatantly voiced by his younger brother.

“Does she really like Si Chenli?”

Sang Siyang: “Perhaps. Si Chenli dotes on her plenty, and she will be very happy. It has always been us needing her, not the other way around.”

Sang Shen looked at the villa, so close yet unable to see the person inside clearly.

They had only played with Qiaoqiao when they were kids, defended her when their mother was harsh towards her, yet Qiaoqiao had devoted herself wholeheartedly to them for over a decade.

Sang Shen opened the car door and got back in, “I’m heading ho, do you want a ride?”

“Okay.” Sang Siyang didn’t hesitate and got in as well. They gave up even those last remnants of hope.

They would no longer expect to see Qiaoqiao during holidays or special occasions, to exchange even a word. They… chose to watch over her silently from behind the scenes.

Completely withdrawing from her world.

On the day of the wedding

Early in the morning, the entire villa was bustling; Sang Siyang and Sang Shen were nowhere to be found in the living room, only Sang Nanfeng and Sang Qingran were sitting.

Sang Nanfeng, holding his phone, saw the screen light up and walked briskly outside.

Sang Qingran looked at his younger sister dressed in a wedding gown. mories of her as a child saying she wanted to carry her on his back at her own wedding surfaced, his nose tingled with emotion, and he took his phone and went to the bathroom.

“Are ng Jiahe and ng Wangge, the two bridesmaids, here? Soone downstairs wants to talk to you beforehand about what you need to do at the wedding venue. Do you have ti right now?”

A young man in a suit with a red bowtie stood at the door, politely looking into the room.

ng Jiahe furrowed her brows. Why hadn’t the training been held last night? She looked unwillingly at Sang Qiao and turned to the young man. “Can you let my sister go with you? I’ll stay with the bride and she can fill in on the details later.”

“That might be a bit difficult,” responded the young man, his face filled with reluctance. “We have a wedding venue layout we want to show you where to walk from and to, but we only have one copy and can’t leave it with you.”

Feeling sowhat embarrassed by his predicant, ng Jiahe suggested, “How about you co to the room for the training? We can’t leave the bride alone on her wedding day, right?”

“But… others need training too,” the young man said, even more distressed.

“It’s okay, go ahead,” Sang Qiao chid in with a light laugh. She didn’t mind waiting by herself in the room.

“All right, I’ll co back as soon as I can. Qiaoqiao, if you need anything, just call . Si Chenli should be here in another hour.”

ng Jiahe stood up, giving a reminder before reluctantly following the young man.

“Um, okay.”

After ng Jiahe and ng Wangge left, only Sang Qiao remained in the room.

She couldn’t help but smile as she looked at a recent ssage from Si Chenli on her phone. Before she could close the chat, a call ca in, labeled: Grandpa.

Without hesitating, Sang Qiao answered the call. An anxious male voice on the other end asked, “Hello, are you related to this elderly gentleman? He just ran across a zebra crossing holding a bunch of gift flowers and got hit by a car. He’s covered in blood, and soone has already called an ambulance. Please co quickly.”

Sang Qiao’s fingers twitched as she maintained her composure. “Where are you located?”

“Right across from the Xingfu Flower Shop on this zebra crossing. Please hurry, he’s breathing very weakly and keeps muttering your na. I’m afraid if we’re too late…”

“Okay.” Sang Qiao hung up and ran outside. Her wedding dress, with its voluminous skirt, was heavy and hindered her movent.

But she couldn’t think about changing clothes now. Sang Qingran had just co out of the restroom and saw a white gown rushing out the front door of the villa.

He frowned, feeling the running figure looked familiar… like Qiaoqiao, but then thought it impossible since Si Chenli would be arriving soon to pick her up.

Sang Qiao quickly arrived at the zebra crossing, where a large pool of blood marked the ground, but no one was there. She stopped at the roadside, her legs weak.

She slowly walked toward the bloodstain, dialing her grandfather’s phone.

Only a busy tone answered her call.

As she stood by the blood, a car suddenly stopped, and Sang Nanfeng’s head popped out.

“Qiaoqiao, you’re here too? Did soone notify you as well? Grandpa’s been taken in the ambulance. Hurry and get in, I’ll take you there.”

“Is Grandpa…” Sang Qiao felt fear in her heart for the first ti.

“He’s still being resuscitated. It’s not looking good. Hurry up, Qiaoqiao. If the old man can’t see you one last ti, he’ll be heartbroken,” Sang Nanfeng said, bowing his head.

“Drive faster.” Sang Qiao could no longer hesitate. She opened the car door, slid into the back seat, and her massive bridal gown almost filled the entire backseat.

Seeing the white wedding dress she was wearing, she rembered to send a ssage to Si Chenli.

[Grandpa had an accident, I’m going to the hospital first. Don’t co to pick up; I’ll head straight to the wedding venue later.]

The ssage kept spinning as it tried to send. Her delicate brows furrowed. This was a main road; why was the signal so poor? The bars were nearly nonexistent.

All she could do was raise her phone higher and move closer to the window, trying to send the ssage.
