anwhile, at the Rhonia branch of CZ Group.
After personally signing an important contract, Adrian Sutton held a eting at the company.
The eting had only just begun ten minutes prior.
His phone screen lit up, showing a new ssage.
According to his usual habits and work ethic, he would never check ssages or answer calls during a eting.
The only exception was if the ssage or call was from Claire rcer.
He rembered that before he left ho, Claire had told him she would text to confirm whether she was coming ho for lunch.
So, he picked up his phone and checked the ssage.
It was, indeed, from Claire. One ssage said she might have to go to the modeling agency to find Stella Thorne at noon.
The other was a string of text that couldn’t even be called a sentence, as the words were completely jumbled and nonsensical. They were just a few unrelated characters.
Adrian Sutton’s brow furrowed slightly.
Claire’s ssages to him were always perfectly normal.
She never sent a single wasted word.
’What could she possibly an by sending this?’
’Did the rcer Family set another trap for her? Is this a signal for help?’
With that thought, Adrian Sutton imdiately called Claire rcer.
The call went through, but no one answered.
This confird it for Adrian Sutton. Claire rcer was likely in trouble.
He imdiately stopped the eting, walked out, and urgently summoned Hughes.
"Have the tech departnt track Claire’s phone location imdiately. I want it done as fast as possible."
Hughes nodded, made a call to the director of the tech departnt, and then said to Adrian Sutton,
"Boss, I found sothing out about Mr. Lawton from Horizon Group."
Adrian Sutton didn’t break stride on his way to the elevators. "I don’t have ti to hear about him right now."
Hughes had to practically jog to keep up with his urgent pace. "Boss, it’s related to your wife."
Upon hearing that, Adrian Sutton stopped in his tracks, his eyes narrowing.
He turned back to look at Hughes. "What is it?"
"Boss, I’ve found that this Mr. Lawton is an extrely promiscuous womanizer."
"He had his eyes on your wife two years ago."
"But at that ti, your wife was suddenly ’married’ to Gavin Sinclair."
"He didn’t dare offend the Sinclair Family, so he never got the chance to make a move on her."
"A few days ago, he saw online that your wife had broken ties with the Sinclair Family. Now that she no longer had their protection, he started targeting her again."
"The reason Julian rcer suddenly backed out of the rcer Group acquisition is that this Mr. Lawton offered an investnt partnership on one condition: that the rcer Family hand over your wife to him as part of the deal..."
By this point, a raging fire had ignited in Adrian Sutton’s chest.
The look in his eyes was colder and more piercing than the air swirling over a ten-thousand-year-old glacier.
It was a gaze that could freeze a man solid on the spot.
Hughes was so frightened by his boss’s current state that a cold sweat broke out on his back.
He hardly dared to breathe.
Yet he had to steel himself and continue his detailed report.
The sheer force of Adrian Sutton’s presence was so overwhelming that Hughes felt an imnse sense of pressure.
Though he didn’t stumble over his words, his voice was audibly trembling as he continued.
"To bring the rcer Group back from the brink, Julian rcer and his wife agreed to Mr. Lawton’s demand."
"A few days ago, they had already decided to marry your wife off to this Mr. Lawton. Both parties had co to an agreent."
"However, your wife suddenly registering her marriage with you completely ruined their plans."
"When this Mr. Lawton learned that your wife had married you, he called Julian rcer and his wife that very day, demanding an explanation."
"According to what we’ve found, after being threatened by Mr. Lawton, Julian rcer promised to deliver your wife to him as soon as possible..."
’I knew the rcer Family wouldn’t give up so easily.’
’I just didn’t expect them to move so fast.’
’Telling Claire to go sign the adoption termination agreent today... it was just bait for her.’
’Their real target was Claire herself.’
He thought of how Claire rcer had gone to the rcer Family’s ho right after breakfast.
And then there was that garbled ssage she had just sent him...
The unease in Adrian Sutton’s heart grew more and more intense.
’Julian rcer and Judith Caldwell are practically asking to die.’
’I had only planned to acquire the rcer Group and give it to Claire.’
’I never intended to completely annihilate the rcer Family.’
’But Julian rcer and Judith Caldwell clearly think they’ve lived too long and had it too easy.’
’If that’s the case, then I’ll just have to shatter all their hopes and dreams.’
Hughes cautiously raised his eyes to glance at Adrian Sutton.
Then he continued in a quavering voice, "Boss, I also discovered that Mr. Lawton’s ex-wife divorced him because he was fooling around and caught a venereal disease."
At these words, Adrian Sutton beca absolutely livid.
’A scumbag like that dares to covet my Claire.’
’He has a venereal disease and still wants to force my Claire to marry him.’
’He’s suicidal, and he wants to drag my Claire down with him...’
’Since he’s so eager to die, I’ll make sure he can never be a man again.’
"Two things."
"First, set a trap for Julian rcer and his wife."
"I want the rcer Group bankrupt as quickly as possible."
"And I want Julian rcer and his wife saddled with a debt they can never repay."
Hughes: "Understood."
"Second, this Mr. Lawton has a venereal disease, so he’s bound to seek treatnt."
"Since he dared to target Claire, find a way to make sure he can never be a man again."
"Understood."
’It was a bit ruthless, but this Mr. Lawton knew he had a disease and continued to sleep around anyway.’
’He was clearly trying to intentionally infect more people.’
’He really should be cut off at the source.’
’Better to stop him from using his wealth and power to harm more innocent won.’
By the ti he finished giving his instructions to Hughes, the elevator had reached the underground garage.
’Right now, the most important thing is to rescue Claire as soon as possible.’
Opening the car door, Adrian Sutton asked, "Have you found my wife’s location?"
Hughes, clutching a tablet, got into the car.
"I have it. Her last known location was the underground garage of Celestine Tower."
"Oh, and Boss, that Mr. Lawton has an apartnt on the top floor of Celestine Tower."
Before he could even finish, Adrian Sutton slamd his foot on the accelerator.
Hughes, who hadn’t buckled his seatbelt yet, was nearly thrown from his seat.
The car shot out of the garage, racing toward Celestine Tower.
A drive that should have taken half an hour, he completed in less than twenty minutes, arriving at the underground garage of Celestine Tower.
In the underground garage, her inconspicuous electric car was parked in a spot.
Not daring to waste a single second, Adrian Sutton made a beeline for the elevators.
Hughes scurried along behind him.
The elevator was actually ascending quite quickly.
But to Adrian Sutton, it felt like an eternity.
Finally, the elevator stopped at the top floor.
He strode out, and Hughes imdiately took the lead.
Celestine Tower was an office building, but the entire top floor had been leased by Mr. Lawton.
He had renovated it, converting it into several oversized presidential suites.
The purpose of converting office space into luxury suites was self-evident.
