A cold light glinted in Claire rcer’s clear eyes.

The curve of her lips was filled with contempt.

She smiled, but it was a smile that carried the biting chill of a ten-thousand-year-old glacier.

"Oh, noble Mr. rcer, do you think I *wanted* to co to your house?"

"Do you think I *wanted* to argue with your precious son?"

"Didn’t you see he was the one who provoked ? Are your eyes just for decoration?"

"If you’re not going to use your eyes, you should donate them. At least then you’d be doing one good thing for society."

"With a father like you, no wonder your son is such a disappointnt."

"It’s no wonder the rcer family is going downhill. You deserve it. You’re about to be kicked out of Rhonia’s circle of elite families."

"With a family of selfish, heartless, cold-blooded animals like you, it’s only a matter of ti before the rcer Family goes bankrupt and collapses."

Having vented her frustrations at Julian rcer, Claire rcer threw the adoption termination agreent at him, nearly hitting him in the face.

"Hurry up and sign it. I can’t be bothered to waste any more words on you."

Faced with Claire rcer’s attitude toward the rcer family, and then thinking of her previously submissive deanor...

...the stark contrast between then and now filled Julian rcer with imnse rage.

But for the next phase of his plan to proceed smoothly, he could only endure it.

’Besides, things won’t be easy for Claire rcer from now on,’ he thought. ’I’ll just wait for the day she gets on her knees and begs for rcy.’

So, he suppressed his anger, picked up the adoption termination agreent, and politely handed it to the notary official at his side.

"Could you please take a look and see if there are any issues with this agreent? If not, we’ll sign it."

The official from the notary office looked at the agreent and said, "There are no issues."

"Once this agreent is signed, the two parties will no longer have an adoptive relationship."

"Legally, the relationship of adoptive parents and adopted child will be dissolved."

"After it is taken to the notary office and stamped with an official seal, the agreent will be fully effective."

Claire rcer had already signed her na on it.

Julian rcer and Judith Caldwell exchanged a glance, then imdiately signed their nas as well.

After signing, both parties pressed their fingerprints onto the docunt.

Judith Caldwell shoved the agreent harshly toward Claire rcer.

"Are you satisfied now?"

Claire rcer neatly put the agreent away, not bothering to acknowledge her, not even sparing her a glance.

"Get it stamped yourself. I have company matters to attend to."

With that, Julian rcer got up and went upstairs to his study.

"Get the hell out of our house," Judith Caldwell snapped at Claire rcer.

"Just looking at you will shorten my life by two years."

"The feeling’s mutual." After saying that, Claire rcer stood up to leave.

The staff mber from the notary office called out to her.

"Miss rcer, could I trouble you to give a ride back to the notary office?"

"My colleague just left for another location, and it’s hard to get a taxi right now."

"Besides, I can take you to get the official seal stamped while we’re at it, saving you the trouble of having to wait in line or make an appointnt later."

Claire rcer, who was highly vigilant, was about to politely refuse.

’But he’s a staff mber from the notary office,’ she reasoned. ’There shouldn’t be any problem.’

’Besides, the agreent needs to be taken to the notary office for the official seal anyway. It’s on the way.’

So she nodded at him. "Alright, I’ll give you a ride."

Then, the staff mber from the notary office left with Claire rcer.

Once in the car, Claire rcer opened her navigation app and drove directly to the notary office.

Aside from so traffic, the journey was completely normal.

「Half an hour later, the car arrived at the notary office’s underground parking garage.」

Claire rcer picked up her phone and turned off the navigation.

After sending Adrian Sutton a text saying she wouldn’t be back for lunch, she unbuckled her seatbelt and got out of the car.

The mont her feet touched the ground, a sudden, intense wave of dizziness washed over her.

Thinking it was a physical issue, she imdiately shook her head hard.

But she found that not only was she dizzy, but her entire body felt weak and powerless.

She used all her willpower to lean against the car, preventing herself from collapsing to the ground.

At that mont, she knew she had fallen into a trap after all.

’My health is excellent. I would never suddenly beco so dizzy and weak.’

’The only explanation is that soone drugged when I wasn’t paying attention.’

She wanted to get back into the driver’s seat to rest, but the staff mber from the notary office grabbed her arm.

He feigned a look of concern as he questioned her, but his eyes revealed a sinister smirk, the look of a sche co to fruition.

"Miss rcer, what’s wrong? Are you okay? Do you need my help?"

Although Claire rcer was dizzy, she still caught the hint of a smile that flashed at the corners of his mouth and eyes.

In that instant, she finally knew who was behind this.

"It was you..."

The man blinked at her innocently, feigning confusion.

"What about ? I don’t know what you an, Miss rcer."

Before she passed out completely, while her phone screen was still open to her chat with Adrian Sutton, Claire rcer tried to send him a cry for help.

But she didn’t have ti to type, as the man was already closing in on her.

Left with no choice, she frantically mashed out a string of jumbled text and sent it to Adrian Sutton.

’Please, let him understand what I an,’ she prayed inwardly.

Seeing she was still holding her phone, the man snatched it from her hand.

A chilling wave of despair washed over Claire rcer.

She asked him in an extrely faint voice, "Who are you? Why?"

"I’m just doing a job for soone." With that, the man wrapped his arm around Claire rcer.

Claire rcer wanted to break free, but she couldn’t summon a shred of strength.

"Don’t bother with a futile struggle. It’s useless."

"The harder you struggle, the weaker your body will beco."

With that said, the man led her to the garage elevator.

He pressed the button for the top floor, and the elevator began its ascent.

Held powerlessly in his arms, Claire rcer prayed that the elevator would stop on the way up.

’If the elevator just stops, if soone gets on, I’ll still have a chance to call for help.’

When it reached the sixteenth floor, the elevator stopped, and soone entered.

Claire rcer wanted to scream for help but found she couldn’t make a sound.

She used every last ounce of her remaining strength to try and signal for help.

But the person rely shot them a brief glance before looking down at their phone.

Seeing this, Claire rcer’s heart sank to the abyss, and the hope within her shattered completely.

’I don’t know where this man is taking , and I don’t know what’s going to happen next.’

’But I know one thing—if he was willing to drug , this can’t be anything good.’

’I was on guard against the rcer family, but I let my guard down with this man.’

’For him to be able to pose as a notary official and show up at the rcer estate, he must have been colluding with them.’

’What in the world do those shaless rcers want?’

’Why won’t they just leave alone?’

’This is all my fault. I was too careless.’

’I thought if I just watched out for the rcer family, everything would be fine.’

’I never, ever imagined the rcer Family would hire soone to impersonate a notary official.’

She watched the stranger exit the elevator, and then watched as the car drew closer and closer to the floor he had selected.

A wave of despair washed over Claire rcer.

’What do I do?’

’What can I do now?’

’Am I really going to fall into their hands just like this?’

’Will Adrian Sutton understand my signal for help?’

’Will he co save ?’

Her body was limp and powerless, without a single ounce of strength to resist.

Her only remaining hope rested on Adrian Sutton.
