“Ding! Host, a temporary failure cannot influence the final outco. The system will help you grow stronger.”

“I don’t believe you! Just help keep Yu Zhao here!”

“Host!”

The system’s voice, rare and tinged with urgency, reverberated.

“Hmm? What’s that sound?”

Dao Lord Tai Wei’s gaze swept coldly over the crowd and landed squarely on Ye Cong Xin. Her eyes were filled with suspicion, piercing as though trying to peel away the layers of Ye Cong Xin’s soul.

Ye Cong Xin had never felt such a crushing pressure before. Her body shook like a leaf in the wind, every strand of hair on her trembling with fear.

The crowd exchanged puzzled looks.

A sound?

What sound?

None of them heard a thing.

Yu Zhao, however, pondered silently, her thoughts swirling. Could it be that the evil spirit within Ye Cong Xin has been exposed?

Dao Lord Tai Wei, a cultivator of the Ascension stage, had an eye that could pierce the heavens. To have noticed Ye Cong Xin’s abnormalities at their very first eting was proof of her superior abilities.

This ti, Ye Cong Xin’s odds of survival seed grim.

“System, system…” Ye Cong Xin’s trembling voice broke. “Keep Yu Zhao here! Or I’ll go down with you!”

Her sole obsession now was that Yu Zhao must not leave!

If Yu Zhao had to go, then she must be dragged along too!

The system seed stunned by her madness, pausing in shock for several breaths of ti.

But Dao Lord Tai Wei wasn’t one to waste ti. A faint hum left her lips, neither too heavy nor too soft, yet it carried the weight of mountains.

Ye Cong Xin instantly felt as if her insides were being scorched by flas, a searing agony surging through her entire being. Blood poured from her nose, eyes, and mouth, soaking her clothes in an instant.

The crowd gasped in horror at the sight, their hearts sinking into cold dread.

This senior treated human lives like ants. To dispose of Ye Cong Xin was no different from flicking away a speck of dust.

Ye Cong Xin, no stranger to the edge of death, clenched onto her flickering consciousness despite the unbearable pain.

It was then that she heard another voice erge from within the system. This voice was darker, more insidious.

“Madwoman! You’re going to get killed!”

It was a tone far removed from the system’s usual icy detachnt—sly, sinister, and alive.

Oddly, Ye Cong Xin felt no surprise.

The system had always claid it wasn’t a living entity but an advanced technological artifact. Yet Ye Cong Xin, ticulous by nature, had long suspected otherwise. Its behaviors were too human, too deliberate.

She had chosen not to expose it, not because she trusted it, but because she wished to avoid provoking its suspicion.

Suddenly, a blinding silver light erupted from her body, encasing her entirely.

In the next mont, her entire being transford into a streaking arrow, shooting straight toward the colorful vortex above.

“Yu Zhao…”

Even now, she hadn’t forgotten Yu Zhao.

The system, perhaps fearing Ye Cong Xin would sabotage their escape, extended a strand of silver light to wrap around Yu Zhao’s waist, dragging her along.

Yu Zhao, who had been observing from the sidelines, was caught off guard, unable to resist as she was forcibly pulled into the vortex.

“How dare you snatch soone from !” Dao Lord Tai Wei’s fury erupted.

With a wave of her palm, an imnse force surged toward the vortex.

Yu Zhao felt her vision blur, her mind spinning. When she regained clarity, she found herself standing exactly where she had been monts ago.

Opposite her, Ye Cong Xin stood trembling, terror etched into her face.

“Ti Reversal? A branch of Reincarnation Dao?”

Though Yu Zhao’s grasp of the Reincarnation Dao was still rudintary, witnessing Dao Lord Tai Wei’s mastery of such techniques filled her with awe.

“System!”

Ye Cong Xin’s shrill scream seed to push the system into a corner.

This world of cultivation had grown too dangerous. With the sudden appearance of a transmission passage, retreat now seed the most prudent option.

The crowd barely had ti to react as a sinister green fla sprouted from Ye Cong Xin’s fingertips, glowing with an ominous flicker.

“Go!”

The fla shot forward, deceptively slow yet impossibly fast, reaching Dao Lord Tai Wei in an instant.

The Dao Lord sneered, a glint of silver flashing in her eyes. The green fla froze mid-air, unable to advance even an inch.

Ye Cong Xin’s expression hardened. “Explode.”

The fla shattered into a dozen smaller sparks, each darting toward Dao Lord Tai Wei.

For the first ti, a flicker of seriousness crossed the Dao Lord’s face.

Still, her deanor remained composed.

With a sweep of her hand, the sparks reversed direction, converging back into a single green fla that wavered as it returned to Ye Cong Xin.

Ye Cong Xin’s lips moved silently.

“I’ve won.”

A sudden premonition struck Dao Lord Tai Wei. Realizing things were spiraling out of control, she decisively moved to seal the colorful vortex.

But the green fla burst once more, releasing a thick green mist that spread rapidly across the Dao field.

Though the cultivators quickly sealed their senses, the mist’s pervasive nature forced them to inhale a trace. One by one, they collapsed into unconsciousness.

Even Dao Lord Tai Wei’s avatar, limited to Divine Transformation stage power, faltered briefly under the poison’s effects.

And in that fleeting mont, Ye Cong Xin seized her chance.

In a flash, she and Yu Zhao vanished into the vortex.

Dao Lord Tai Wei, caught unprepared, could only grit her teeth in anger. She struck out with her palm, sending a powerful imprint into the vortex.

The resulting tremors echoed like thunder.

Creating a passage between star regions was no simple feat. The slightest disturbance could trigger destructive space turbulence.

For Ye Cong Xin, a minor cultivator of the Small Thousand World, entering such an unstable passage was akin to courting death.

Unless fortune granted her a spatial rift to escape into, her demise was certain.

As for Yu Zhao—she could only bla her own misfortune.

If she was in the passage, she would share Ye Cong Xin’s fate.

Losing a promising disciple like Yu Zhao left Dao Lord Tai Wei in a foul mood.

She initially planned to withdraw her consciousness but, noticing the unconscious cultivators and the four anomalies among them, decided otherwise.

If she couldn’t retrieve her disciple, she could at least salvage sothing valuable.

“Ugh.”

Zhou Jin Yue groaned, mustering all her strength to open her eyes.

Only to be greeted by a rugged, weathered face that startled her.

“Master?”

“Jin Yue, you’ve finally woken up! Quickly, tell —what happened at the Dao field? Why didn’t Yu Zhao and the others return? Where did they go?”

“Master, you’re saying Fang Cheng Lang and the others are missing too?”

Yu Zhao’s absence was expected, but Fang Cheng Lang and the others?

“Yes, Fang Cheng Lang, Su Ming, Cui Jue, and Quan Ye—all of them are gone. Did they encounter danger?”

Zhou Jin Yue’s gaze darkened.

“It’s Ye Cong Xin!”
