Zoe spoke with a firm, heated tone, not like the timid, easily bullied person she used to be.
Cherry suddenly stood up from the sofa, shouting angrily, "Zoe! Don’t think that just because you’ve earned Grandma’s favor, you can co back and challenge . Get over here; tonight, you’ll be doing the laundry, and I won’t let you sleep if I say so!"
"My hands hurt from cooking today; I don’t have the strength for laundry, and I won’t do it anymore. I’m not your maid!"
"How dare you defy my orders!"
Cherry’s forehead veins bulged in rage, and she grabbed a crystal fruit bowl to throw at Zoe.
Zoe narrowly dodged it, not taking her seriously at all, and went upstairs on her own.
"I haven’t finished talking, who said you could leave? Get back here!"
Cherry was shaking with rage.
The obedient and timid puppet in her hands suddenly had her own thoughts and ideas, no longer taking orders from her. Furious, she scread and rushed upstairs to teach the puppet a lesson.
Unexpectedly, as soon as Zoe saw her coming after her, she dashed into her room and locked the door.
"Zoe, get out! If you don’t co out, I’m going to break down the door!"
"Don’t think that just because you’ve clung to the Hunter Family, you’re untouchable. Don’t forget, I still have leverage over you!"
"You’d better behave like a shadow, otherwise, you know better than how terrible the consequences will be for him!"
Suddenly, Zoe opened the door, her face pale, and spoke, "Don’t harm him, I’ll listen to you. Whatever you want to do, I’ll do it."
"See, isn’t it better this way!"
Cherry approached her, grabbed her collar, and slapped her face repeatedly, watching her fair skin quickly beco swollen and red, chuckling maliciously, "Such cheap life, it’s such a waste to have such delicate skin."
Zoe’s eyelids drooped, her eyelashes gently trembling, tears involuntarily streaming down, one by one, falling onto her clothes, soaking her collar.
She couldn’t rember how long it’s been since she felt so aggrieved.
Was it when she was eight, or thirteen, when Cherry bullied her, leaving her helpless and lost, too scared to tell her father or her friends, swallowing the pain of broken teeth?
She learned to endure, learned to play dumb and confused. As Cherry grew older, to maintain her image as a dignified lady, she hardly troubled Zoe in front of others.
Later, Cherry got engaged to Harry Hunter, triumphant and arrogantly invincible, her life beca difficult again.
Then, Isabella Weaver erged out of nowhere, not only effortlessly snatching Harry Hunter away, quickly marrying him, but also taking over the jewelry company that Cherry liked so much, and the cherished godmother often ntioned by Cherry beca Isabella’s real mother.
Cherry was utterly defeated!
During that ti, Zoe experienced the happiest days of her life, this joy, because of Isabella, has lasted until today.
Now, all she got was a jade bracelet, and Cherry’s jealousy suddenly flared up, beginning to tornt her again.
"Oh dear, your crying is so heart-wrenching. If he saw it, would he feel bad and wipe away your tears? Would he give up everything to comfort you?"
Zoe shed another tear, her voice very low: "No."
Cherry laughed happily, "It seems you understand yourself well! Give the bracelet, go downstairs to do the laundry, and you’re not allowed to visit the Hunter Family tomorrow. Stay ho and be a good granddaughter to our Grandma."
