Chapter 400: Chapter 395: Do Not Understand, Do Not Accept Chapter 400: Chapter 395: Do Not Understand, Do Not Accept Looking at the grim-faced woman interrogating her, Shen Yan suddenly laughed, “I am Shen Yan, Dr. Jian knew that already, didn’t she?”

Shen Yan slowly raised her hands, showing she hadn’t touched her, and looked towards Shen Feng and Shen Ning, “Take your mother away.”

Shen Yan was smiling.

That smile sent shivers down the spine!

“Mom,” Shen Feng stepped forward and stopped Jian Yu’s impolite gesture.

Jian Yu’s face was cold as she released Shen Yan, her eyes even sharper and colder than before, “You can’t fool . Those two research projects, we kept them under wraps, how did you get your hands on them and successfully conduct your research? You have no trail of studying abroad, nor any evidence of specializing in this field dostically. So, who are you really?”

Jian Yu narrowed her eyes, surrounded by a dangerously destructive aura.

For the first ti seeing Jian Yu like this, Shen Feng and Shen Ning were stunned.

“Mom,” Shen Ning carefully tugged at Jian Yu’s sleeve, “maybe you’ve got sothing wrong.”

Shen Yan clearly saw the softening of Jian Yu’s expression when she faced her younger daughter, genuine affection emanating from within.

Shen Yan’s eyes swept over the three faces, suddenly wanting to laugh.

Then she did indeed laugh, her laughter filled with irony.

“Dr. Jian, are you accusing of stealing your research results? But sorry, I did not know Dr. Jian before we t in the Tibetan Region. Just because you couldn’t figure sothing out doesn’t an others can’t. Dr. Jian, don’t underestimate others.”

Jian Yu stared at Shen Yan, the chilling coldness in her eyes almost palpable as it hit Shen Yan.

Shen Yan t it head-on, unflinchingly.

“My mother is a bit agitated; I hope you can understand,” Shen Feng stepped forward, blocking the silent confrontation between the two.

Shen Feng knew his mother suspected that Shen Yan had stolen that sample, then extracted its content, and sent it back to Beijing’s lab for her own research.

But this suspicion was without evidence.

He saw all his mother’s overreactions towards Shen Yan.

Ever since learning of Shen Yan’s existence, his mother would explode at the slightest ntion.

Very unstable.

Shen Feng imdiately thought of his unwavering sister.

“I can’t understand,” Shen Yan said, narrowing her smile, ungraciously retorting.

Shen Feng, a bit embarrassed, “I apologize on behalf of my mother.”

“I don’t accept,” Shen Yan flatly rejected.

“…”

“Don’t bother telling her these things,” Jian Yu had seemingly regained her composure by then, pulling Shen Feng aside, her gaze still icy, “I have yet to congratulate you on your success, becoming world-renowned.”

Shen Yan generously accepted, “Thank you.”

Jian Yu watched her for a while, then indifferently turned and walked away.

“Dr. Jian,” Shen Yan called her back, “If you want to leave the country, I can send you.”

Jian Yu coldly stated, “When I want to leave, I will leave naturally,” no one could stop her.

Those who dared to try would pay the proper price!

Shen Yan leaned against the car, watching their car disappear into the traffic.

She wasn’t in a rush to leave.

“Mom, what’s been wrong with you lately?” Shen Ning looked at Jian Yu with concern, “Why do I feel like you’ve always been targeting Shen Yan?”

“Xiao Ning, I’m not targeting her. So things related to her happened in the Tibetan Region, so I couldn’t help but keep an eye on her,” Jian Yu’s face broke into a slight smile.

Shen Ning asked, “Is it not because her na is Shen Yan?”

Jian Yu’s smile froze montarily, then quickly recovered, “Of course not.”

Shen Feng remained silent, sitting in the passenger seat, pondering sothing.

Shen Ning thought about her inexplicable feeling towards Shen Yan, hesitant to speak.

“Just focus on your research, don’t think too much.”

“Shen Yan is very impressive,” Shen Ning said, looking into Jian Yu’s eyes, “just like my sister.”

Jian Yu’s expression nearly faltered, “Nonsense, your sister has died, don’t ntion her again.”

“Not having found the body, maybe she’s still alive sowhere, just not willing to co back,” Shen Ning finally voiced her thoughts.

What she got in return was Jian Yu’s stern rebuke, “Anning, your sister is dead, stop talking nonsense.”

“Mom…” Shen Ning was shaken by the severity in Jian Yu’s eyes, and she held back the words she was about to say.

She wanted to ask if they had actually found the body but her parents were deliberately keeping it from them, claiming that the person’s fate was unknown.

Jian Yu’s face showed signs of fatigue, “Anning, let’s not talk about her anymore, okay? Let’s pretend she never existed.”

How could she pretend soone who had been in her life for over a decade had never existed?

But faced with Jian Yu’s exhausted expression, the words Shen Ning wanted to say were swallowed back.

When Jian Yu returned to their residence, Shen Yan didn’t let Qi Si see a hint of anything amiss.

Sitting in the courtyard with Qi Si having a late-night snack, there was no moon or stars, and the breeze was a bit chilly.

“Why would you take on this?” Qi Si seed disapproving, “You just rested, and you’re busy again; your body won’t be able to take it.”

“I can handle it.”

“Really?”

Qi Si’s fingers rubbed the back of her hand and upon hearing her words, his gaze darkened, “It seems I haven’t been trying hard enough.”

Shen Yan almost choked on a chicken bone.

She gently rubbed the back of her hand.

Shen Yan took a sip of water, her gaze wary as she looked at Qi Si, “Mr. Qi, please don’t say such scary things.”

Qi Si t her gaze, a hint of amusent flickering in his eyes.

Shen Yan picked up another piece of roasted chicken and chewed on it, not daring to et Qi Si’s gaze fixed on her.

The next second, Shen Yan was moved entirely, sitting in his lap.

Shen Yan, holding a greasy piece of chicken, “…”

Qi Si’s head buried into her neck from behind, “Do whatever you want, but don’t forget to rest.”

“What about you, Mr. Qi? Aren’t you also not resting well or eating properly?” Shen Yan countered.

“Mm, I will eat well and rest well.”

Qi Si’s compliant words made Shen Yan sowhat happy, “If Mr. Qi can do it, so can I.”

Her fair neck was gently bitten.

Shen Yan shrank back, “That tickles.”

Shen Yan shoved the piece of chicken in her mouth to avoid getting oil on his hair.

“When the sports eting is over, clear up so ti.”

The person buried in her neck suddenly said.

“Mr. Qi, are you taking sowhere?”

“Walk with .”

“Where?”

“Anywhere.”

“Mr. Qi, are you not working?” Shen Yan asked bluntly.

The air suddenly went quiet, and Shen Yan wondered if she had said sothing wrong.

Only to hear the person holding her sigh lightly, then he turned her face towards him and, not minding her oily lips, kissed her.

A hand, slick with oil, hesitantly raised as her body turned completely, straddling him, surrendering to his advances.

Just as it seed things were spiraling out of control, Qi Si stopped, his breath turning cold.

“Who did you et tonight?”

At his icy voice, Shen Yan was taken aback.

His voice was like that of a predatory animal whose territory had suddenly been invaded, carrying a chilling danger.

She suddenly rembered the marks left on her collar from when Jian Yu grabbed her…
