Everyone says that a daughter is her mother’s little cotton-padded jacket.

As soon as Ye Li entered the door, she keenly noticed sothing was off with Li Xueqing’s emotions.

Her face was smiling, but beneath her eyes seed to clasp a layer of dense, unresolvable sadness that was heartbreaking just to look at.

The exhaustion from running around all afternoon vanished in an instant, Ye Li stepped forward, taking Li Xueqing’s arm with concern and asked, "Mom, what’s wrong?"

"It’s your father again."

In a tone of complaint, yet filled with longing and concern, Li Xueqing said softly, "He said he misses ho-cooked als, can’t eat well abroad, and has lost several pounds."

"So Mom misses Dad..."

Ye Lixiao leaned affectionately on her mother’s shoulder and said with a smile, "I think Dad is doing it on purpose, just to make you worry about him, so you don’t get too free and happy at ho and forget about him. Mom, you mustn’t fall for it!"

"Nonsense!"

Li Xueqing’s gaze slid over Ye Li’s face, changing the subject, "What about you? Did you find anything this afternoon?"

When it ca to the studio, Ye Li beca even more excited.

She animatedly recounted how she found those potential locations and how she hired an agent to inspect the places and negotiate the rent.

Ye Li lifted her chin proudly and said, "Mom, guess which place I finally chose?"

An independent small building with a rich artistic atmosphere.

An office in a bustling comrcial center.

A corner of an art workshop close to many design studios.

"You said you’ve arranged to go to the studio with Ming Yi on Monday, so it definitely can’t be the independent building—you wouldn’t have ti for renovations!"

Li Xueqing analyzed seriously, "That workshop you ntioned, located in that remote corner of the west city, even takeout would be cold by the ti it arrives. Given my daughter’s foodie nature, I’m afraid you couldn’t bear it."

"Mom..."

Ye Li pouted adorably.

Li Xueqing tapped her on the nose, "So, it has to be the office space!"

"No wonder I’m so clever; I must have inherited it from my dear mother!"

Ye Li bragged with a laugh and couldn’t help stretching, "I must have walked over twenty thousand steps today, but it was well worth it. Mom, I’m going to take a shower and sleep, I have to oversee the renovations at the studio tomorrow..."

"Okay."

Li Xueqing affird.

After getting up and hugging Li Xueqing and giving her a fragrant goodnight kiss, Ye Li then went upstairs.

When the master bedroom door on the second floor closed, the living room beca quiet again.

Li Xueqing sat beside the sofa for a long ti.

When Aunt Lan ca out of the kitchen, Li Xueqing looked up with a smile and said, "Sister Lan, can you go to the market tomorrow and buy so fresh pork bones? Ah Li has been busy with the studio these days and must be exhausted. Let’s make so soup to replenish her."

"I’ll go early in the morning!"

Aunt Lan nodded, promptly found so dicine, and mixed it with warm water for Li Xueqing.

After taking the dicine and chatting for a while, advising Aunt Lan to go to bed early, Li Xueqing got up and went back to her bedroom.

The night sky outside the window was like an overturned ink stone, vast and dense patches of black heavy and oppressive, frustrating and irritating.

As a hint of dawn lit up the sky, she glanced at the ti, got up, washed, and went to the dining room.

"Good morning, Mom, did you dream about last night?... Aunt Lan, today’s soy milk is super wow, I’ll give you 120 out of 100... Mom, I’m off, won’t be back for lunch, see you tonight!"

"Lady, I’ll be back after I finish shopping. You finish practicing piano and take a nap, I’ll prepare lunch, just leave it and don’t move!"

Ye Li left.

Aunt Lan also left.

The sound of the car wheels grew distant and then faded away.

In the dining room, Li Xueqing dropped her spoon and slowly got up, entering the study to turn on the computer.
