Chapter 589: Chapter 589: Friday’s Appointnt_1
In the afternoon, Qin Sisi brought Ye You to the coffee shop where she was scheduled to et with Ding Jiawang. She sat down at a relatively quiet spot and looked at her phone; there was still ten minutes left until their agreed ti.
Ding Jiawang was very punctual. Ten minutes later, he walked into the coffee shop right at the appointed ti.
Qin Sisi, who had been watching the entrance, raised her arm and waved to him. Ding Jiawang raised a corner of his lips in a hint of a smile and quickly walked over to sit down across from Qin Sisi.
Perhaps he had plenty of money, or maybe he was decisive in his actions. Without waiting for Qin Sisi to ask, Ding Jiawang took a bank card from his pocket and pushed it across the table to Qin Sisi, saying, "The exact amount you wanted is in here. The password is written on the back."
Qin Sisi looked at Ding Jiawang, said "Thank you," and put away the card.
She thought Ding Jiawang would say sothing more, but he was just staring at his coffee and didn’t speak.
Qin Sisi frowned slightly. Ding Jiawang had ntioned that he wanted her help with sothing, sothing Qin Sisi guessed to be important; otherwise, he wouldn’t be so willing to lend the money.
But now he was silent, which made her feel uneasy.
Taking a deep breath, Qin Sisi took the initiative to ask, "Hey, what exactly do you want
to do for you?"
Ding Jiawang was silent for a mont, a faint lancholy shadowing his features. He replied in a heavy voice, "No hurry, the thing I want you to do can only be done on Friday. Are you free this Friday?"
Only able to be done on Friday?
Qin Sisi, not understanding, raised an eyebrow and looked at Ding Jiawang oddly, nodding in response, "I should be."
Today was just Sunday, and there were several days left until Friday. That should be ample ti to finish Lu Bin’s matter.
Ding Jiawang muttered a "hm," and then continued, "Then wait for my call next Friday."
Since he wasn’t willing to reveal more for now, Qin Sisi didn’t ask further. She responded with a "Okay" and then started drinking her coffee.
Ye You had been curling up on Qin Sisi’s legs, pretending to be dormant, seemingly oblivious to their conversation.
Qin Sisi and Ding Jiawang had only encountered the ghosts together, so they were just acquaintances, not exactly friends. Suddenly, they found they had nothing to say.
Ding Jiawang seed to find the silence boring too. After drinking the last of his coffee, he got up and said, "I have so stuff to do, so I’m leaving first. I’ll pay the bill, you can stay a little longer. Pay
back when you can, and rember to keep next Friday free for ."
Qin Sisi didn’t say anything but gave him an OK sign with her fingers.
With an emotionless face, Ding Jiawang left.
Qin Sisi looked down at Ye You and whispered, "Why do I feel like he’s acting a bit strange?"
Ye You pondered and then comnted, "Maybe the favor he wants from you is difficult to ask."
"But what can only be done on a Friday?" Qin Sisi wondered aloud, puzzled.
With an indifferent tone, Ye You replied, "You’ll naturally find out in a few days. Why are you freaking out now? Hey, what does the coffee taste like? Give
a sip."
Qin Sisi: "..."
After leaving the coffee shop, Qin Sisi took the bank card Ding Jiawang had given her and went to a corresponding bank to cash out one hundred thousand yuan.
However, when Qin Sisi tried to make a withdrawal of two hundred thousand yuan from her account, the bank staff told her that the amount was too large and needed to be reported in advance. She would have to co back the next day to withdraw the money.
Qin Sisi could only apply for the report and left the bank.
Once in a secluded area, Ye You drew a spell on Lu Bin’s forehead to help withstand daylight and the Yang energy in the air, then took him out of the portable space.
Lu Bin was terrified at the sudden sight of the blazing sun.
Although he had only been a ghost for a short ti, he knew very well that ghosts weren’t supposed to interact with sunshine.
Yet a few seconds later, when he saw that his body showed no adverse reactions, Lu Bin relaxed, though he still asked in surprise, "I’m actually fine?"
Qin Sisi, half crying half laughing, replied, "Obviously you would be, since I released you."
"Oh." Realizing he had been overly scared, Lu Bin scratched the back of his head sheepishly.
Qin Sisi showed the one hundred thousand yuan cash to Lu Bin and explained, "Here’s the one hundred thousand, give this to your parents first. The rest of the two hundred thousand will be available tomorrow."
"Alright." Lu Bin agreed quickly.
Since Qin Sisi was willing to give him this one hundred thousand, the remaining two hundred thousand yuan wouldn’t be an issue either. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be willing to offer his soul power, and she wouldn’t have a choice.
It was only after inquiring that Sisi learned Lu Bin’s parents lived in a rural area of a suburban county in S City. It wasn’t far, but it wasn’t close by either.
There were no clever shortcuts to take, so they would need to take a bus from the station to reach there.
Qin Sisi told Ye You to keep Lu Bin’s ghost covered, then stowed Ye You in a backpack. She bought bus tickets to go to Lu Bin’s native place and managed to catch the last bus.
After a wait of almost an hour and enduring the jolting journey for over three hours, Qin Sisi finally arrived at a mountain village even more remote than her hotown.
By this ti, it was totally dark. The streetlights in rural areas were far apart, and their light was dim.
As soon as she got off the bus, Qin Sisi found herself in darkness and didn’t know where to go.
Once the bus had started up again and moved off, Ye You crawled out of the backpack, activated the Invisible Bubble, and released Lu Bin’s ghost.
Qin Sisi asked Lu Bin, "You recognize this place, right?"
Lu Bin’s eyes softened a bit as he replied, "Of course, this is my ho."
Qin Sisi smiled, "Then lead the way. Let’s go give the money to your parents."
Lu Bin nodded, his form drifted upwards, and he started flying ahead.
It was now early June according to solar calendar, just when the wheat was about to ripen.
As they turned off the road, they followed a narrow, winding country path. There were endless wheat fields on either side of the road.
The wheat was already forming ears, glinting a faint gold under the dim light.
Harvest ti was just a few days away. Everyone would surely be imrsed in the joy of a fruitful season. However, at this mont, the only feelings in Lu Bin’s heart were sadness and desolation.
No matter how abundant a harvest, no matter how much grain, no matter how much wealth, how could it make up the sadness of his elderly parents losing their only child?
Previously, he had been preoccupied with making money and seed to have not visited his parents since New Year’s.
He had thought that only money could reflect his affection for his family, but he forgot the most important thing: companionship.
If he hadn’t taken money so seriously, if he hadn’t drunk alcohol excessively to gain clients’ favor, if he hadn’t driven under the influence hoping to be lucky, perhaps he could still be living a good life with his family.
Many things beco sources of regret once they’re in the past, but by then it’s already too late.
