Chapter 569: Chapter 569: The Corpse Can Kill_1
By this ti, the sky had completely darkened.
After communicating with the staff at the funeral ho, they agreed to take them to the morgue where the male corpse had been stored previously.
Qin Sisi and Lv Yong went to the morgue together, while Ning Hao went to find the staff responsible for the surveillance footage for a more detailed understanding.
Whilst Lv Yong was conversing with the funeral ho staff, Qin Sisi overheard the na and so circumstances surrounding the deceased man.
Xu Ziheng, twenty-four years old, an engineer at a construction company.
Half a month ago, while working outside on the construction site, he was struck in the head by a falling steel bar and died on the spot.
Theoretically, it was a work-related accident, but Xu Ziheng wasn’t wearing a safety helt at the ti, so he was partially responsible. Hence, the company and the family failed to reach an agreent on the compensation, and the corpse was temporarily stored at the funeral ho.
Upon discovering their son’s body missing, Xu Ziheng’s parents threw a fit and it wasn’t easy to calm them down and send them away with the diation of the two detectives.
The funeral ho’s managent was at a loss about the situation and had already reported it to the police, asking for help to locate the body of Xu Ziheng.
The staff led them to the large freezer where Xu Ziheng’s body had initially been stored. When they opened the lid to show them, it was entirely empty.
Qin Sisi, carrying Ye You, stepped forward. From the outer appearance, indeed, nothing could be discerned.
She lowered her head down into the freezer to carefully sense any residual ghostly presence.
Seeing Qin Sisi’s action, the staff couldn’t help but gasp.
Lv Yong and the others had already shown their identification, so he knew they were police officers. Naturally, he assud Qin Sisi to be one as well.
Even for a police officer though, for soone so young, and a woman at that, she sure was brave.
Those in their line of work would avoid corpses and morgues as much as possible, maintaining distance whenever possible. That this young policewoman dared to stick her head into a morgue freezer—that was audacity.
Looking at Qin Sisi, Lv Yong’s expression softened slightly. When Ning Hao initially suggested seeking her help, he was hesitant. Not because of pride, but because he didn’t believe in the supernatural, nor did he believe that Qin Sisi had the ability.
Following their tour, however, Qin Sisi demonstrated seriousness and thoroughness rather than a superficial attitude.
Originally, he thought that she wouldn’t be able to stomach looking at even one body. Now, not only had she seen three grueso, horrifying bodies, she was even examining the chilling morgue freezer ticulously. He found himself sowhat impressed.
Qin Sisi’s head lingered in the freezer for a mont, and Ye You took the chance to touch the side of the freezer with a claw. They looked at each other and, without saying anything, both nodded slightly.
Qin Sisi stood up, saying to Lv Yong, "Let’s go."
Lv Yong could tell from her expression that she seed to have found a clue. They headed for the exit together after he gave his affirmation.
At the door, they encountered the hurriedly arriving Ning Hao. Before Lv Yong could ask, Ning Hao quickly said, "I just checked. All other tis on the surveillance footage are normal. However, last Saturday night, around midnight, there was an abrupt interruption of over twenty minutes for unknown reasons. The first murder occurred that following Monday night."
Ning Hao’s implication was clear: that twenty-minute disruption in the surveillance footage might coincide with the ti Xu Ziheng’s body went missing. Only after his body disappeared did the serial murders begin.
With the funeral ho staff present, the trio couldn’t voice too much. They communicated briefly with their eyes and then left the funeral ho together.
Back in the car, Lv Yong turned towards Qin Sisi and asked, "Ms. Qin, what do you make of it?"
Lv Yong’s expression was serious, and Qin Sisi knew he wasn’t just seeking her insight on the case. He was also testing her abilities.
Qin Sisi was silent for a mont. On the way out, Ye You, lying on her shoulder, had given her a few hints based on its understanding. Now she needed to sort out the entire situation.
After settling her thoughts, Qin Sisi looked up, eting Lv Yong’s probing gaze and Ning Hao’s expectant eyes. Slowly and clearly, she said, "Humans killed the three victims, and there was a residual ghostly presence in the morgue freezer. The presence was weak, which suggests it had already been gone for several days."
Ning Hao was left in a fog, confused, he asked, "Sisi, I don’t quite understand what you an. Are you suggesting that there is no connection between these two things?"
Qin Sisi shook her head in denial, "On the contrary, I believe these two things are very much related. You’ve found valuable video footage, and the suspect looks exactly like Xu Ziheng. I have a feeling that it might not be a case of resemblance, but rather that the murderer is Xu Ziheng himself."
Both Ning Hao and Lv Yong were taken aback.
Ning Hao hastily asked, "But didn’t Xu Ziheng die? How could he still go around killing people?"
After a mont’s reflection, Lv Yong also asked, "Are you suggesting that you doubt he ever died?"
Qin Sisi pondered, "He should indeed have died. Otherwise, his body wouldn’t have been taken to the funeral ho. The ti when the surveillance malfunctioned last Saturday is likely when the body disappeared. A body wouldn’t run away on its own, and it’s unlikely anyone would intentionally steal a body."
Both Ning Hao and Lv Yong were utterly confused, looking at each other without a clue about Qin Sisi’s intent.
Qin Sisi took a deep breath, laying out all her conjectures: "There was a ghost in the morgue freezer, then the body disappeared, and then the body started killing.
I think it’s most likely that a ghost possessed Xu Ziheng’s body, controlled his body to leave the funeral ho, and started killing people. That’s why there are no traces of ghosts on the victims."
Ning Hao and Lv Yong stood there startled, digesting Qin Sisi’s words.
Having experienced the incident of Xia Ruoyan possessing the couple who owned the beauty salon and killing people, Ning Hao was relatively quicker to accept the explanation.
Lv Yong, on the other hand, wasn’t able to accept this imdiately—he hesitated and asked, "Could it possibly be that Xu Ziheng never died but is rely pretending?"
Qin Sisi shook her head, countering, "If he ca back from the dead, wouldn’t he be rejoicing and reunite with his family? Why would he suddenly start killing? He was a very normal person when he was alive."
"But...is there a possibility that the old folks got it wrong? After all, old age tends to blur things..." Lv Yong was still unwilling to believe Qin Sisi’s words.
Qin Sisi glanced at Lv Yong, and after a pause, asked, "Brother Lu, based on your age, I guess you already have children, right?"
Qin Sisi’s sudden change of topic caught Lv Yong off guard, and he nodded subconsciously in response, "Yes, I do."
"Would you mistake your own child for soone else?" Qin Sisi threw out her question at the right ti.
