Chapter 568: Chapter 568: Incomplete Corpse_1

It was dusk when Qin Sisi received Ning Hao’s call. She had just finished a five-hour session of magical practice and was snuggling with Ye You on the couch to rest.

Anticipating to go out in search of ghosts at night, Qin Sisi was figuring out what to cook for dinner that could fill her up for the work ahead.

Ning Hao explained that he and Lv Yong would be visiting Qin Sisi’s house later, asking for her assistance in a matter.

Naturally, Qin Sisi agreed, but she found it rather strange. When Lv Yong had left, he had clearly shown little trust in her and did not believe in the existence of ghosts. So why was he asking for her help just a few days later?

After discussing Ning Hao and Lv Yong’s upcoming visit with Ye You, Ye You mused, "It seems they’re in trouble."

Qin Sisi nodded in agreent and suggested, "Let’s lend them a hand if we can. If it’s related to ghosts, it may offer us an opportunity."

"Alright," Ye You gently agreed.

However, he didn’t plan to attract the attention of observant police officers like Ning Hao and Lv Yong, so he hid in a corner under the curtain. This way, he could listen to their conversation without drawing attention.

Half an hour later, Ning Hao and Lv Yong arrived at Qin Sisi’s house.

Ning Hao had previously called on Qin Sisi for help in a case involving the murder of a couple who owned a beauty salon. He had no ntal burden about asking for her help again. On the other hand, Lv Yong felt a bit awkward because it seed like he was eating his own words.

Nonetheless, if the case could be solved, losing a bit of face would be worth it.

Trying to ease the tension, Lv Yong forced a smile and greeted Qin Sisi, "Ning Hao told

your na, it’s Qin Sisi, right?"

Qin Sisi smiled and nodded, replying, "Yes, hello, Brother Lu."

Truth be told, Qin Sisi didn’t have any ill feelings towards Lv Yong. The fact that he was willing to set aside his prejudice and ask for her help indicated that he was a broad-minded person.

Noticing Lv Yong’s embarrassnt, Ning Hao stepped in to explain, "Sisi, we’re investigating a case that’s rather baffling, so we’d like your help in figuring out if the murderer is a regular person or..."

Ning Hao glanced at Lv Yong, but he didn’t finish the sentence with the word "ghost."

If it were just a matter of identification, it seed simple enough.

If it truly was a ghost, Qin Sisi would go after it on her own, even without their prompting.

Therefore, she responded readily, "Of course. But you’ll need to give

more details about the case. If there’s a victim, I’d need to see them myself."

Just as Ning Hao was about to speak, Lv Yong beat him to it, "Ms. Qin, we’re very grateful that you’re willing to help us. But the case is ongoing, and there are so details we can’t make public. We can tell you, but we hope you’ll keep it confidential. If not, our work will be compromised."

Qin Sisi understood Lv Yong’s point and carefully articulated her stance, "Brother Lu, you have your professional ethics, and I have mine. I’m only interested in ghosts."

Lv Yong couldn’t help but laugh. This girl was indeed interesting. If she’s only interested in ghosts, then she probably wouldn’t use these confidential pieces of information for self-promotion.

So, Lv Yong and Ning Hao gave Qin Sisi a detailed briefing about the serial murders.

There were three victims in total, all young and beautiful won. The corpses all had one thing in common: they were mutilated.

The first corpse was missing its head, the second was missing its legs, and the third was missing its arms.

The murder thod was clearly brutal.

Besides, they also shared the information obtained by their two young colleagues with Qin Sisi, as this was their primary source of unease.

If the elderly couple hadn’t mistaken the person, it ant that the murderer had been dead for half a month, yet these three incidents all occurred within the last week.

By normal reasoning, how could this be possible?

Qin Sisi was also confused. If the murderer was indeed a ghost, how could he be visible to regular people?

Ye You, who was hidden in the corner, remained silent, which suggested that he too was unable to draw conclusions.

In the end, Qin Sisi requested to see the corpses in person, to which Lv Yong agreed.

However, when he saw Qin Sisi carrying Ye You out the door, Lv Yong objected, "Ms. Qin, we are going on professional business here. It’s not appropriate to bring a pet, is it?"

Ning Hao quickly stepped in to explain, "Brother Lu, here’s the thing, this cat is quite spiritual and can see things we cannot. It’s Sisi’s assistant."

Brother Lu widened his eyes in disbelief. Had anyone else made such a claim, he would have called them out on their nonsense without hesitation.

But since it ca from Ning Hao, he had no choice but to believe it.

Ning Hao was always composed and cautious in his actions, so it was out of character for him to make such an absurd statent.

But since Ning Hao had said it, Lv Yong shrugged after a long mont, waving a hand and saying, "Alright, alright, let’s go."

He didn’t believe that the black cat had any spiritual abilities, but figured it was just a cat and wouldn’t cause any trouble. Taking it along couldn’t do any harm.

The trio drove to the forensic center that was part of the police system. Lv Yong and Ning Hao accompanied Qin Sisi as she examined each of the three victims’ bodies.

What were once blossoming lives were now reduced to a horrifying sight of bloody horror, too dreadful to behold.

Fighting back fear, nausea, and sorrow, Qin Sisi carefully observed the three mutilated corpses.

The spiritual power she now possessed was unlike anything in the past, capable of sensitively detecting the presence of ghosts.

However, she did not sense any trace of ghosts on these three corpses.

When Lv Yong and Ning Hao were not looking, Ye You lightly touched one of the corpses with its paw and also shook its head.

Qin Sisi frowned, could it be that they were not killed by a ghost?

Was there another murderer out there who looked exactly like the dead man?

Could the disappearance of the male body from the funeral ho be just a coincidence?

Ye You nestled in Qin Sisi’s arms and let out a low "ow."

Qin Sisi nodded and turned to Lv Yong, saying, "Brother Lu, I’d like to visit the funeral ho."

Lv Yong hesitated and said, "There’s no need. Ning Hao and I went before we ca to find you. The male corpse did indeed disappear. The staff couldn’t provide any explanation, and we didn’t find anything on the surveillance footage."

Qin Sisi insisted, "I still want to take a look myself."

Ning Hao persuaded Lv Yong, "Let’s go and look again. I also feel that we were a bit rushed last ti and didn’t get all the information."

Lv Yong cast a significant look at Ning Hao. He had already suspected Ning Hao’s feelings for Qin Sisi, and now he was nearly certain.

"Alright, we’ll do as you say. Let’s go," agreed Lv Yong, without hesitation this ti.

After an hour’s drive, the trio arrived at the funeral ho.
