Chapter 42: Chapter 42 Misunderstanding_1

When she returned to her dwelling, the sky was beginning to lighten. There was no ti left for her to have a proper sleep, so Qin Sisi rely rested her head on the table for a bit.

Ye You also lay on the table, but he wasn’t sleeping. His purple eyes glowed brightly, and his gaze shifted from Qin Sisi’s smooth forehead downwards. Her eyes were slightly closed, her long eyelashes casting a light shadow. Her small, round nose was adorable, and her rosy lips were puckered like a ripe strawberry.

Ye You watched her for a long mont, as if trying to sear Qin Sisi’s features into his mory.

Half an hour later, just as Ye You was about to lower his head, Qin Sisi lifted hers. She rubbed her bleary eyes and started the day, washing up, making breakfast, eating, then packing up her things to go to work.

"Sisi," Ye You called from behind her, speaking softly. "If you feel wronged, don’t go. I can provide for you, really."

Qin Sisi felt her heart skip a beat. A touch of sweetness spread through her heart at these words. With her back to Ye You, she smiled, shy yet radiant. Then her smile faded as she turned to look at Ye You. "Xiao Hei, nothing in life cos without hardships. You have to give to receive. I’m good, really."

Qin Sisi’s voice was clear and steady, her gaze pure, untouched by the dust of the world.

Ye You was silent for a mont, then lower his head, no longer speaking.

"Goodbye then." Qin Sisi said brightly, then left the room.

It was rush hour, and the public bus was particularly crowded. Qin Sisi held onto an overhead handle, her body swaying with the bus’s starts and stops.

Despite the gloomy weather, Qin Sisi was in high spirits.

"I can provide for you, really."

Ye You’s words still echoed in her ears. She was both delighted and moved by his words, yet she did not dare fully believe them. Though his magic was certainly powerful, he currently manifested as a re cat. She didn’t believe he could make money, unless...

Feeling her Thousand-year Mahogany Bracelet on her wrist, a gloom settled over Qin Sisi’s heart. She would need to have a very serious talk with Ye You when they returned.

Right that mont, the bus pulled up to Qin Sisi’s stop. She got off and walked a short distance to her work building. Then she rembered she had likely offended her superior by taking a day off.

Qin Sisi sighed, then steeled herself and entered her workplace, ntally preparing for a scolding and pay deduction.

Not to her surprise, shortly after she started working, Qin Sisi was called to her manager’s office.

Heart pounding with anxiety, Qin Sisi knocked on Yu Ping’s door. She stood straight in the middle of the room, head slightly lowered, awaiting the reprimand.

Yu Ping glanced at Qin Sisi expressionlessly. She then admonished Qin Sisi for her work attitude, demanded a profound self-reflection, and warned her not to repeat such a mistake. She also inford Qin Sisi that her salary would be docked by a hundred that month.

A precious hundred Yuan just flew away...Qin Sisi lanted in her heart.

"Did you rember everything I said?" Yu Ping rapped on her desk and asked.

"Yes, I rember everything," Qin Sisi dejectedly replied. As she looked up to et Yu Ping’s eyes accidentally, she noticed a strange dark shadow lingering between Yu Ping’s brows. Qin Sisi blinked hard, startled, but the shadow had disappeared.

Was she seeing things because she had been too tired recently? Qin Sisi was sowhat puzzled. It must be so, she decided.

Seeing Qin Sisi seem lost in thought, Yu Ping blurted out, "What the hell are you looking at, Qin Sisi? Have I got words written on my face?"

"No, not at all," Qin Sisi quickly denied.

With an impatient wave of her hand, Yu Ping said;" Go, get back to work!"

"Yes, ma’am." Qin Sisi obediently exited Yu Ping’s office. Even though her mood was affected, she still focused on her work and completed each task diligently.

When she got back to her room that night, Ye You seed to be resting, not having gone out.

Though Qin Sisi was bothered by so concerns, she did not ask about them but quietly prepared dinner and called Ye You to eat.

After they finished eating, Qin Sisi spent quite a while choosing her words, then finally asked, "Xiao Hei, do you really have a way to make money?"

Ye You blinked his purple eyes, seeming a bit surprised by Qin Sisi’s question, but he still answered calmly, "Yes."

Qin Sisi hesitated, then asked, "Can you tell

how?"

Even though she couldn’t imagine how Ye You could make money, at that mont, she really hoped he could give a sowhat normal answer. She just wanted to reassure herself that her fears were unfounded.

Ye You didn’t seem to sense Qin Sisi’s inner struggle and replied mysteriously, "You’ll find out in due ti."

Qin Sisi furrowed her brows, couldn’t help but lightly shook her wrist, and asked, "It’s not like this bracelet, is it?"

Ye You paused, realizing what Qin Sisi was implying. She was suspecting him of stealing or robbing!

All of a sudden, Ye You sprang to his feet, his purple eyes flashed with anger, "Qin Sisi, are you implying that I’m the kind of person who would resort to such actions?"

Qin Sisi’s heart tightened, and she hurried to explain, "Not at all! I an..."

Ye You interrupted her coldly, "No need to explain. I have my own principles. If you don’t understand, I won’t force you."

Before Qin Sisi could respond, Ye You spun around and jumped onto the window sill. He opened the window and leaped out.

"Xiao Hei!" Qin Sisi cried out in alarm, not thinking but imdiately sprinted to the window and jumped out after him.

A sense of weightlessness and the biting autumn wind made Qin Sisi feel scared. She quickly called, "Wings of Rainbow". A pair of dazzling, multicolored wings sprang from her back, slowing her descent.

Once Qin Sisi landed safely, she saw the figure of Ye You sprinting away. His small black body was difficult to discern in the vast darkness despite not being too far away.

Qin Sisi was on the verge of tears. Because the Wings of Rainbow were too conspicuous, she was afraid of being spotted. She retracted the wings, started running in the direction where Ye You had dashed off.

But she couldn’t see in the dark like Ye You and, running too hastily, stumbled over a stone not far from where she started.

"Ouch!" Qin Sisi lost her balance and fell to the ground. A sharp pain shot through her ankle.

Qin Sisi was covering her ankle, and despair washed over her. She bit her lip tightly, looked up in the direction Ye You had gone. The small figure was long gone, only the dark silence remained.
