Chapter 399: Chapter 399 Tragic Mother and Child_1

Qin Sisi followed the crying for about ten minutes and finally saw two unclear figures in the distance.

Qin Sisi stopped midair, raised her hand to shield from the wind and snow, and looked carefully. She saw two figures, one big and one small, huddled together in the cold snowy night, weeping bitterly.

As she got closer, she realized that the crying was coming from two people. One of the voices was weak and childlike, likely corresponding to the smaller figure, who must be a child.

The other voice was a woman’s voice, where the two words "unfair" could occasionally be heard through her sobbing.

Qin Sisi quickly thought that nowadays people wouldn’t be out in the snow crying out their grievances with their children.

Could it be, these were ghosts who died unjustly?

Qin Sisi slowly descended to the ground, retracted her Wings of Rainbow, and under the concealnt of the Invisible Bubble, she walked towards the figures.

In the moonless and starless night, Ye You stretched out its paw and ignited the Ziwei Heaven Fire to light the way for Qin Sisis.

As she moved closer and closer, the chilling aura, shrouded by the cold wind and snow, gradually strengthened. Indeed, they were ghosts!

Qin Sisi paused, exchanged a look with Ye You, feeling both pleased and helpless.

To encounter a ghost so unexpectedly could be considered effortless, which was gratifying to her.

However, on the flip side, it seed her New Year might not be peaceful.

Qin Sisi took a deep breath, continued to walk till she was near the two ghosts.

Upon closer inspection, as expected, a young woman was holding a child of about two or three years old who couldn’t stop crying.

Judging from their clothes, both the woman and the child were not from present tis.

The woman’s dress sowhat resembled Mrs. Wang Luo’s from a long ti ago, but it was slightly more vivid, and the woman was a few years younger.

The child was wearing a piece of reddish-brown padded cotton clothes, with an outer layer of a red cotton vest embroidered with Ruyi patterns. He was chubby and cheerful. Tears hung on his face, yet he still stretched out his little hands to wipe the woman’s tears away.

The woman held the child tightly, sotis sobbing, sotis whimpering, giving a picture of deep maternal affection.

If one deliberately ignored the icy frost on their frozen faces and the chilly aura they emitted, it would be a scene that evoked pity and compassion.

A mother and her child frozen to death on a snowy New Year’s Eve, their grievances unresolved for centuries.

After a mont of thought, Qin Sisi took a few steps forward. Ye You removed the Invisible Bubble, revealing themselves in the snow.

"Can I help you?" Qin Sisi suddenly asked, her gentle voice like a ray of warmth in the coldness, surrounding the mother and child.

Clearly startled, the mother and child had been here for many years. For safety, even in the dark midnight, the mother would tell her son to play quietly and not make a sound.

But tonight, on this stormy New Year’s Eve, was eerily reminiscent of the heartbreaking, unbearable, and unjust New Year’s Eve from many years ago. The mother and child felt deep emotions, hugging each other and sobbing just like they did all those years ago.

The woman slowly raised her head to look at Qin Sisi. Even though she had a fair appearance, the bluish hue of her face gave off a strange vibe.

"You can see us?" the woman asked, with significant doubt in her eyes.

Qin Sisi nodded, "Yes."

"Aren’t you scared?" The woman was even more doubtful as she was aware of how terrifying she looked.

Qin Sisi shook her head and replied, "I’m not scared."

"Who exactly are you?" The woman looked anxious and held her child even tighter.

Qin Sisi continued in her calm and gentle voice, "Don’t be afraid, I won’t hurt you."

The woman didn’t speak; she stood up with her child and took a few steps back, seemingly trying to leave.

Just then, a cat’s ow ca from behind her.

She turned around and saw a black cat with deep eyes blocking her way.

What was even stranger was that one of the cat’s front paws was raised, with a purple fla burning on it.

It was clear that this black cat was associated with the young girl who had just appeared.

The woman looked at Qin Sisi again, her expression now filled with anxiety and hostility as she asked curtly, "What do you want?"

Qin Sisi replied nonchalantly, "I want to help you."

"Help ?" The woman repeated incredulously, showing little change in her expression, evidently not trusting Qin Sisi.

Qin Sisi decided to be straightforward and said, "I’m a Mage. I’m collecting Soul Power. If you’re willing to give

your Soul Power, I can help fulfill your unresolved desires."

Only then did the woman’s expression change sowhat. She looked at Qin Sisi thoughtfully, seeming to consider whether her words were credible.

Qin Sisi said with a smnile, "If I wanted to capture you, I would have done so without you noticing. I am sincere. Please consider it."

The woman’s expression softened slightly. She was about to say sothing when the child in her arms suddenly said with a baby voice, "Mother, I’m cold."

The woman anxiously hugged the child tighter and comforted him with affection, "Good boy, Kang Kang, let mother hug you, you’ll warm up soon!"

Qin Sisi frowned slightly, her eyes scanning the child’s face. Despite the chubby and cute appearance, his face had a bluish hue and a layer of frost.

Logically, a ghost was just a spectral form and shouldn’t be affected by the cold. Maybe the bone-chilling feel from their past life had left a deep imprint on their mory.

Qin Sisi looked around. This place was quite remote and seed to be overlooked by sanitation workers. There were lots of dead leaves and branches under the towering trees.

Qin Sisi went forward, picked up so branches and leaves, and piled them up. Then she solemnly declared, "Fire magic, ignite!"

She quickly pointed two fingers towards the pile, and it imdiately caught fire. The red and yellow flas flickered in the cold wind, lting any snowflakes that ca close, the little droplets making a "sizzling" sound when they fell into the flas.

Qin Sisi said to the woman, "Let your child warm himself by the fire."

The woman hesitated for a mont before thanking Qin Sisi.

She carried her child and sat beside the fire, letting the burning flas bring a bit of warmth to their icy bodies.

The child was particularly excited, pulling at the woman’s hand, and said innocently, "Mother, look, fire. It’s so warm! I’m not cold anymore, mother."

Despite his jubilant mood and his claim of not being cold, the frost on his face did not lt. Perhaps it would never lt.

The woman looked tenderly at her child, her face glowing with maternal love. Even with the bluish complexion, she looked gentle and kind.
