Chapter 387: Chapter 387 The Door That Can’t Be Opened_1
After a bit of consideration, Qin Sisi spoke firmly, "I think we should get help from Ning Hao. He trusts , and Sister Zeng trusts him."
Ye You thought about it and agreed. They didn’t know Sister Zeng’s address - if they were to search for it, it’d take a while. Asking Ning Hao for help might be the best option.
Just as Qin Sisi was about to call Ning Hao, Ye You suggested, "Let’s eat sothing first. We won’t lose much ti for just a al. Besides, they might still be at the shopping mall. I believe the problem’s at their ho. We should ideally go over there."
Qin Sisi checked the ti. It was two in the afternoon. Shopping did take more ti than one expected. A few hours had flown by before she even realized it.
Ye You took out the purchased items from his Portable Space. After Qin Sisi arranged them neatly, their once empty refrigerator was now fully stocked.
Afterwards, Qin Sisi cooked so food and they both had a hearty al, replenishing the energy they had spent while shopping.
At a little after three in the afternoon, Qin Sisi managed to get through to Ning Hao over the phone and quickly filled him in on Xiao Fei’s abnormal behavior.
Sowhat taken aback, Ning Hao asked skeptically, "Sisi, are you sure about this?"
Having seen Xiao Fei just a few hours ago, indeed, he was quite listless. However, to say he was cursed felt sowhat absurd to Ning Hao.
In his understanding, one acting bewitched should entail symptoms like unconsciousness, delirium, babbling and so on. Xiao Fei was indeed low-spirited, but his sharp retorts to his mother in their verbal sparring showed his mind was still clear.
Qin Sisi said gravely, "Ning Hao, I’m serious. Please trust . I don’t know the cause yet. If you take
to their house, we might be able to figure it out."
Ning Hao hesitated before saying, "Let
make a call first."
"Alright," Qin Sisi replied before hanging up.
Ning Hao called Sister Zeng and told her that a kid in the community had so questions about drawing and wanted to talk to Xiao Fei.
Xiao Fei, who had just been admitted to the art departnt of a university in H Province this sumr, was considered quite gifted in painting.
Sister Zeng asked Ning Hao to hold on. She explained that they just got ho from the streets, and Xiao Fei had gone to his room as soon as they returned ho and locked the door. She said she would call him.
A few minutes later, Sister Zeng picked up the phone and said apologetically, "Ning Hao, I’m sorry. He might be too tired. I can’t seem to wake him up. Can I ask him to call you when he wakes up?"
Ning Hao could only say, "Alright," before hanging up.
After putting down the phone, a vague sense of foreboding welled up in Ning Hao’s heart. His scale of judgent began to lean toward Qin Sisi’s side.
Locking himself in his room as soon as he ca ho, falling into such a deep sleep that he couldn’t be woken up, it was all very strange.
Ning Hao called Qin Sisi and relayed this to her, asking her to wait a little longer and assured her that he would get to the bottom of this matter.
As much as she wanted to hurry things, Qin Sisi could only wait. With nothing else to do, she let Ye You create a barrier within which she started practicing her magic.
With the Magic Source now upgraded to bright yellow, Qin Sisi officially beca a magic apprentice. Her control over magic power also improved significantly, and the power of the Fire Magic skill she used increased substantially.
The fireballs she conjured hit the wooden log nine tis out of ten. Before long, the grey piece of wood was charred black from being burnt.
After another hour, Ning Hao called Sister Zeng again, unable to sit still.
Sister Zeng went to Xiao Fei’s door again, hitting it and calling for him but still, there was no reply.
With no other option, Sister Zeng truthfully relayed the situation to Ning Hao.
Ning Hao’s heart sank as he blurted out, "Could sothing have happened to Xiao Fei?"
Sister Zeng was startled and quickly denied, "Impossible! What could go wrong in his own ho? He’s probably just really exhausted."
Not wanting to wait any longer, Ning Hao told Sister Zeng, "Stay at ho and wait for , I’ll co over and see if I can wake Xiao Fei."
"That...alright," Sister Zeng agreed after so hesitance.
No mother didn’t worry about her child. She hadn’t considered anything bad happening before, but now that Ning Hao had brought it up, although her mouth denied it, she started to feel worried.
Once Ning Hao hung up, he imdiately called Qin Sisi and asked her to wait for him downstairs. He would take her to Sister Zeng’s house right away.
Knowing they could proceed, Qin Sisi imdiately agreed, arranged her things after a brief discussion with Ye You, and went downstairs.
Ning Hao was quick. As soon as Qin Sisi got down, his car arrived. Qin Sisi hurried into the car, and Ning Hao imdiately drove toward Sister Zeng’s house.
On the way, Ning Hao gave Qin Sisi a brief rundown of Sister Zeng’s family situation.
Sister Zeng was of a certain age and worked in logistics at the police station. Her husband was a public servant. Theirs was a typical middle-class family.
Xiao Fei didn’t excel in his studies, but he was quite creative with his paintings. He had been admitted to university for studying art just this sumr.
Qin Sisi recalled their argunt at the mall. Xiao Fei had defended himself by saying he wasn’t playing with his phone in his room, but studying his art. So he truly was a young artist.
At this point, Qin Sisi hadn’t considered the direction of "painting."
As Ning Hao drove, his peripheral vision caught sight of the black cat in Qin Sisi’s arms. That black cat certainly was unusual, Qin Sisi took it everywhere she went.
Once they arrived at Sister Zeng’s ho, Ning Hao knocked on the door. It was quickly opened, as if they had been waiting for their arrival.
Sister Zeng was slightly surprised to see Qin Sisi following Ning Hao, but, not having ti to question it, she anxiously said to Ning Hao, "Ning Hao, I’m glad you’re here. Please wake him up for . I just tried shouting for ages, but there was no response. Could sothing have really happened to him?"
Ning Hao comforted her in a serious tone, "Don’t worry yet. Show
to him."
"Alright," responded Sister Zeng, leading Ning Hao and Qin Sisi to Xiao Fei’s door.
At a glance, Qin Sisi saw that it was just a regular wooden door, which wouldn’t do much for soundproofing. Even if Xiao Fei was in deep sleep, he should have been woken up by now.
Ning Hao twisted the door handle and found it was locked from inside. Unable to open the door, he turned to Sister Zeng and asked, "Is there no key?"
By now, Sister Zeng was almost in tears. Her voice trembling, she responded, "He locked it from inside. A key can’t open it!"
Ning Hao stood in front of the door and pounded on it just like Sister Zeng had before, while shouting Xiao Fei’s na.
A few minutes later, there was still no sound from inside the room.
Ning Hao stopped and a sense of unease began to form on the faces of all three of them.
