Chapter 386: Chapter 386: Despondent Youth_1
Hearing Qin Sisi agree, Ning Hao cheerfully responded, "You have a better eye for fashion than . I get a headache just thinking about buying clothes."
Seeing Ning Hao say so, Qin Sisi found it hard to decline any further. "Okay then, I’ll give it a shot. Rember to keep the receipt, so if the elderly don’t like it, you can co back and exchange it."
"Great," Ning Hao replied in a straightforward manner.
Thus, Qin Sisi accompanied Ning Hao to the fourth floor where middle-aged and elderly clothes were sold. After asking him about his grandmother’s size and preferences, she selected a jujube red Chinese top with a Ruyi pattern and a pair of loose silk and linen trousers for the old lady.
Ning Hao nodded in agreent, satisfied, "Very good, my grandma will definitely love this."
Being able to make an old lady happy also made Qin Sisi feel satisfied.
Ning Hao, carrying several clothing bags, walked down the stair with Qin Sisi while expressing gratitude.
Qin Sisi, smiling, said, "Don’t be so formal, it’s just a small matter."
The two reached the third floor, where they had to turn to the other side of the floor to continue going downstairs. They walked side by side, separated by a small distance.
The third floor was the n’s departnt. Qin Sisi’s gaze scanned across the various n’s clothes, stable, elegant or fashionable, and she couldn’t help but start imagining how these clothes would look on Ye You.
At this mont, Ning Hao spotted a familiar figure not too far away and called out, "Sister Zeng."
Qin Sisi snapped out of her daydreaming and followed Ning Hao’s gaze. She saw a middle-aged woman with a smiling face approaching them.
"Little Ning, you are here to buy clothes too!" The middle-aged woman warmly greeted Ning Hao. Her gaze swept over Qin Sisi with a aningful look. After a mont of hesitation, she asked, "Is this your girlfriend?"
Qin Sisi froze and awkwardly glanced at Ning Hao, then lowered her gaze and sneaked a peek at Ye You.
Though Ye You seed slightly displeased, he didn’t say anything after exchanging glances with Qin Sisi.
Ning Hao hurriedly explained, "No, she’s a friend I happened to run into. I just asked her to help
choose so clothes for my grandma."
Then, Ning Hao introduced Sister Zeng to Qin Sisi, "Sisi, this is Sister Zeng, my colleague."
Having explained clearly and introduced Qin Sisi, she relaxed and greeted Sister Zeng with a polite but distant smile, "Hello."
Sister Zeng replied sowhat awkwardly, "Hello."
To break the ice, Sister Zeng pulled a lean and handso young man from behind her. In a stern yet loving tone, she said, "Hurry and greet your uncle."
Ning Hao laughed and cheerfully said, "Xiao Fei, you have grown a lot since entering college."
The young man nicknad Xiao Fei, his head drooping rather sleepily, mustered enough energy to look at Ning Hao, managing a mumbled, "Hello, Uncle."
Sister Zeng felt a bit embarrassed, shot Xiao Fei a stern look, and pointed at Qin Sisi, "And her!"
Xiao Fei gave Qin Sisi a glance, showing so confusion before looking at Sister Zeng.
Sister Zeng was also left in a dilemma. It was still okay for her son to call Ning Hao ’uncle’, but Qin Sisi didn’t seem much older than Xiao Fei, so calling her ’aunt’ wasn’t suitable. And calling her ’sister’ would obviously put her generationally below Ning Hao.
Qin Sisi, however, didn’t notice Sister Zeng and Xiao Fei’s dilemma. She just observed Xiao Fei carefully, feeling that there was sothing odd about him, yet she couldn’t put her finger on what it was.
At the sa ti, Ye You’s gaze also moved to Xiao Fei, showing a hint of seriousness.
Quick to grasp the situation, Ning Hao noticed Sister Zeng’s dilemma. Considering they were colleagues and had a good relationship, he changed the subject, asking, "Are you out shopping with Xiao Fei?"
Sister Zeng quickly picked up on it and answered, "Yes, this child keeps staying inside all day and not going out. It’s already late December, if we don’t buy now the stores will be closed. It’s so hard to manage kids these days, all they know is to hide in their rooms playing with their phones over the holiday."
Xiao Fei retorted, "I wasn’t playing with my phone."
Sister Zeng reprimanded angrily, "Then what are you doing all day in your room? Don’t tell
you are studying for 24 hours a day."
Xiao Fei defended, "I am studying. I am researching drawing!"
Seeing the mother-son quarrel about to break out, Ning Hao quickly chid in, "Alright, alright, we know Xiao Fei is a good boy, but you should also pay attention to your health. I notice your complexion doesn’t look good. Get out more often, do so exercises."
Xiao Fei looked at Ning Hao without saying anything.
Sister Zeng also felt it was not good to quarrel with her child in front of others, so she suppressed her anger and said to Ning Hao, "You guys go ahead, I’ll go clothes shopping with him."
"Alright," Ning Hao and Qin Sisi replied, bid farewell to Sister Zeng and headed towards the escalator.
Sister Zeng, on the other hand, continued looking at clothes in the n’s departnt on the second floor with Xiao Fei.
Ning Hao had driven to the mall, so Qin Sisi took a ride with him back to their neighborhood.
The two bid each other a calm and polite goodbye as Qin Sisi returned ho with Ye You.
As soon as the door closed, Ye You imdiately said, "There’s sothing wrong with Xiao Fei."
Qin Sisi was startled and imdiately asked, "What’s wrong?"
Ye You paused before counter-questioning, "Can you observe anything peculiar? Now that you are a proper magic apprentice, you should sense so discomfort cause by ghosts."
Thinking back, Qin Sisi replied "While at the mall, I did feel there was sothing off about him, but I couldn’t pinpoint what exactly. I thought maybe I was wrong since lack of sleep could also result in poor ntal state."
Ye You said gravely, "It’s not due to the lack of sleep, but because he is ’soul-deficient.’
Surprised, Qin Sisi asked, "Soul-deficient? Like Ding Jiawang who lost his soul?"
Ye You shook his head and clarified, "No, it’s not the sa. Ding Jiawang had his ’three souls and seven spirits’ wholly separated from his body. But if I’m not wrong about Xiao Fei, his ’three souls’ are still intact, but the ’seven spirits’ have disappeared. Moreover, his physical condition also seems quite bad, indicating that both his soul and body have sustained damage."
Hearing this, Qin Sisi anxiously said, "That’s serious! We need to imdiately tell Sister Zeng!"
Ye You looked at Qin Sisi and said, "Don’t rush. The two of you barely know each other, so if you abruptly rush to her and say her son is haunted, do you think she’ll believe you? Besides, she is a police officer, be careful that she might arrest you."
Qin Sisi rolled her eyes at Ye You, "Stop talking nonsense, police don’t arrest without reason."
Despite saying so, Qin Sisi understood Ye You’s point. To abruptly go and spill the beans, even though her intentions were good, she might fail to earn their trust.
