Chapter 262: Chapter 262: An Unseen Little Life_1

At first glance, Qin Sisi found the baby, only a few months old, to be unutterably adorable with his pudgy white skin.

However, the poor little thing had his mouth wide open, crying with all his might. His tiny fists were tightly clenched, and his normally fair face had turned bright red. It was a heart-wrenching sight.

Qin Sisi frowned, her eyes unwittingly filled with pity as she asked concernedly, "Has the baby been crying like this all the ti?"

With a hoarse voice, Teacher Yang replied, "He stopped for a bit around noon, had a little breast milk, then slept for about two hours. But then he suddenly woke up and started crying again and hasn’t stopped since."

Looking at the inconsolably crying baby, Qin Sisi pressed her lips together in helplessness. Her current level of spiritual power wasn’t enough to detect anything unusual about the baby, so she turned her attention to Ye You.

From the mont Ye You glanced at the baby, he identified a problem. He turned his head back and gave a soft ’ow’ to Qin Sisi.

Hearing Ye You’s hint, Qin Sisi contemplated briefly before telling Teacher Yang, "Teacher Yang, I need to be alone with the baby for a while."

"Alone?" Teacher Yang asked, sowhat puzzled and unsure.

Qin Sisi maintained a calm deanor, "Teacher Yang, since you’ve sought my help, please trust ."

Teacher Yang’s complexion changed slightly as she lowered her gaze to the inconsolable baby in her arms. With a sorrowful and helpless look, she finally nodded her head in agreent to Qin Sisi’s request.

Teacher Yang, holding the baby, led Qin Sisi to an empty bedroom.

At Qin Sisi’s indication, Teacher Yang reluctantly handed over the baby to her. She took one last lingering look at the child before slowly exiting the room and closing the door behind her.

The baby’s cries didn’t cease. While Qin Sisi gently patted the child’s back with loving pity, she turned to Ye You and asked, "Is there really a problem?"

Just as Qin Sisi was holding the baby, Ye You had already leaped from her arms onto the bed. Hearing Qin Sisi’s question, Ye You responded, "There’s a dark entanglent on his temples. It must be a ghost with strong resentnt."

Montarily taken aback, Qin Sisi asked worriedly, "Will the child be in danger?"

Ye You spoke in a low voice, "Not for now. However, if the ghost is not found soon, there could eventually be a threat to the child’s life."

Qin Sisi glanced pitifully at the baby in her arms. Such a small child, absolutely harmless, why would anyone want to harm him?

"Put him on the bed," Ye You instructed Qin Sisi.

Qin Sisi nodded and gently placed the baby onto the bed.

Suddenly deprived of a warm embrace, the baby’s cries grew louder. His tiny fists flailed about, as if in protest.

Qin Sisi, who had never taken care of a child before, beca anxious at the sight of the crying baby. She turned to Ye You in desperation and asked, "What do we do now?"

Ye You didn’t respond, but instead approached the baby quietly with catlike steps. He extended his paw and gently placed it on the baby’s forehead.

Qin Sisi watched as a faint silver glow emitted from Ye You’s paw, enveloping the baby’s head.

Under Ye You’s magic, the baby’s cries gradually subsided.

A few minutes later, the once inconsolable baby had closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep. There were still occasional hiccups, and a gleaming teardrop hung from his long eyelashes.

Qin Sisi finally let out a sigh of relief. Having the baby sleep was a good temporary solution; otherwise, with continual crying coupled with no food or drink, how could such a tiny body cope?

"Do you think the ghost will appear tonight?" As soon as Ye You removed his paw from the baby’s forehead, Qin Sisi hastily asked. They could only solve this problem at the root by capturing the ghost.

Ye You glanced at the now quiet baby and replied, "It should. Otherwise, the yin energy entangled with the child wouldn’t be this strong."

Qin Sisi gritted her teeth, speaking in a determined voice, "We’ll wait here until it appears. We must capture it."

Ye You glanced at Qin Sisi, whose eyes were filled with anger and resolve, thinking that she looked rather cute in this state.

With an inner chuckle, Ye You suggested to Qin Sisi, "Take the baby out and let the nanny look after him. We need to have a serious talk with Teacher Yang."

"About what?" Qin Sisi asked, puzzled.

After a pause, Ye You voiced his suspicions to Qin Sisi.

Qin Sisi opened the bedroom door with the baby in her arms, only to find Teacher Yang waiting anxiously outside.

As soon as she saw Qin Sisi, Teacher Yang promptly asked, "Miss Qin, how is my son?"

Before Qin Sisi could reply, Teacher Yang’s gaze fell on the baby. Seeing her son, who had been crying for the last day and night, now sleeping peacefully in Qin Sisi’s arms, her relief was close to tears.

Never would she have imagined that her inconsolable baby would have been efficiently soothed to sleep by Qin Sisi in the span of just a few minutes.

Teacher Yang gently took the child from Qin Sisi. After gently patting him a few tis, a tender smile spread across her face.

In a low voice, Qin Sisi said, "Teacher Yang, let Sister Wang look after the baby for now. There are a few things I need to ask you."

Teacher Yang shot Qin Sisi a curious glance. Though she wasn’t sure what Qin Sisi wanted to ask, she guessed that it would be related to her baby. She promptly called over Sister Wang to take the baby to another bedroom for sleep.

Afterward, Teacher Yang ushered Qin Sisi back to the living room.

Teacher Yang heaved a deep sigh of relief, expressing her gratitude, "Miss Qin, I can’t thank you enough for your help. Please, ask

anything."

The question she needed to ask was sowhat difficult to voice. After composing her thoughts and taking a deep breath, Qin Sisi finally asked softly, "Teacher Yang, have you ever had an abortion before?"

Teacher Yang’s expression froze montarily. After a brief silence, she slowly nodded.

"Could you tell

more about it?" Though Qin Sisi knew it was a painful subject, she needed to understand more.

Pain flashed across Teacher Yang’s face. Her hands moved restlessly, clenching and then releasing. After a while, she finally began, "That was three years ago. We were young and naive. I got pregnant before we got married. We were afraid of being ridiculed, so we didn’t dare keep the baby."

Ye You was right after all.

Watching Teacher Yang’s troubled expression, Qin Sisi pressed on, "Did your husband know?"

Teacher Yang nodded slowly, "He knew. He felt that we were too poor at the ti. We could barely support ourselves, let alone a child. He wanted to wait until our financial situation improved before having children."

So, in the face of unavoidable realities, the young parents had chosen to flee, abandoning their unplanned child.
