Chapter 238: Chapter 238 Two Won_1
The heavy, wine-red curtains blocked the icy howling wind outside, and a tulip-shaped bedside lamp gently cast a warm, beige glow onto the bedroom. Over the bed was spread a rich, red duvet.
Snuggled in the crook of Gu Liang’s arm, Shao Fangfang cooed, "When will you finally divorce that she-devil of yours?"
Gu Liang’s face was soft with affection, but stiffened slightly at her words. In a rather dismissive tone, he replied, "We can’t rush this; you fully understand her family’s situation."
Shao Fangfang shot back coldly, her face a mix of annoyance and anger. "We’ve been sleeping together for two years. How much longer do you expect
to wait?"
Gu Liang pulled Shao Fangfang closer and coaxed, "Isn’t this to secure more wealth for you? You wouldn’t want
to walk away with nothing, would you?"
ntioning wealth made Shao Fangfang pause. Both she and Gu Liang were money-minded, initially coming together because of it. She had a fairly good idea of how wealthy Gu Liang’s family was and couldn’t bear the thought of his ex-wife walking away with everything.
Seeing that Shao Fangfang seed appeased, Gu Liang quickly capitalized on it. "Don’t worry, I promise you’ll be well taken care of. I’ll take you to Guiyuan Building to shop tomorrow, okay?"
Guiyuan Building was the most upscale shopping center in S City: clothes, shoes, bags, jewelry, costics – everything was available. A paradise for shopping and a gathering place for luxury goods.
At his words, Shao Fangfang broke into a smile, teasingly poking Gu Liang’s nose before responding sweetly, "You do have so conscience after all."
"Heh heh..." Gu Liang let out a few low chuckles.
In the darkest corner of the room, if Shao Fangfang or Gu Liang had a pair of special eyes, they would see a pale-faced man in a suit standing there.
Unfortunately, they had no such eyes, leaving them oblivious to Zhu Zihao, who unabashedly watched them from the corner.
As Zhu Zihao took in the scene, an insipidly sinister smile crept onto his face.
Enjoy yourselves for a little longer, soon you both shall keep each other company in hell.
The next morning, Gu Liang left Shao Fangfang’s apartnt to go to work looking sharp.
To keep their affair a secret, they never arrived at or left work together. Gu Liang always shot down Shao Fangfang’s occasional complaints with the justification that it was for the ’greater good’.
The company had been thriving over the years, which made his lips unconsciously curl into a smug smile.
However, the thought that he needed to accompany Shao Fangfang to Guiyuan Building later made him feel sowhat annoyed.
Shao Fangfang had beco increasingly greedy, always looking for ways to extract money, jewelry, or designer items from him after each bout of lovemaking, often costing several tens of thousands each ti.
Oh, how he preferred those young, innocent girls! Taking them to dinner, buying them a few clothes or a phone, and they gratefully and willingly fell into his arms.
Still, Gu Liang didn’t dare cross paths with Shao Fangfang. She held a significant financial influence in the company — there was no company free of a little dirty laundry, and Gu Liang’s was no exception.
Those vices were largely Shao Fangfang’s doing.
Besides, even though he hadn’t directly told her about the precarious situation he found himself in a year ago, Shao Fangfang would’ve definitely made so educated guesses.
The thought that she might know about his desperate state was a thorn in his mind that pricked him regularly. It was another crucial reason why he didn’t dare confront Shao Fangfang.
He put these thoughts aside and found he’d already reached the office. Gu Liang parked his car and headed up to the building, chest out and head held high.
It was still early, and most of the staff hadn’t arrived yet. Gu Liang briskly walked towards his office.
Then, at a corner, a graceful figure suddenly erged and almost collided with him.
Instinctively, Gu Liang stopped in his tracks and looked up to see Jiao Yan’s flirtatious appearance. Dressed in a red dress, her large, doe-like eyes shot a coquettish glance at Gu Liang. "President Gu, you scared !" she said with feigned reproach.
Gu Liang gave a wry smile, his eyes darting around nervously.
Jiao Yan stepped forward. Her fingernails, coated with bright red nail polish, deftly adjusting Gu Liang’s tie while she purred, "No need to worry. I’ve looked around. There’s nobody here."
The gesture, the words — it was pretty clear what she ant.
Gu Liang pulled Jiao Yan’s slender waist towards him, leading her into his private office as they shared a passionate kiss.
Afterward, Jiao Yan said coyly, "President Gu, you must take good care of ."
Gu Liang playfully chucked her chin, replying, "No problem. I’ll give you a raise next month."
"Thank you, President Gu." Her face lighting up with joy, Jiao Yan gave Gu Liang a peck, straightened her clothes, and left his office, swaying her hips enticingly as she walked past.
Gu Liang felt utterly satisfied. Jiao Yan’s beauty was exquisite, although not particularly intelligent, and was only averagely competent at work. But since they were in a relationship, she managed to stay within the company comfortably.
Neither of them was innocent - one not a principled man, the other no paragon of virtue, the two were naturally on the sa page.
Gu Liang didn’t mind keeping a parasite, and Jiao Yan was more than happy to be one, as long as she could maintain her position in the company.
Shao Fangfang, however, had developed a deep dislike for Jiao Yan and suggested multiple tis that Gu Liang fire her, but he always dismissed it, reasoning that firing a longstanding employee without legitimate cause would be bad for morale.
Shao Fangfang also suspected that Jiao Yan and Gu Liang had an affair, yet without any evidence, she couldn’t confront Gu Liang about it without appearing petty.
Jiao Yan returned to her desk, displaying enchanting grace while taking out a mirror to freshen up her makeup, unaware that a practically invisible figure was watching her closely from nearby.
Zhu Zihao’s face lit up with confidence and determination. "So, there’s also an affair with this little temptress...the heaven is really helping ."
Soon, the office filled up with staff tidying files, cleaning the office, making calls — the entire floor soon buzzed with activity.
Shao Fangfang arrived and walked past Gu Liang’s office door. Recalling their intimate monts from the night before, and Gu Liang’s promise to take her shopping at Guiyuan Building today, brought a pleased and satisfied smile to her face.
