Chapter 192: Chapter 192: Searching for Ning Yue_1

At this very mont, although Ning Hao was already lying in bed, he was awake.

The anticipation and worry for his parents and sister, along with the increasingly clear affection for Qin Sisi, left the young Ning Hao tossing and turning, unable to sleep.

When his phone rang, and he saw Qin Sisi’s na displayed on the screen, Ning Hao abruptly sat up in bed.

If Qin Sisi was calling this late, it must be news about his parents and sister.

Ning Hao had been longing for this for a long ti, but now he sohow felt a hint of trepidation. It took him a little while to answer the call.

Qin Sisi thought Ning Hao had fallen asleep and was about to hang up when she heard the call connect on the other end.

"Hello, Sisi," Ning Hao’s slightly raspy voice sounded on the other end of the line.

Qin Sisi imdiately responded, "Ning Hao, I’ve learned sothing about the matter you were inquiring about."

There was a sudden silence on the other end of the line. As Qin Sisi waited for a response, Ning Hao’s voice echoed in her ear, "Sisi, can I co over to your place?"

Qin Sisi was taken aback. It didn’t seem entirely appropriate to have a man co over to her place so late at night.

Ning Hao seed to sense Qin Sisi’s hesitation and quickly explained, "I didn’t an anything by it. My grandmother is at ho, and she’s quite old. I don’t want her to know too much."

Qin Sisi hesitantly looked over at Ye You, who nodded quietly.

So Qin Sisi responded, "Alright, co over."

Qin Sisi gave him her floor and apartnt number, and Ning Hao gratefully said, "Thank you, Sisi, I’ll be right there."

Ning Hao quickly dressed and rushed towards Qin Sisi’s ho. The calm composure he had developed over his years as a police officer had completely vanished. His heart was pounding in his chest.

As he waited for the door to be answered, Ning Hao took several deep breaths, not wanting to appear too flustered in front of Qin Sisi. But when she opened the door, she was t with a breathless and visibly anxious Ning Hao.

Qin Sisi invited Ning Hao in, asked him to sit on the sofa, and poured him a glass of water.

Perhaps it was from running, or perhaps it was nervousness, but Ning Hao downed the glass of water Qin Sisi handed him in one gulp, and then fixed his gaze intently on her.

In normal circumstances, Ning Hao’s eyes were calm and placid, betraying no emotions. But now, they shone brightly, and anyone could see the nervous anticipation in his heart.

Qin Sisi took a seat at the other end of the sofa, a comfortable distance from Ning Hao, and calmly began to speak, "Don’t be anxious, let

explain everything slowly."

Ning Hao nodded, managing to conceal so of his agitation, but his tightly clenched hands betrayed his inner turmoil.

Qin Sisi could understand Ning Hao’s feelings, so she decided to get straight to the point, "After their death, your parents’ spirits returned to the underworld and have now been reincarnated."

Ning Hao seed to relax slightly and asked with concern, "Are they doing alright now?"

Qin Sisi shook her head and replied, "Ning Hao, things aren’t as simple as you think. We can’t disclose what happened to a spirit after reincarnation to its loved ones from its past life. This involves several ethical, moral, scientific, and societal issues. The person who shared this information with

said they couldn’t disclose it, so I don’t have an answer for you."

Ning Hao appeared slightly disappointed, but quickly said, "It’s alright, I understand. Knowing that they have a new life, I’m already satisfied."

A small smile played at the corners of Qin Sisi’s lips. She was relieved and comforted by Ning Hao’s understanding nature.

"What about... Ying Yue?" Ning Hao carefully ventured his next question, his expression imdiately growing tense again.

Qin Sisi paused for a mont before saying, "Your sister Ning Yue, her spirit did not return to the underworld nor did she reincarnate. So, it’s very possible that she’s still lingering in this world, turning into a wild ghost."

Ning Hao’s complexion changed drastically, and he hurriedly asked, "What should we do? Can we still find her?"

Qin Sisi paused for a mont before saying to Ning Hao, "If a lingering spirit stays in this world, they either follow a loved one or linger around the place they died. Only a few particularly strong spirits can roam freely."

At this point, Qin Sisi asked, "How many years has it been since Ying Yue passed?"

Ning Hao’s expression turned desolate, and he answered sorrowfully, "Six years. She was only fourteen."

Fourteen, the best years of youth...

Qin Sisi sighed, continuing, "A six-year-old lingerer won’t be too powerful, so she shouldn’t be able to roam freely. Her only close relatives left are you and your grandmother, but I have not detected any traces of a spirit near you, so I believe she hasn’t been following you or been to your house."

Upon hearing Qin Sisi’s analysis, Ning Hao’s expression cleared up, and he imdiately said, "So there’s only one possibility left. She’s still lingering where she died."

Qin Sisi nodded and said, "In theory, that should be the case."

Ning Hao quickly picked up on the uncertainty in Qin Sisi’s words and asked curiously, "In theory? Are there any special circumstances?"

Qin Sisi replied, "Just as there are bad people, there are evil spirits. Bad people can harm others, and evil spirits can kill ghosts."

Ning Hao jumped up, looking incredulous, "Ghosts can kill ghosts?"

Qin Sisi also stood up and said, "So evil spirits, in order to enhance their own spiritual power, will devour the spirits weaker than them."

Ning Hao unconsciously clenched his fists and forced out the words, "Then what?"

Qin Sisi fell silent for a mont before replying, "Then that spirit will disappear forever and can never be found again."

Ning Hao’s expression tightened, and he abruptly turned to leave.

Qin Sisi called out in a rush, "Where are you going?"

Ning Hao responded without turning his head, "I’m going to find Ying Yue."

"I’ll co with you." Qin Sisi said quickly, then swiftly picked up Ye You and followed after Ning Hao.

As she was closing the door, Qin Sisi quickly exchanged glances with Ye You, who imperceptibly nodded, and said in a barely audible whisper, "Be careful."

Ning Hao and Qin Sisi left the building one after the other and continued towards the underground parking garage.

Ning Hao was quick paced, Qin Sisi had so difficulty keeping up, but she knew Ning Hao was anxious so she didn’t complain and broke into a run.

Ning Hao imdiately noticed Qin Sisi struggling and slowed his pace. He turned to look at her, his deep-set eyes flickered with a touch of tenderness.

The two of them settled in the car and buckled their seatbelts. Ning Hao quickly started the car and drove out of the community.

In the late-night silence, there was scarcely a soul on the streets. Ning Hao drove quickly, arriving at their destination in less than an hour.
