Chapter 171: Chapter 171: The Annoying Miser_1

Qin Sisi walked around a bit, then suddenly asked, "A few nights ago, were the lights on here?"

Ning Hao shook his head and replied, "No, it’s best to survey the scene during the day. Nobody ca here at night, so the lights weren’t on. People in the vicinity know a murder occurred here and probably stayed away."

Qin Sisi agreed, "Yes, so for the few days after the murder, the lights should have been off here. So..."

Qin Sisi’s eyes darted around, she swiftly walked forward, and turned on the lights in every room.

Watching Qin Sisi’s actions, Ning Hao was first taken aback, then a spark of enthusiasm crossed his eyes. "That way, even from a distance, one can see the lights here."

Qin Sisi gave a small nod, "Considering the thod used by the ghost, it resembles a revenge killing. If there indeed was deep hatred involved, even after taking revenge, the ghost would still pay close attention to this place."

Ning Hao gave an admiring look and exclaid, "Good job, Qin Sisi. You have a talent for police work."

A blush spread across Qin Sisi’s face. She modestly said, "Don’t get too happy just yet. I’m not sure if this thod will work."

At that mont, Qin Sisi felt a slight sting on her hand. Looking down, she found faint teeth marks on it. The fluffy little head of Ye You had nuzzled into her forearm.

Such a petty creature, so annoying!

Although Qin Sisi muttered to herself, deep down, she was filled with sweetness.

"What’s wrong?" Noticing Qin Sisi’s subtle change in deanor, Ning Hao asked concernedly.

Qin Sisi quickly replied, "Nothing, let’s wait in the office."

There was a long sofa in the office. Qin Sisi and Ning Hao sat at opposite ends, leaving a large gap in the middle.

Ning Hao chivalrously offered, "You rest for a while, and I’ll keep watch."

Qin Sisi gave a small smile and replied, "I took a nap in the afternoon, I’m not tired, I’ll keep watch."

Ning Hao responded, "I also took a nap in the afternoon, I’m not tired either."

At a loss for words, Qin Sisi was taken aback by the sudden silence and felt sowhat awkward.

After a while, Ning Hao asked, "Sisi, I would like to know, was your special ability a gift you were born with or did you learn it."

Qin Sisi looked down at Ye You. Ye You moved a little and gave a few soft ows.

After sorting out her thoughts, Qin Sisi gently began, "I’m not sure either. I always thought I was just an ordinary person, but one day, this black cat found

and claid that I was his owner."

Ning Hao changed his expression, "This cat could talk?"

Qin Sisi pondered and said, "I’m not sure if this counts, but I’m the only one who can communicate with him. No one else can."

Ning Hao looked complexly at the black cat nestled in Qin Sisi’s arms. Indeed, this cat was quite peculiar.

Qin Sisi continued, "Ever since he found , I suddenly gained the ability to see things from another world."

Ning Hao looked surprised. So, it was like that? No inherited gift or hard-earned abilities, just a peculiar black cat that brought about these special powers? If that were the case, Qin Sisi’s adoration for the black cat was sowhat understandable.

In a place unseen by Ning Hao, Ye You’s purple eyes glead with a spark of sharpness. Sensing Ning Hao’s suspicions and inquiries about him, he decided to let Ning Hao fully recognize his uniqueness. By doing so, he could dispel Ning Hao’s doubts and prevent him from further investigation.

Given Ning Hao’s personality and capability, if he were to continue digging, he might eventually unearth so truths about Ye You.

Other than Qin Sisi, Ye You didn’t want anyone else to know his secret.

The words of Qin Sisi were half true and half false, difficult to discern. However, Ning Hao would likely choose to believe.

Seeing Ning Hao fall silent, Qin Sisi, afraid he might ask questions she couldn’t answer, decided to say, "Ning Hao, I feel a bit tired. I’ll rest for a while. If anything happens, call

imdiately."

She had claid earlier that she wasn’t tired, but shortly after, she said she was. Ning Hao’s expression dimd a bit. Without challenging the contradiction in Qin Sisi’s words, he responded gently, "Alright, rest if you’re tired."

Qin Sisi leaned back on the sofa and closed her eyes, pretending to sleep, all the while holding Ye You tightly in her arms.

Ye You used his spiritual power to sense the surroundings. Not detecting anything unusual, he too closed his eyes while nestled in Qin Sisi’s arms.

Taking this opportunity, Ning Hao took a mont to study Qin Sisi’s peacefull countenance. A tender sentint flickered behind his sunglasses. However, feeling this was inappropriate, he forced himself to look away and began carefully observing the scene outside the door.

Ti passed minute by minute, inching closer towards midnight.

The majority of the buildings lining the streets had turned off their lights. The bright lights on the sixth floor of this building stood out from afar.

Suddenly, a cold gust of wind blew past Ning Hao, covering him in a chill.

Looking perplexedly at the empty doorway, Ning Hao tightened his clothes, unable to understand the source of the cold breeze.

Ye You, who was nestled in Qin Sisi’s arms, suddenly opened his eyes and let out a low ow.

Upon hearing Ye You’s call, Qin Sisi quickly opened her eyes and sat upright. Initially, she was feigning sleep, but over ti, she had actually gotten a bit drowsy.

There was no sound coming from outside, nor any strange figures appearing, but both Qin Sisi and Ye You could sense the proximity of a ghost.

So, should they go out and confront it now?

Qin Sisi, full of uncertainty, looked down at Ye You for guidance.

Ye You let out two soft ows, saying, "Don’t rush, let’s wait for our quarry to co to us."

The ghost hadn’t co very close yet. If they went out now and the ghost fled in fright, all could be lost. It might be better to hold their ground and wait for it to make the first move.

Following Ye You’s advice, Qin Sisi looked at Ning Hao and blinked at him, then leaned back on the sofa, closed her eyes, and clenched the Divine Dog’s Fury hidden inside her sleeve.

Ning Hao understood implicitly. Realizing the target would soon appear, he too leaned back on the sofa. His nerves were tightly wound, and his gaze was as sharp as a hawk’s behind his sunglasses.

Not much ti passed before a faint figure drifted over from outside the door and disappeared in an instant.

Qin Sisi didn’t move, neither did Ning Hao.

After a while, the figure loitered outside the door for a mont, then slowly drifted in.

Sensing the approach of the ghost, Qin Sisi’s eyes cracked open a sliver to see only the lower half of the figure. The slender figure stood tall and graceful, an elegant pale green skirt swaying about. It was a ravishing beauty.
