Chapter 146: Chapter 146: Double-sided Life_1

Having found roughly a dozen pieces of information about Zhou Zichen online, including his photo, Qin Sisi was rather excited.

However, the information about him was all much of a muchness; first a donation event, donating tens of thousands of dollars to a school or a family, followed by introductions and praises of his company, full of glowing adjectives.

Qin Sisi hesitantly said, "From the outside, it seems like he’s done quite a few good deeds and donated a lot of money."

Ye You mused, "One can know a man’s face but not his heart. Based on this information alone, one cannot decipher a person’s true character; the best way to understand soone is to observe them closely."

Qin Sisi agreed, nodding, "So, we’ll need to make a personal visit to L City."

A cold glint flashed in Ye You’s eyes and he stated, "Regardless of whether we are there to kill or pardon, we will need to make a trip."

Qin Sisi glanced at Ye You strangely. While she couldn’t be sure if Zhou Zichen was a good or bad person, from Ye You, she felt a murderous intent.

Qin Sisi pondered for a mont, deciding that they should et in person first before making any decisions. If Zhou Zichen was truly as kind-hearted and philanthropic as the online information suggested, she would try to persuade Zhuang Qin to give up her vendetta.

"I’ll buy the train tickets first," said Qin Sisi, opening her phone to purchase the tickets.

To save ti, Qin Sisi purchased high-speed train tickets. Luckily, there were still second class seats available, and the price was acceptable.

L City was not too far from Qin Sisi’s location in S City. It was just a two-and-a-half-hour ride on the high-speed train.

In the afternoon, having packed her luggage, Qin Sisi headed to the train station with Ye You.

Having learned from previous experience, Qin Sisi was no longer worried about issues with bringing pets. Ye You hid in Qin Sisi’s bag and successfully evaded the train station security check.

By the ti they arrived in L City, it was already evening. Qin Sisi hailed a taxi and asked the driver to head to Zhou Zichen’s trading company.

After a drive of around forty minutes, the taxi dropped Qin Sisi off at her destination.

After paying the fare, Qin Sisi stepped off the taxi and appraised the towering skyscraper before her.

The middle of the building was adorned with a large display screen, on a loop was a TV interview featuring Zhou Zichen.

He looked poised and eloquent on the screen, modulating his voice impressively as he articulated his perspectives on the future of the trade market, confidence gleaming in his eyes.

Qin Sisi took Ye You out from her bag and pointed towards the large screen, "Look, that’s him."

Ye You glimpsed at the screen disinterestedly for a mont before suggesting to Qin Sisi, "Go and ask if he’s in the company."

Qin Sisi was taken aback, "Go find him directly? Is that a good idea?"

Ye You gave Qin Sisi a helpless look, "You wouldn’t be able to get in even if you wanted to, just asking won’t hurt."

Realizing what Ye You ant, Qin Sisi echoed, "If he’s there, we could just wait for him outside the company, right?"

Ye You teased as he ruffled Qin Sisi’s hair, "You’re finally catching on."

Qin Sisi blushed, tucking her lips in awkwardly. She put Ye You back into her bag before proceeding into the company building.

The receptionist greeted Qin Sisi with a polite smile upon her entrance, "Hello, miss."

Qin Sisi returned the smile and asked gently, "Hello, I’m looking for Manager Zhou Zichen."

The receptionist replied with a pleasant smile, "Sure, miss. Do you have an appointnt?"

Having prepared an excuse beforehand, Qin Sisi responded, "I don’t. I’m a friend of his, just arrived from out of town and didn’t have the chance to notify him in advance. I tried to call him but he didn’t pick up."

The receptionist remained unfazed, but firmly replied, "Sorry, miss. Without an appointnt, you are not allowed to go in."

Appearing flustered, Qin Sisi pleaded, "But what if he’s not picking up my calls? Could you help

call him?"

The receptionist replied, "Manager Zhou is in a eting, he won’t be accepting calls from anyone. I suggest you try calling again later."

OK, she had the information she needed.

Content, Qin Sisi left the building with a trace of regret on her face, reluctantly acknowledging, "Alright, I’ll wait outside for a while then. Thank you."

The receptionist smiled and nodded, "You’re welco."

Qin Sisi walked out of the building and a faint smile graced her lips.

As ti ticked by, and the sky began to darken, Qin Sisi sat silently on a bench at the edge of the car park, holding Ye You and waiting patiently.

Finally, a familiar figure erged from the building.

Qin Sisi was imdiately on alert. She positioned herself behind a nearby car, her lively eyes focused intently on Zhou Zichen’s every move.

Zhou Zichen placed so items in the trunk of his car and was about to get in when suddenly, a mischievous little boy rode his scooter through the gap between cars and zood past Zhou Zichen’s vehicle.

Feeling uneasy, Zhou Zichen imdiately shouted at the boy to stop and rushed to inspect his car. Sure enough, the car door had been scraped by the scooter.

After a long day of work, Zhou Zichen could hardly contain his rage. He yelled at the boy, "Who’s kid is this? Doesn’t he have any manners? Is this a playground to you? Can you afford to pay for the damage to my car?"

The boy, who appeared to be around five or six years old, was petrified. He stood there in a daze, unable to utter a word.

Angrier than ever, Zhou Zichen slapped the boy across the face, knocking him down and causing him to wail.

Qin Sisi watched in shock, torn between helping the boy and not wanting to reveal her presence to Zhou Zichen.

Zhou Zichen, still seething with anger, kicked the boy lying on the ground. The boy cried while gasping for breath.

Just as Zhou Zichen was about to kick the boy again, Qin Sisi could no longer bear to watch. As she was about to intervene, Ye You grabbed onto her clothes and blinked pointedly at Zhou Zichen.

An almost imperceptible flicker of dark light flashed past just as Zhou Zichen’s foot connected. It felt as if he had kicked a steel plate. He scread in pain, holding his foot and cursing loudly.

After a while, Zhou Zichen gingerly put down his foot. He glared at the boy, muttered, "just my luck" under his breath and left, leaving the boy sobbing on the ground.

Once Zhou Zichen was out of sight, Qin Sisi jogged up to the boy, helped him up, and comforted him gently. She then gave him a milk candy from her bag.

The boy slowly regained his composure, but his body was still trembling, his eyes filled with fear as he clearly had been greatly frightened.
