Chapter 1446: Side Story 3: I’m Your Painkiller (Lin Shan Side Story)

He took out a business card from the cardholder on the table and handed it to Lin Shan with both hands.

Lin Shan awkwardly accepted it, too embarrassed to look up at him, and with her head down, said, "Goodbye," before quickly leaving.

After leaving the hospital building, she looked at the business card, Chen YuJie, a pretty standard na.

Three days later, her toothache had eased a bit but wasn’t completely gone, so Lin Shan went to the hospital again to ask Chen YuJie to prescribe her so more dicine.

"No need to prescribe the painkillers again this ti, right?" Chen YuJie asked gently.

Lin Shan thought for a mont and said, "Better prescribe so, just in case."

Chen YuJie laughed, "What could happen?"

Lin Shan’s voice was sweet and clear, "Oh, you know the saying, a toothache isn’t an illness, but when it hurts, it can be deadly."

"Haha." Chen YuJie laughed heartily, his eyes sparkling.

Before leaving, Chen YuJie asked for Lin Shan’s phone number, under the pretense of following up with a patient to better understand their condition.

A week later, Lin Shan received a call from Chen YuJie.

"Hi, does your tooth still hurt?" The voice on the other end was gentle and crisp, reminiscent of sunshine at eight or nine in the morning.

Lin Shan politely replied, "It’s fine now, thank you, Doctor Chen."

Chen YuJie continued, "Did you take the painkillers later?"

Lin Shan replied, "Yes, they worked quite well."

Chen YuJie said on the other end of the phone, "That’s good, you should have finished your painkillers, let

get you another bottle, just in case."

Chen YuJie actually quoted her, and Lin Shan couldn’t help but laugh. She didn’t really need painkillers anymore, but after thinking about it, she agreed to accept Chen YuJie’s painkillers, just in case one day her tooth suddenly started hurting again.

When Lin Shan arrived at the hospital entrance after work and t Chen YuJie, what Chen YuJie handed her was actually vitamins.

Lin Shan felt tricked and glared at Chen YuJie unhappily.

Feeling a little awkward, Chen YuJie explained, "Taking too many painkillers is really bad for your health, so the second ti I gave you vitamins, didn’t you find them quite effective yourself?"

Now it was Lin Shan’s turn to feel awkward, she felt that this doctor was sowhat baffling, and quietly said "Goodbye" before planning to leave.

Chen YuJie, however, caught up and asked in a voice only they could hear, "Lin Shan, are you married?"

This question was a bit presumptuous, Lin Shan glared at him and didn’t answer, just quickened her pace.

Chen YuJie smiled and said, "So that’s a no, do you have a boyfriend?"

Lin Shan still didn’t speak.

Chen YuJie laughed again, "Then that’s still a no, good."

Lin Shan stopped and, sowhat annoyed, yelled, "What exactly are you trying to do?"

Chen YuJie, like a magician, pulled two movie tickets out of his pocket, and with bright eyes asked, "Do you have ti to see a movie together?"

Lin Shan coldly replied, "No."

Chen YuJie laughed, "You don’t need such a distant expression. If you’re uncomfortable, we can take it slow."

Lin Shan just thought this was Chen YuJie’s whim, but as it turned out, Chen YuJie was really serious and started trying everything to get close to Lin Shan while being very mindful of his boundaries, never causing Lin Shan any annoyance. This just-right approach made it hard for Lin Shan to refuse.

They gradually got to know each other, and later discovered that they had actually bought houses in the sa neighborhood, in the sa building, with the sa layout.

Chen YuJie thus entered Lin Shan’s life. Nothing overly beautiful or romantic, everything seed natural.

It was like reaching a corner in life, and soone suddenly appeared, so the rest of the path was traveled together.

On the day they confird their relationship, Chen YuJie wrapped his arm around Lin Shan’s waist and said, "From now on, you won’t need to take painkillers anymore, just take , I am your painkiller."

Two years later, Lin Shan and Chen YuJie got married.

Before the wedding, they both sold their respective small houses, bought a bigger house together, made the down paynt together, had both their nas on the property certificate, and paid off the mortgage together, living a stable life with tranquil days.

Six years later, Lin Shan took her four-year-old son to play in the park, when she suddenly heard a voice both familiar and unfamiliar calling her na.

She lifted her head in surprise and was stunned for a mont when she saw the figure in the distance, then suddenly shouted angrily, "Qin Sisi, you heartless person, you dare to co back!"

Qin Sisi was startled; hadn’t she wronged Lin Shan?

Before she could react, Lin Shan rushed up to hug her, choking on her tears, and complained, "You disappeared without a word, do you know how worried everyone was?"

Qin Sisi replied awkwardly, "Well, I left in such a hurry that I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye."

Lin Shan was crying tears of joy, not truly angry, quickly moving from complaints to sharing her life with her old friend.

Qin Sisi kept her words a bit vague since she couldn’t share the truth with Lin Shan.

Lin Shan then brightly recounted her experiences over the years, her acquaintance, courtship, and marriage with Chen YuJie, the pain of pregnancy, the pain of childbirth, and the pain of raising a child, and so forth.

As she spoke, Lin Shan called her son over and asked him to call Qin Sisi "Auntie."

Qin Sisi smiled at the child who looked like a little dumpling, with fair skin, rosy lips, and big, bright eyes full of mischief.

The little boy stared at Qin Sisi for a while, then his eyes suddenly brightened, and he chirped "Auntie," then started pulling Qin Sisi’s hand, beginning to talk to her.

His words weren’t very clear, making his pronunciation sound quite cute, as he continuously told Qin Sisi various things about his kindergarten, seemingly wanting to share everything stored in his short mory with Qin Sisi.

This surprised Lin Shan, because her Xiao Bao usually talked very little.

When saying goodbye to Qin Sisi, Xiao Bao held onto her hand reluctantly, almost about to cry, and Lin Shan barely managed to coax him back ho.

"Why do you like Aunt Qin so much?" Lin Shan curiously asked Xiao Bao.

Xiao Bao was silent for a mont, then replied, "I know her."

Lin Shan laughed, "That’s nonsense, she went abroad before I got married. How could you possibly know her?"

Xiao Bao blinked without saying a word, not even sure why himself, just subconsciously wanting to be close to Aunt Qin.

"Silly kid, don’t talk nonsense, go to sleep now!" Lin Shan kissed Xiao Bao’s cheek, gently patting his little behind to lull him to sleep.

"I’m not a silly kid!" Xiao Bao said defiantly, pouting his lips.

Chen YuJie was working the night shift and didn’t co ho, so tonight it was just them at ho, and mother and son gradually drifted into dreams amid the quiet.

In the corner, the invisible Qin Sisi watched them with a satisfied smile on her face.

"Dear Shan Shan, dear baby, I wish you happiness."
