Chapter 141: Chapter 141: Dormant Soul_1

Ye You’s gaze sharpened, and the luminous silver sphere reappeared in his claw launching wave after wave of Silver Light Attacks. After several repeated assaults, the blood-red "Wronged" character finally vanished entirely, disintegrated into a pile of withered, dull dust at the bottom of the well.

When Qin Sisi no longer heard the cries of injustice, she mustered her courage to lift her gaze. Only a swath of green-gray remained on the desolate well walls; the nurous blood-red characters of "Wronged" had completely disappeared.

Qin Sisi breathed a sigh of relief and turned towards Ye You, asking, "Is it over?"

With a serious look in his eyes, Ye You looked down into the well and said, "No, it’s just the beginning."

Scarcely had the words left Ye You’s mouth when the thick layer of dust ford by the "Wronged" characters at the bottom of the well slowly floated upward, gradually coalescing into one mass. The mass began rotating, slowly at first, then quicker until it was spinning at such a speed that the outline of the dust was indiscernible. Only a blurry phantom remained.

Suddenly, a dark light flashed.

Qin Sisi squinted, but when she reopened her eyes, she let out an involuntary scream, pushing herself back against the well wall.

The elusive ghost, for whom they’d been searching, finally materialized.

Appearing before her was a young man in his twenties, clad in a green-gray robe with a square scarf tied around his hair. Despite his scholarly appearance, his face was frighteningly pale, devoid of any color. His vacant, lifeless eyes stared fixedly at Qin Sisi and his lips moved, emitting a series of faint words, "Wronged... Wronged..."

The space at the bottom of the well was narrow. Despite Qin Sisi pressing herself further against the wall, she was still too close to the ghost, nearly inches away.

Although Qin Sisi had encountered quite a few ghosts before, she had never encountered one so closely. Forced to face the ghost’s pale face, her heart pounded out of fear and anxiety.

Ye You instantly lunged forward, his claws grabbing at the air in front of the ghost. With that, the ghost abruptly vanished.

Ye You landed gently on Qin Sisi’s shoulder, reassuringly whispering, "Don’t be afraid, it’s over."

Qin Sisi turned pale, staring blankly at Ye You. It took her a mont to respond before she asked, "Did you absorb him into the Portable Space?"

Ye You nodded, confirming her suspicion.

Relief washed over Qin Sisi, swiftly followed by a wave of discouragent. She hung her head a bit and whispered, "Did I perform poorly today? I don’t know why I was so scared..."

Ye You hugged Qin Sisi by her neck and whispered in her ear, "It’s normal to feel uneasy when acting in such a confined space for the first ti."

Qin Sisi bit her lip and sighed, hugging Ye You tightly.

Ye You raised his head to glance at the narrow well entrance and sternly said, "We need to get out of here."

Stretching out a claw, Ye You drew a semicircle over his head. A semi-transparent silver orb enveloped the two of them and began to rise slowly.

A few minutes later, the silver orb rose out of the well and landed gently on the ground.

Ye You retracted the silver orb and said to Qin Sisi, "The Invisible Bubble will last for about ten more minutes. You use the Wings of Rainbow and fly for ten minutes. I will then use magic to continue our escape, but I can only maintain our levitation for half an hour. During this ti, we should reach the outskirts of the city. We will find a hotel to spend the night, and then take a car back ho tomorrow."

"Alright." Qin Sisi nodded in agreent. Witnessing Ye You arranging everything so thoroughly helped stabilize her mood. She quickly summoned the Wings of Rainbow and went back the way they ca, carrying Ye You with her.

Ten minutes later, the Invisible Bubble wore off. To avoid attracting unnecessary attention, Qin Sisi called back the Wings of Rainbow.

Ye You then used magic to produce the semi-transparent silver-colored sphere to continue their journey.

As Ye You had calculated, their magical energy was almost completely drained as they reached the outskirts of the city.

While it didn’t have the hustle and bustle of the inner city, the low rent of the area ant it was ho to several mid-sized hotels.

Choosing a hotel that appeared clean, Qin Sisi checked them into a room. After freshening up, she lay down exhausted on the bed.

Thoughts of the recent incident still sward her brain, evoking fear. Regardless of embarrassnt, she instinctively moved closer to Ye You.

Ye You looked at her with a mix of frustration and tenderness, kissing her gently on the forehead, he softly whispered, "Sleep now."

Qin Sisi closed her eyes. The chaotic scenes in her mind slowly receded as she fell asleep, embracing Ye You’s soft body.

When she woke up, it was broad daylight. After checking out from the hotel, she hailed a taxi to return to their ho in the city.

Both of them were famished, so the first thing Qin Sisi did when they got ho was to cook a pot of rice porridge and stir-fry a couple of dishes.

Only after satisfying their hunger did Qin Sisi begin to feel the lingering coldness in her heart fading away.

After cleaning up, Qin Sisi sat on the couch and started asking about the ghost from the previous night.

"How did you notice there was sothing wrong with those words on the well?"

Her curiosity sharing her concern, this being her first encounter with a ghost that clung onto another object.

Ye You explained, "The only explanation for feeling the presence of a ghost without seeing it; in such a confined space, it’s only those letters that stood out. Blood doesn’t stay fresh red for long; the only reason for the unaltered color is sothing special."

Qin Sisi pondered over this and said, "We were able to detect him, so why couldn’t he detect us? Nothing happened when we first entered."

Ye You replied, "The red words on the walls of the well maintained their vividness because he wrote them with his own blood and then adhered his soul onto them. The Soul Power used to maintain the color of the characters was constantly depleting, leading ultimately to the soul falling into a dormant state."

Dormant?

Qin Sisi’s eyes lit up in curiosity, she asked, "So you woke up his soul with a slight use of magic?"

Ye You nodded and said, "Yes, although the fixation in his heart was too deep. His mind is consud with thoughts of being wronged, this resentnt gave us a bit of trouble."

Rembering the pale face so close to hers, Qin Sisi slowly said, "Judging from his clothes, he must have been from ancient tis. The fact that he filled the well wall with the word ’wronged’ and kept repeating it suggests he must have suffered from great injustices."

Ye You agreed and audibly said, "I think so too, but we will know about the exact grievances when we ask him tonight."

Qin Sisi hesitantly said, "But I feel like he is sowhat out of his mind."

Ye You agreed, "He just woke up from hibernation, it would take so ti for him to regain his senses fully. I had him take a pill and allowed him to rest for a day in my Portable Space. By evening, he should be well enough to communicate."
