Chapter 140: Chapter 140: Spirits of the Deep Well_1

Ye You was walking along a ssy path, the light of Ziwei Heaven Fire curbed the surrounding darkness, so disorderly objects ca to view.

Qin Sisi followed closely behind Ye You, her hand gripping tightly the inky-black Divine Dog’s Fury.

After a few turns, finally, Ye You stopped at the edge of a well, his purple eyes staring intensely at the well, he said, "The cats said the ghost is in a well, it must be this one."

Qin Sisi cautiously advanced, saw the well was about sixty to seventy centiters in diater, pitch-dark inside, and didn’t know how deep it was or if there was still water inside.

Qin Sisi bent over to pick up a stone and threw it into the well.

In an instant, a slight sound echoed from within, but it definitely wasn’t the sound of a stone hitting water.

Qin Sisi, in deep thought, said, "It seems that there is no water inside the well, it’s a dry well."

Ye You stood sturdily at the edge of the deep well, his purple eyes peering into it, with every detail at the bottom of the well clearly visible.

However, despite feeling a chilling aura, he saw no image of the ghost in the well.

A flicker of confusion passed across Ye You’s eyes, he said to Qin Sisi, "I’ll go down and check."

Qin Sisi hurriedly replied, "I’ll go with you."

Ye You looked up at Qin Sisi, he was indeed worried about leaving Sisi alone above the well as the ghost was quite eerie.

So Ye You replied, "Okay, let’s go down together, be careful."

Qin Sisi nodded her head, taking Ye You in her arms and standing at the edge of the deep well.

It’s not that she wasn’t afraid. She didn’t know how deep the well was, or what was down there. The unknown was the most terrifying. But with Ye You by her side, she felt more secure.

Qin Sisi gritted her teeth and jumped down.

The feeling of weightlessness made her dizzy and helpless, like a small boat tossed about in the vast sea, a strong sense of terror invaded Qin Sisi’s mind. Ye You was tightly holding her neck which did provide so comfort.

It seed like a few seconds, yet it also felt like an eternity before Qin Sisi felt her feet landing.

Did they reach the bottom of the well?

After awhile, Sisi regained her senses. She stomped on the ground to make sure and looked up. A few stars were twinkling in the small round well, casting a crisp cold light.

"ow!"

Ye You suddenly owed, short and rapid, pulling Sisi back from her gaze at the starry sky to the ghost-inhabited bottom of the well.

The depth of the well was about six ters, the diater not large, just enough for one to turn in a circle.

Qin Sisi looked around frantically, hugging Ye You tighter.

Looking around, she felt even more horrified.

The round well wall was covered in the Chinese character ’冤’ (wronged), each character bloodied red, as if a wronged spirit was telling its bitter tale.

However, even if these characters were indeed written in blood, over ti, the brightness of the blood would fade. However, the colour of these ’冤’ characters remained as bright as if it were newly written.

Could it be a newly deceased ghost?

Not possible. Qin Sisi imdiately dismissed her own thought — it had already been more than ten days since the cats had sent in information which should be enough ti for the blood to darken.

What puzzled Qin Sisi even more was that even though she could clearly feel the bone-chilling aura brought by the ghost, her eyes could not see a single trace of it. Was it because her Mana wasn’t strong enough?

Qin Sisi quietly asked Ye You, "Xiao Hei, I can feel it, but I can’t see it."

Ye You replied, "I also can’t see it."

"What?" Qin Sisi looked at Ye You in surprise. Even Ye You couldn’t see it. The space at the bottom of the well was only this big, the ghost was near at hand - so why couldn’t they see it?

"There’s a problem with these characters." Ye You’s gaze fixed on the bloody ’冤’ characters.

"Hmm." Qin Sisi made a sound of agreent, she also could tell that there was sothing amiss with these characters, but exactly what, she couldn’t quite say.

Ye You stared at those characters, and after a short while, a glimr of understanding flashed in his eyes, he said aloud, "I got it."

Qin Sisi felt a surge of energy, her eyes filled with admiration as she looked at Ye You.

Ye You raised his paw, emitting a beam of silver light. The light disintegrated into flickers of sparks, slowly approaching the well wall, ultimately disappearing into it as it burrowed in, fading entirely soon after.

Qin Sisi watched everything curiously as Ye You took action. The light disappeared, and nothing erged.

As Qin Sisi was about to ask a question, suddenly, a red light flashed before her eyes, and a ’冤’ character lit up.

Qin Sisi’s eyes widened in horror, staring unblinkingly at the spectacular occasion taking place before her.

Then, another ’冤’ character lit up, its bloody red radiance was brighter, like freshly spilling arterial blood.

Soon, all ’冤’ characters began to light up one by one on the well wall, and slowly detaching themselves from the wall, to float in mid-air.

At this mont, Qin Sisi and Ye You were surrounded by crimson ’冤’ characters, as if they were in an ocean of them.

At first, Qin Sisi felt it was strange, but as the bloody red ’冤’ characters got closer, her fear grew.

Just as Qin Sisi was about to ask Ye You for a plan, suddenly a sharp cry exploded next to her ears, "Wronged!"

Qin Sisi jumped up in shock, before she could even comprehend what had happened, countless voices ca from all directions.

"Wronged!"

"Wronged!"

"Wronged!"

...

The continuous eerie sound of ’Wronged!’ filled Qin Sisi with imnse fear. But she was surrounded by bloody ’冤’ characters with no place to run.

In her fear, Qin Sisi instinctively covered her ears with her hands, as she did, she felt sothing hard press against her ears and she realized, she had Divine Dog’s Fury.

Without a second thought and without looking, she swung the Divine Dog’s Fury out.

Qin Sisi didn’t see, but Ye You did, the ’冤’ charaters that were touched by the Divine Dog’s Fury rapidly faded in their bloody red color before dissipating into minuscule fragnts of a grain of rice size as they fell.

Ye You seemingly enlightened, stretched his paw lightly and a shinning silver ball appeared. Flinging the ball, it transford into a semi-circle wave of light rushing towards the blood-red ’冤’, where it went the ’冤’ dispersed, the dark-red fragnts fell like paper scraps.

As the front ’冤’ disappeared, the ones behind moved closer, and the continuous ’Wronged!’ grew in it’s eerie intensity.
