Chapter 1312: Chapter 1312: Bird-tail Mantis Shrimp
Qin Sisi felt a mont of darkness before her eyes; the space around her, filled with seawater, suddenly twisted and shook. The hand she was holding tightly with Ye You had unknowingly loosened, causing her heart to tremble involuntarily.
When she reopened her eyes, she found herself in a dim, cramped chamber with pitch-black walls all around, with no exit in sight.
"Xiao Hei." Qin Sisi attempted to call for Ye You but received no response. It seed that after entering the Sky Scar Labyrinth, one had to rely solely on personal strength to fight, as everyone had been separated.
She made an effort to calm down, cautiously moving along with her back against the wall, until she finally found a pitch-black hole in the corner.
For the sake of caution, she searched the chamber again but found no other exits.
Thus, Qin Sisi gritted her teeth, dove headfirst, flipped her tail, and swam down through the dark hole.
The light gradually grew brighter. As Qin Sisi was carefully observing her surroundings, a clear prompt suddenly sounded in her ears: "Welco to the Sky Scar Labyrinth, Level One, Bird-tail Mantis Shrimp, please prepare yourself."
Qin Sisi quickly halted her movents, drawing a short sword from her storage ring, ready for battle.
However, she was sowhat puzzled in her mind. This was the bottom of the sea; how could birds and mantises, which are land creatures, appear here?
Her question was soon answered as a gigantic, brightly colored shrimp appeared before her.
It was not a real Bird-tail Mantis, but rather a Bird-tail Mantis... Shrimp.
The legendary Shrimp Soldier indeed existed.
The massive Shrimp Soldier, with an azure blue head, a cyan body, and a vibrant peacock blue tail, had two round, turquoise eyes, several beige antennae, and two large, brown-red pincers.
Its entire body was dazzlingly colorful, resembling a fusion of a peacock and a mantis. No wonder it was called a Bird-tail Mantis Shrimp.
Qin Sisi was quite curious about this suddenly appearing monster and couldn’t help but scrutinize it more, initially forfeiting the chance to strike first.
Upon discovering her, the Bird-tail Mantis Shrimp imdiately raised its large pincers and charged towards Qin Sisi, the most powerful weapons it possessed, capable of crushing even hard tal to pieces.
Recognizing the difficulty of dealing with those pincers, Qin Sisi agilely dodged, causing the Bird-tail Mantis Shrimp to miss its target. Its turquoise eyes rotated to find her silhouette, launching another attack.
This creature attacked brutally, with a hard shell covering its body, boasting strong defensive power. Qin Sisi knew she couldn’t confront it head-on. As she engaged it in a series of maneuvers, she devised a strategy in her mind, deliberately avoiding a direct confrontation and constantly dodging.
The Bird-tail Mantis Shrimp repeatedly failed to hit her, growing increasingly irritated, its attacks becoming faster and more ferocious. Yet, as its focus turned solely to offense, it neglected defense.
When the Bird-tail Mantis Shrimp once again raised its large pincers to charge at Qin Sisi, it reflexively assud she would dodge again.
Qin Sisi did dodge but didn’t retreat far. Instead, she swam above the Bird-tail Mantis Shrimp, flipped her fish tail downward, and fiercely slashed at the thinnest part of one of its pincers.
The snow-white short sword shimred with the purple magical power she unleashed, slicing through the swirling seawater with sharp precision.
A burst of blue blood spurted out, and half of the Bird-tail Mantis Shrimp’s pincer was severed by Qin Sisi, quickly disappearing into the murky waters.
The Bird-tail Mantis Shrimp’s body shuddered in pain, raising its other large pincer in anger to strike the overhead Qin Sisi. Nevertheless, having succeeded in one strike, Qin Sisi retreated quickly, already at a safe distance, causing its attack to miss again.
The battle was far from over. Even though the injured Bird-tail Mantis Shrimp had its physical abilities greatly reduced, driven by anger, its attacks beca even more ferocious. But having been wounded once, it was significantly more vigilant than before.
Qin Sisi’s magical power was restrained, unable to reach its peak potential, forcing her to adopt a circuitous strategy. She continued dodging and maneuvering around the Bird-tail Mantis Shrimp, using a small portion of her magical power to form a defensive Magic Lightning Shield to counter its attacks, aiming to deplete its stamina.
Yet, as ti passed, she observed no signs of fatigue slowing down the Bird-tail Mantis Shrimp’s movents, a realization that troubled her greatly.
The Sky Scar Labyrinth was not a real place but rather a Magic Labyrinth. The monsters within it were conjured by magical power, likely never to tire out.
Understanding this key point, Qin Sisi abandoned her attrition strategy, opting instead for a defensive offense approach. She used the magic shield to draw the Bird-tail Mantis Shrimp’s attention while she positioned herself to strike from behind.
The duel between the human and the shrimp persevered for a long ti. Qin Sisi seized opportunities to counterattack, severing both of the Bird-tail Mantis Shrimp’s large pincers and a few antennae. After a prolonged battle, she finally managed to crack its tough shell.
The Bird-tail Mantis Shrimp’s physiology worsened, finally slowing down. Qin Sisi also felt a hint of fatigue. She quickly swallowed a Spirit Revitalizing Pill, then raised her short sword for a close-quarters fight, at last slaying the first-level BOSS, the Bird-tail Mantis Shrimp, under her sword.
Its massive shell lost its vitality, drifting with the waves, and then exploded in a burst of dazzling light. When the light faded, the Bird-tail Mantis Shrimp’s body vanished, leaving in its place an exquisite piece of Cyan Armor.
The prompt sounded once more: "Congratulations on passing the first level. You have acquired the Shrimp Soldier Armor of the Bird-tail Mantis Shrimp. Please find the entrance to the second level."
The tight furrow in Qin Sisi’s brow loosened slightly. She swam forward to take the Shrimp Soldier Armor. The na wasn’t impressive, but its defensive power should be quite good. Having just fought the Bird-tail Mantis Shrimp, she was well aware of how hard its shell was.
Upon touching the Shrimp Soldier Armor, a floating prompt light card appeared before her: "Shrimp Soldier Armor, capable of increasing defensive power by thirty percent. Do you wish to equip it?"
Below were two glowing options: Yes and No.
This question required no deliberation. Qin Sisi decisively clicked "Yes." Previously, she had outfits made from fabric infused with magical power that could provide so form of defense, but now having turned into a cat, unable to wear clothes, she had been vulnerable during fights, which was disadvantageous for her.
After making the choice, the Shrimp Soldier Armor automatically fitted onto her, emitting a cyan glow before disappearing.
