Chapter 129: Chapter 129: Advancing through Retreat_1

Ning Hao had been following Qin Sisi closely, watching the developnt of the situation. Seeing the bald man try to act like a ruffian, he intervened imdiately. Luckily, he was dressed in casual clothes, which wouldn’t cause trouble for his professional image.

Wu Cheng, seeing his associate at a disadvantage, was filled with rage and humiliation. Pointing at Qin Sisi and Boss Zheng, he cursed, "You two scamrs! Not only did you scam

out of my money, you even resort to violence! Is there no justice in this world?"

"Exactly, return our money you swindlers!"

"And cover the bald brother’s dical expenses."

...

Ning Hao extended his arms to protect Qin Sisi and Boss Zheng behind him. Ye You nestled quietly in Qin Sisi’s arms, her violet eyes perceptive and cold, imprinting the faces of the abusive crowd in her mind.

Boss Zheng was upset. This was happening in his shop, if a fight broke out, it would be impossible to continue doing business in the future.

Good deeds never leave the house, but bad news spreads far and wide. If his reputation was tarnished, he would be finished in this industry.

"Xiao Wu, calm down, let’s talk things out," Boss Zheng, trying to remain patient, attempted to reason with Wu Cheng.

"Enough talk. Either return the item or the money this year!"

Wu Cheng roared, and they surrounded Qin Sisi’s group. The tension in the air was palpable, and a fight was on the brink of breaking out.

At that mont, a commotion ca from outside the shop.

"What’s going on? Scatter, scatter!"

After a few reprimands, three or four uniford police officers rushed in and created so distance between Wu Cheng’s group and Qin Sisi’s group.

Wu Cheng was jubilant earlier, relying on the strength of numbers for advantage. In reality, he wasn’t that bold. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been initially scared by a few words from Qin Sisi and Boss Zheng.

Seeing the arrival of the police, Wu Cheng felt anxious. Although he believed he had suffered a loss, leading a group to cause trouble was also against the law. If they encountered a tough cop, there was a chance they would all be taken in for questioning.

Thinking these thoughts, Wu Cheng decided to strike first. With a look of gratitude on his face, he turned to the police, "Officers, I’m so glad you’re here! Please, you have to do sothing for !"

"Speak calmly. No fighting and making a scene," the police warned sternly.

Wu Cheng quickly nodded in agreent. People who ca with him would naturally act according to his attitude. Seeing that Wu Cheng was compliant, they all obediently retreated to the side.

Seizing the chance, Wu Cheng relayed his experiences, portraying himself as a pitiful victim and Qin Sisi and Boss Zheng as deceitful scam artists.

After listening, the police exchanged a quick glance with Ning Hao, then approached Qin Sisi and Boss Zheng to ask, "And what do you have to say?"

Boss Zheng felt bitter but remained composed. "Officers," he began, "Please, listen to ..."

"Boss Zheng," Qin Sisi interrupted, "I think I should do the talking."

Ye You quickly whispered in Qin Sisi’s ear while Wu Cheng was playing the victim. A plan of retreat erged in Qin Sisi’s mind.

Qin Sisi took a step forward, positioning herself between Boss Zheng and the police. She said to the police, "Officers, all this is rely a misunderstanding. Boss Zheng only gave an evaluation on an antique that Wu Cheng brought."

Hearing this, Wu Cheng beca irate. "Nonsense! Both of you said there was a ghost in the blue and white Porcelain."

Qin Sisi calmly looked at Wu Cheng and asked, "Mr. Wu, do you believe in the existence of ghosts?"

Wu Cheng replied imdiately, "Of course not, these are all superstitious beliefs."

Qin Sisi concealed a faint smile. She continued calmly, "Then, do you have any statues of gods of wealth or sothing similar in your shop?"

Wu Cheng was dumbfounded and montarily at a loss for words.

Most businesses would have a lucky charm in the store, aiming to attract wealth.

In the antique market, it’s even more significant. Almost every shop has statues of gods of wealth or Guanyin, and they would also have incense burners and eternal lamps to attract business and ward off evil.

However, the location of the statues is usually hidden, and custors cannot see them.

There was a statue in Wu Cheng’s shop as well. But at this mont, he found it difficult to admit it. He had just denounced the belief in ghosts as superstition and now he was confessing that he had idols in his shop. Wasn’t that contradicting himself?

Saying he didn’t have one wasn’t an option either, his shop wasn’t far from Ju Ya Zhai, and checking it out would be a simple task.

Qin Sisi ignored him after she asked the question. She turned to the police and said, "Officer, there’s no definite answer to the existence of gods and demons in this world. And with antiques having such a long history, no one can say for certain what’s hidden inside. Whether Mr. Wu believes in it or not, we were just trying to warn him out of goodwill."

"Goodwill my ass! You clearly had ulterior motives!" Wu Cheng couldn’t help but curse again.

The police officer scolded Wu Cheng irritably, "I didn’t ask you anything, be quiet."

Feeling defeated, Wu Cheng shut his mouth.

Qin Sisi glanced at Wu Cheng and continued, "When Mr. Wu found out about the uncertainty with the blue and white Porcelain, he was terrified. He willingly sold the Porcelain to , and the one-dollar price was his proposal."

"I... I was deceived by you guys!" Wu Cheng felt wronged and blurted out.

The police officer turned his head and glared at him. Wu Cheng shrank back and lowered his eyes.

Qin Sisi took a deep breath and said in an intentionally loud voice, "That being said, it’s truly pitiful that Mr. Wu lost tens of thousands. I can understand his feelings. Now that he regrets it and with the arrival of the officers, I’ll return the blue and white Porcelain to him."

Upon hearing this, Wu Cheng looked up abruptly at Qin Sisi with an incredulous expression.

Not just him, even the police were surprised. However, Qin Sisi’s attitude pleased the officers. She had shown respect to their profession and given them due face.

Boss Zheng’s face changed drastically and he exclaid in surprise, "Sisi..."

Qin Sisi turned around and said reassuringly, "Boss Zheng, please stay calm for now."

After speaking, Qin Sisi gave Boss Zheng a wink.

Boss Zheng had been in business for a long ti and was good at reading people. Seeing Qin Sisi’s deanor, he guessed she had another plan.

Even though he and Qin Sisi had only t twice, Boss Zheng admired her. Qin Sisi’s clear argunt and composed deanor impressed him, and he put more trust in her.
