Chapter 1223: Chapter 1223: My Na is Huan
Lingering zither music flows through the air, each note like a transparent, clear glass ball, persistently striking and provoking the environnt that brings forth inner demons.
Xiao ng’s sobs gradually cease, and a hint of vivacity returns to her previously vacant gaze. She looks around in confusion and, upon seeing Qin Sisi, her face softens into a peaceful expression. She asks perplexedly, "Sister Sisi, what happened?"
Qin Sisi gestures with her chin towards the little girl in green and replies in a deep voice, "Illusion Technique."
"Illusion Technique?!" Xiao ng exclaims in shock, not expecting to be unwittingly ensnared by an illusion. She wipes away her tears, realizing that her earlier behavior must have been quite embarrassing.
Her face reddens, and she irritably shouts at the little girl in green, "Whose child are you? Why tease people without reason?"
The little girl in green huffs and, pouting, says, "Without reason? Look at what you’ve done to my Da Bai!"
As she speaks, the little girl points to the large white tiger, which Xiao ng had entangled with her Inescapable Net. The tiger is still struggling within the net.
Qin Sisi blinks, thinking that Da Bai is indeed a fitting na.
Xiao ng looks at the white tiger and raises an eyebrow, asking, "Is it your pet?"
"No, it’s my friend," the little girl responds crisply and firmly.
"Friend? You befriend demonic beasts?" Xiao ng asks, astonished.
The little girl counters, "Why not? Who says humans and demonic beasts can’t beco friends?"
"Alright, then!" Xiao ng feels it beneath her to argue with a little girl, so she simply concedes. With a gentle wave of her hand, the vine net unwinds, freeing the white tiger.
"Da Bai, are you alright?" The little girl in green steps forward, gently stroking the tiger’s body as if comforting it.
The white tiger nuzzles her with its furry head, behaving gently. They appear to be quite close, proving the girl’s words true—their friendship is real.
Qin Sisi is moved, as if seeing herself with Ye You, and she asks the girl softly, "Little girl, do you live in this forest?"
The girl in green nods and says, "Yes, I live here with my mother. Many of the demonic beasts around are my friends."
"That’s amazing! I wouldn’t dare to befriend demonic beasts," Qin Sisi praises her before asking, "By the way, what’s your na?"
"I’m Huan," the little girl replies cheerfully.
"Huan? Just one character?"
"Yes! Isn’t it nice?" the little girl asks, looking at Qin Sisi expectantly.
Qin Sisi smiles, "Not at all, it’s lovely. I’ve just never seen a one-character na before."
The little girl glances at Qin Sisi, patting the white tiger’s head and asks, "What’s your na?"
"My na is Qin Sisi."
"What’s that sister’s na?"
"Her na is Xiao ng."
"Oh, they’re not one character after all," the girl observes.
Qin Sisi presses her lips together and tentatively asks, "And your mother’s na? Is it also just one character?"
The little girl hesitates, then replies, "My mother said not to tell her na to others."
"Why is that?"
"I don’t know either," the girl shakes her head.
Throughout the conversation, the girl never lets go of the white tiger, showing their friendship is genuine.
Qin Sisi watches the girl’s expression. She is open to Qin Sisi’s questions, perhaps feeling lonely despite the companionship of beasts, with whom she can’t converse.
Qin Sisi pauses, then continues, "Is your mother’s na also one character?"
"No, my mother’s na is four characters," the girl replies a bit pridefully, thinking that while her mother forbade sharing her na, she said nothing about the number of characters.
Qin Sisi laughs, "Four characters? Impressive! Is the first character ’Huan’?"
"How do you know?" the girl asks, wide-eyed and incredulous.
Feigning mystery, Qin Sisi says, "I not only know her na starts with ’Huan,’ I know her full na."
"What’s her na?" The girl is eager to know if Qin Sisi knows it, amazed at the seeming magic.
Qin Sisi proposes, "How about a bet?"
"What kind of bet?" The friendless, guileless girl easily follows Qin Sisi’s lead.
"If I’m right, you take us to et your mother; if I’m wrong, you can ask for anything from ," Qin Sisi suggests lightly, as if it were a ga.
"Alright, if you’re wrong, give
your zither," the girl looks at the Half Moon zither with a tinge of admiration, either curious about its enchanting music or fond of music itself.
Qin Sisi smiles slightly, "Alright, I accept. Now, listen, your mother’s na is Phantom Spirit Lian Yue."
The girl’s eyes widen in disbelief, her mouth agape, having never expected Qin Sisi to guess her mother’s na directly.
"Little girl, was I right?" Qin Sisi asks softly, cautiously, worried the girl might deny it.
Reality proves better, as the girl nods and responds readily, "You were right. Do you know my mother?"
Qin Sisi shakes her head, "I don’t know your mother, but I heard of her na and her exceptional Illusion Technique talent."
"Indeed, my mother’s Illusion Magic is unrivaled," the girl says with so pride.
Qin Sisi feels a jolt—is her Illusion Magic truly unmatched? Could Lian Yue still wield magic? Wasn’t her Magic Source destroyed by herself?
"Let’s go!" The girl glances at Qin Sisi and Xiao ng, leading Da Bai as they head into the forest.
"Where to?" Qin Sisi, lost in thought, initially doesn’t follow.
"To et my mother, right?" The girl looks at Qin Sisi as if she’s daft.
Qin Sisi, amused, pats her head and says, "Right, right, I almost forgot. Thank you, little one."
"No thanks needed, a bet’s a bet," the girl replies with spirit.
So, a ten-year-old girl leads the large white tiger ahead, with Qin Sisi and Xiao ng closely following, venturing deeper into the enchanted forest.
