Chapter 1099: Chapter 1099: Searching for the Truth
"How is it possible there’s nothing?" Qin Sisi naturally didn’t believe Jiu Ge’s words, her eyes slightly tinged with anger.
Jiu Ge replied calmly, "There’s nothing because there’s nothing. Are you going to eat these two pills or not? If not, I’ll throw them away."
After saying that, he pretended to toss them away. Qin Sisi quickly grabbed his hand, snatched the two pills, and fixed her gaze on Jiu Ge’s eyes. In a low tone, she said, "Keep your word. If I take the pills, you’ll tell
whether you’re connected to the disappearance of those girls."
Being able to heal herself and get answers at the sa ti, Qin Sisi thought this deal was worth it.
"Alright." Jiu Ge replied, a hint of an imperceptible smile flashing through his eyes.
Qin Sisi glanced at Jiu Ge, picked up the two pills, and promptly put them into her mouth.
When the pills entered her stomach, a warm current slowly spread throughout her body, nourishing her wounds. A faintly cool spiritual power flowed into her Magic Source.
Qin Sisi could feel the fullness of her magical power, but when she tried to activate it, she still couldn’t.
She sighed helplessly and set the matter aside for now, turning to Jiu Ge and said, "Now can you answer my question?"
"It has nothing to do with ." Jiu Ge uttered these three words before turning to leave.
Qin Sisi froze for a mont, then imdiately ran up to block his path, pressing him further, "Nothing to do with you? Then who is responsible? Who were they sacrificed to?"
Faced with a barrage of questions, Jiu Ge rely blinked and said lightly, "You’re asking too much. I only promised to tell you whether it’s related to . I didn’t agree to answer all your questions."
"..." Qin Sisi was montarily speechless. Jiu Ge’s earlier words indeed seed to be that way.
Li Li, standing to the side, cast a sympathetic glance at Qin Sisi. Playing clever tricks? How could Qin Sisi be Jiu Ge’s opponent in that?
Jiu Ge wore an expression of slight smugness as he bypassed Qin Sisi and prepared to leave.
Unwilling to give up, Qin Sisi stopped him and argued, "Jiu Ge, the Changkong family are the rulers of Midair City, aren’t they?"
"Of course they are." Jiu Ge didn’t hesitate to answer, as the response was self-evident.
"As rulers, shouldn’t they protect their people from harm? How can they do the opposite—not only failing to protect, but secretly harming them? Such rulers will surely be overthrown sooner or later." Qin Sisi said resolutely.
Jiu Ge’s expression darkened, "Qin Sisi, who do you think you are? A savior?"
Qin Sisi shook her head, her tone softening slightly, "I’m not a savior. I just don’t understand."
"The Changkong family has their own reasons. You don’t need to understand." Jiu Ge replied coldly before continuing to walk forward.
Qin Sisi called out behind him, "Jiu Ge, is it true your mother is going to marry Tian Xiaozi?"
Jiu Ge’s strides faltered as he suddenly felt a sense of sha in front of Qin Sisi, as if he had no face to et her.
Qin Sisi tried to reason with him, "Tian Xiaozi is the type of person who would kill his own brother and persecute his nephew. He is definitely not a benevolent man. If the Changkong family pledges loyalty to him, they won’t escape the fate of being discarded after their use. Both you and your mother need to think this through!"
Jiu Ge’s back quivered slightly.
He understood. He understood everything Qin Sisi was saying. But when the heavens decide to rain, and his mother decides to marry, what else could he do besides drown his sorrows and feign ignorance?
That was his mother—his only family in this world.
Jiu Ge’s face was as dark as a storm cloud, almost ready to drip with anguish. He flicked his sleeve and strode quickly away.
Qin Sisi wanted to chase after him and persuade him, but Li Li stopped her.
"His heart is already tornted enough. Don’t push him further." Li Li said quietly.
"Push him?" Qin Sisi didn’t understand Li Li’s choice of words.
Li Li glanced in the direction Jiu Ge had left, leaned close to Qin Sisi’s ear, and whispered, "Do you really want to know where they took those girls?"
"Yes." Qin Sisi answered imdiately, recalling the dazed eyes and fearful expressions of the girls in the cell. She truly wanted to uncover the truth. Even the weak deserve their right to live.
"Do you have Invisible Grass?" Li Li asked.
Qin Sisi searched her storage ring and found two stalks, gifted by Jing Jing during her trip to Taiyi Mountain. She had thought she wouldn’t need them and nearly forgot about them.
"I have two stalks of Invisible Grass. Each works for three hours." Jing Jing, now a Magic Spirit, had cultivated Invisible Grass that extended its invisibility ti by an extra hour.
"Perfect. I’ll take you to see the truth." Li Li’s words gave Qin Sisi a glimr of hope.
"Really?" Qin Sisi’s eyes lit up.
"Yes, but we must go secretly. You have to listen to my instructions, and no matter what you see, you can’t act impulsively. If we’re discovered, both of us will die." Li Li’s voice grew increasingly cold and grave.
Qin Sisi sensed faintly that the truth might be far more terrifying than she imagined.
"Alright, I promise. When will we go?"
"At dawn, when the sun rises. I’ll co for you then." After saying this, Li Li turned and left.
Qin Sisi began to anticipate the coming dawn, feeling the passage of ti unusually slow.
That day, her three als were delivered by young, beautiful servants. Neither Jiu Ge nor Li Li appeared again.
Qin Sisi didn’t have much appetite, but to keep herself in good physical condition, she forced herself to eat more. Her magical power remained only slightly loosened—barely enough to summon the Wings of Rainbow or activate the invisibility effect of Invisible Grass, but not enough for combat.
That night, she slept for a while in the first half, but in the latter half, she couldn’t sleep, waiting restlessly for Li Li to arrive.
Just as her patience wore thin, Li Li finally ca.
"There you are." Qin Sisi exhaled deeply in relief.
Li Li’s expression was unchanged as she tossed a bundle to Qin Sisi and said, "Put on the clothes inside. If we’re discovered, just say you’re a servant from the young master’s chambers."
"Got it." Qin Sisi responded, opening the bundle. Inside were black clothes identical to Li Li’s.
She changed into the clothes, gave one stalk of Invisible Grass to Li Li, and together they unleashed their magical power to activate the invisibility effect.
To avoid getting separated, Li Li took Qin Sisi’s hand and led her out of the room.
Having lived here for many years, Li Li was very familiar with the surroundings. With decisive and steady footsteps, she led Qin Sisi around in circles until they finally reached a room paved entirely with white jade.
The room was pure white. Its walls, floor, and ceiling were all made of pristine jade, without a single flaw or impurity. It was clear the owner of the room knew how to indulge.
At the far end of the room stood a bathtub constructed from white jade, equally immaculate and spotless.
Li Li used her finger to write the Chinese character for "wait" in the palm of Qin Sisi’s hand, signaling her to be patient—the truth was about to reveal itself.
