On the other end of the phone, Isabella Gray was clearly not expecting Chloe Grant’s reaction to be so intense.
For a mont, she forgot to respond.
"What I an is, I’ve been driving... I can co back. I got this internship, and didn’t you specifically give a car? I’ve been driving it all the ti. I can’t just not use it, right Grandma?"
Chloe Grant obviously realized that she was a bit emotional, so she quickly smoothed things over.
Isabella Gray listened and felt she was right, "Mm, just be careful when you drive. Co over after work."
"Okay."
"That’s it then, you keep busy, and take care of yourself."
"Mm, okay."
After hanging up, Chloe Grant let out a deep sigh of relief.
She was planning to stand a little longer to adjust her emotions, but a commotion ca from outside.
Soon, the coworker who had invited Chloe Grant to lunch earlier rushed in, "Chloe, you better go out there! That Sister Lee from the neighboring departnt ca over looking for you, and she’s furious! Lucy was just resting at her desk and got woken up, now she’s having a spat with Sister Lee!"
Sister Lucy was the host who ntored Lily Grant.
She had put a lot of effort into getting the dubbing script, but recently, Molly Polis got the rights, so she’s been in a bad mood lately.
Chloe Grant nodded, and as soon as she stepped out of the pantry, she heard Sister Lee’s loud voice, "I’m looking for Chloe Grant, what are you fussing about here? Girl, let tell you, you’re not getting any younger, don’t be like Chloe Grant with such a ssy personal life, ssing up a fine young man!"
"This is your issue, take it up with her. Why are you causing a scene here? Don’t you know it’s lunch break?"
Lucy wasn’t soone easy to ss with either, and she snapped back imdiately, "I see you spend all your ti introducing this person and that person. Why don’t you sort yourself out first? You’re acting like everyone should follow your example, clinging to a man and then getting dumped! Now you’ve found soone without money, so what? Aren’t you still supporting that man!"
"Hey, you better watch your tone!"
Seeing the argunt escalating, the colleague and Chloe Grant hurried over.
As soon as Lucy saw Chloe Grant, she showed a sour face, "Rember to wipe your ass clean after using the toilet, don’t stink up the whole office, it’s annoying."
After saying that, she threw the pen in her hand, clicked her high heels, and walked out.
When passing by Chloe Grant, she gave her a side-eye and deliberately bumped Chloe’s shoulder.
Chloe Grant stumbled back several steps.
"Chloe, you better give a good explanation about Henry!"
Lucy was gone, and Sister Lee didn’t want to say more, so she faced Chloe Grant directly stating her purpose for coming today, "I introduced Henry to you, a person with such good prospects, and what did you do?"
"You took a bunch of delinquents and ended up getting Henry into the police station, and it cost two grand to get him out! Tell , do you think what you did was right?"
Sister Lee looked at Chloe Grant.
And although it was lunch break, quite a few colleagues were resting or eating in the office.
They were all watching Chloe Grant and Sister Lee like an audience at a show.
"Sis, let’s talk outside."
No matter what, Chloe Grant didn’t like being laughed at by others.
However, as she reached out to pull Sister Lee, Sister Lee stepped back, very resistant, "No need to go outside, there’s nothing more to say."
