Chapter 109: Chapter 109: Once Again
Bi Yuanhang took the alcohol back to his room to drink.
This ti, he didn’t plan to get drunk, just a few sips to ease his emotions would suffice.
Indeed, alcohol was a good thing.
After a few sips, he suddenly had a realization.
The life of the child today couldn’t be saved by his re wishes alone, the conditions of the border, the capabilities of the parents, and his experiences were the reasons for his early departure from this world.
His ability alone was truly too weak.
...
After realizing this, he decided to go wash up, then gather his emotions to prepare for bed.
However, as he was putting his toothbrush back, he accidentally knocked over a bottle of alcohol on the table, which crashed onto the cent floor with a sharp sound.
Weina had just returned from the restaurant and was entering the yard when she heard the sound of the bottle shattering; thinking sothing had happened, she hurried into Bi Yuanhang’s room.
“What happened?” asked Weina.
Bi Yuanhang was squatting on the ground collecting the bottle fragnts, looked up, and saw the concern in Weina’s eyes.
This was the first ti he had seen soone look at him with such an expression since he arrived in Wu Bian Town.
At that mont, he suddenly felt so aggrieved like a child and couldn’t help but burst into tears.
Since arriving in Wu Bian Town, Su ixi had been cold towards him, Gu Wei had rejected him, the townspeople were curious about him, and when he went to the villages for dical visits, the villagers only wanted him to try his best to cure the diseases without wanting to pay dical fees.
“What’s wrong with you?” Weina saw his tears and thought he was drunk again.
He shook his head, not wanting her to see him cry, and turned his back to her.
Weina went out to find a broom and mop, and quickly cleaned up the inside.
But the sll of alcohol was still heavy in the air, so she grabbed a fan to create so breeze.
As Bi Yuanhang saw her busying herself, he couldn’t help saying to take the fan from her, “Let do it.”
“I’ll do it.” She felt he wasn’t in a state to handle it.
But he didn’t want to trouble her, so he tried to take the fan again, “Let do it.”
“I’ll do it!”
As they struggled with the fan, their bodies accidentally brushed against each other.
Realizing sothing was off, they both stiffened, then looked at each other.
The more they looked, the more rapidly they breathed.
Last night’s events flashed vividly in his mind.
She turned to leave, but he suddenly embraced her.
“You’re drunk,” Weina reminded him.
“I’m not drunk!” he insisted and leaned in to kiss her.
She slled faintly of grease from her daily work at the restaurant, but mixed with it was a milky scent, bringing a human touch yet purely sweet.
“Do you know who I am?” she pushed him away and asked.
“Yes!” he responded and kissed her again.
Weina initially tried to push him away, but soon she was only half resisting.
She admitted to herself that she had been wild last night, unable to resist this man.
He was handso, with a delicate appearance that always carried a faint lancholy. He looked very clean in a white shirt, yet he was so gentle in bed, showing great finesse.
They rolled towards the bed.
Last night was a blur driven by drunken instincts, but today they were both sober and knew their hearts needed each other.
In the vast Northwest, they ward each other.
Moans escalated one after another.
…
Early morning.
Xiao Cui saw the boss lady coming out from Bi Yuanhang’s room again.
Although she was dressed, her hair was ssy and her skirt was wrinkled.
Xiao Cui’s mouth couldn’t help but form into an “o” shape.
There was definitely sothing going on.
…
Today, early in the morning, Su ixi received a notice that the Health Bureau was sending soone over, and the leaders of the construction team were coming too.
They had co to select a site and discuss where to build the new hospital.
Su ixi and Bi Yuanhang also went along for a brief mont.
Wu Bian Town had plenty of land available, and as long as one had the money, land could be allocated at any ti.
That afternoon, they settled on the location for the new hospital— a large plot of land 5 kiloters away from the town center, which used to be an abandoned factory spanning 6 acres.
Once the location was determined, the next step was drafting the blueprint.
Of course, these tasks were not Su ixi’s responsibility.
She was there primarily as a supporting doctor, so she couldn’t offer much advice on building the hospital.
Since it was Gu Cheng who was investing in its construction, it was bound to be exceptional.
A week later, as Su ixi was passing by on a dical call, she saw foundations already being laid on the site.
Forklifts, cranes, and concrete mixers were all present, creating a bustling scene, with many local children and adults standing around watching.
Out of curiosity, Su ixi took a look and saw a foreman holding the blueprints.
“I’m from the local hospital, could I take a look at those blueprints?” Su ixi asked.
Seeing that Su ixi indeed wore her work badge, the foreman allowed her a quick look and said, “Once this is built, you’ll all be more comfortable. Look, this is the main hospital building, this is the inpatient departnt, and there’s also doctor’s residences, a sports field, a fitness area…”
Both the main building and the inpatient departnt were only two stories high, but the sports and fitness areas were quite expansive.
From the blueprints alone, it looked like it was a nursing ho.
Su ixi handed back the blueprints to the foreman, then smiled.
…
“Have you seen the hospital your brother is investing in?”
In the evening, Su ixi asked Gu Wei.
Gu Wei was sitting on a small bench in the yard, peeling potatoes for her. The bench was too small, so his long legs had to stretch out forward, making him look both awkward and comical.
She had a whim that day to make him mashed potatoes akin to those from KFC.
As soon as he arrived, she had him peel potatoes while she figured out the seasoning.
“I saw the blueprints,” Gu Wei said.
Su ixi replied with a smile, “Actually, there aren’t that many patients in Wu Bian County. Even if they are sick, they don’t really co to see doctors. Building such a fancy hospital, I’m afraid it might be a waste.”
Gu Wei disagreed, “What if, once the hospital is finished, patients find it comfortable and want to co for treatnt?”
“But they still worry about the costs. Very few are willing to pay for health insurance.”
As he continued peeling potatoes, Gu Wei asked, “Is there any way to get them to pay for health insurance?”
“Lately, I’ve been thinking about this issue. I’m considering going door-to-door to raise awareness. Although it’s not typically a doctor’s job, raising awareness about health insurance is actually good for them.”
Gu Wei had not yet expressed his opinion when Su ixi started eagerly pouring out her thoughts.
Watching her animated expression, he couldn’t help but laugh.
…
In the blink of an eye, the Mid-Autumn Festival arrived.
It had been exactly one year since Su ixi had co to Wu Bian County.
On the day of the festival, there was a bonfire party that everyone could attend.
Su ixi and Gu Wei had planned to go together.
Dressed and ready to leave, she saw Bi Yuanhang and Weina coming out of a restaurant, one after the other, and looking a bit awkward.
“Hi, Mrs. Boss,” Su ixi called out to Weina.
Weina, seeing Su ixi, seed happy and walked alongside her.
“Where’s your Gu Wei?”
“He’s waiting for at the party site.”
“That’s good. I thought you were going alone.”
“And you’re here too, aren’t you?” Su ixi smiled.
“True.”
As the two won walked together, Bi Yuanhang trailed behind.
Su ixi glanced back at him and noticed his gaze fixed on Weina.
Those two definitely had sothing going on!
