Chapter 108: Chapter 108 Beginnings
Weina also reminisced about the events of last night.
She was wild, pinching him, grabbing him, and sitting on him for a long ti.
It was as if a river, long dried up, had finally received a tily rain.
That rain flowed through the furrows of her heart, nding the spiderweb-like cracks.
“I’m, I’m sorry, I…” Bi Yuanhang apologized with guilt.
Last night, he held her and perford many moves he had learned from adult films.
...
He wasn’t a virgin, having had a girlfriend in college, so he was experienced with such matters.
Weina shook her head, “You don’t need to apologize, I’m also responsible for this, I shouldn’t have drunk that much.”
“Then I… maybe I should give you so money,” Bi Yuanhang proposed.
In that instant, Weina suddenly looked up and glared at him.
Her eyes were beautiful, and when she glared, they exuded an intimidating force.
“How much do you plan to give ?” asked Weina.
“You… whatever amount you say,” he replied.
“No need, after all, I also took advantage of you, it’s not always the woman who loses out in these situations,” Weina said, and then she got out of bed.
Taking his blanket with her.
Bi Yuanhang felt a chill, as he was left with nothing on.
But he didn’t dare to object.
Wrapped in the blanket, Weina exited his room and ran into Xiao Cui.
Xiao Cui was shocked to see Weina wrapped in a blanket coming out of Bi Yuanhang’s room.
“Boss, you…”
Weina was montarily embarrassed and asked, “What’s up?”
“Nothing, just that it’s ti to open up the restaurant, I ca to call you.”
“Alright, I’ll be there in a mont,” she replied calmly.
Xiao Cui’s mouth was still agape in an “O” shape.
What exactly happened last night?
…
Su ixi didn’t sleep well last night.
The first half of the night, she watched the stars, and she fell asleep while doing so.
The latter half of the night, Gu Wei had a shift and dropped her off back ho, and after that, she hardly slept.
Fortunately, there were no ergencies today; two patients ca, one with a cough for whom she prescribed so dicine, and another with a foot injury that just needed disinfecting and simple wound care.
After treating the injury, Su ixi glanced unintentionally at Bi Yuanhang.
These past few days, at the clinic, Bi Yuanhang’s gaze almost always followed her.
She didn’t need to look up to know he was watching her.
So, she always ignored him.
However, the current Bi Yuanhang was lost in thought.
Occasionally, he would sniff his fingers.
And sotis he would smile.
Like a man in heat.
He wasn’t watching her anymore.
What was this situation?
Could it be that he had a romantic encounter?
Su ixi didn’t like to pry into others’ private matters, so she didn’t pay him any attention.
At noon, she went to the small restaurant to eat.
“Boss, stir-fry so lamb liver,” Su ixi called to Weina.
But Weina seed not to hear her and was lost in thought.
Su ixi called out again, and Weina ca to her senses, returning to her usual enthusiasm: “Stir-fried lamb liver, sure, have a seat, do you want a drink?”
“A drink?”
“No… do you want a Sprite? You usually like Sprite, right?” Weina asked, her smile tinged with embarrassnt.
“Oh, then I’ll have a bottle,” Su ixi said.
At that ti, Bi Yuanhang also arrived.
Bi Yuanhang, alone and lacking pots and bowls, could only eat at the restaurant.
Seeing him co in, Weina’s face imdiately turned stern as if she hadn’t seen him.
Bi Yuanhang first sat down and then looked at the nu on the wall, which displayed the dishes and their prices.
After looking for a while, he only ordered a bowl of beef noodles.
Weina placed his order without saying a word, and Bi Yuanhang simply concentrated on eating his noodles.
While eating, Su ixi glanced at Bi Yuanhang inadvertently and noticed he was stealing glances at Weina.
But as soon as Weina turned, he bowed his head and continued eating.
Su ixi seed to sense sothing brewing.
There was definitely sothing going on between those two!
Sure enough, it’s dangerous for a man and a woman to live together; trouble is bound to happen sooner or later, be it in the morning or at night.
Su ixi had heard about the restaurant owner; she wasn’t from around here originally. After her husband had died, she had moved here, probably to be closer to his spirit. That’s why she had opened a restaurant, and it had been several years now.
Over those years, many n pursued her, but she did not want any of them. Her fiery personality, along with her good relations with the military personnel, ant that eventually, no one dared to bother her.
Everyone had co to accept that she wanted to remain a widow for life.
The Su ixi of the past thought being alone was fine, but recently, imrsed in a passionate romance, she felt that being in a couple was better.
Having soone care about whether you ate well, soone to look after your emotions, soone to solve your worries promptly—wasn’t that better than being alone?
So, Su ixi genuinely hoped that Weina could find a man who was her equal so that they could live their lives together.
As for Bi Yuanhang, setting aside his past entanglents, Su ixi thought he was actually quite good—a fair and handso doctor with a promising future, and he ca from a decent family. He would match well with Weina.
She just didn’t know how far their relationship had developed.
Of course, Su ixi would not get involved; she could only continue to ignore Bi Yuanhang, not giving him the slightest chance. Only then might he truly give up on her.
After finishing her al, Su ixi greeted Weina, “I’m off!”
She didn’t even give Bi Yuanhang a glance.
Bi Yuanhang’s attention had been on Weina, and only now did he notice Su ixi.
Seeing that Su ixi didn’t even look at him as she left, he couldn’t help but feel saddened.
After eating, he went back to his room in the courtyard to rest.
After a short nap, when he ca out, he just saw Weina returning as well.
There weren’t many custors in the restaurant in the afternoon, so Weina usually ca back to rest.
When they t, both felt sowhat awkward, thinking of the incident from last night.
Bi Yuanhang wanted to say hello, but Weina went back to her room without uttering a word.
He felt a bit stifled, as if no one was paying him any mind.
…
That afternoon there was an ergency—a child from a family had fallen from a mountain and was unconscious, needing a doctor.
Bi Yuanhang volunteered to make the house call.
Upon arrival, he determined the child had intracranial hemorrhage and needed imdiate surgery, but the local hospital was not equipped for craniotomies. All Bi Yuanhang could do was administer so dication to open the blood vessels and then urge them to send the child to the county hospital for ergency treatnt.
The child’s family asked about the cost, and Bi Yuanhang told them it would be around seventy to eighty thousand with insurance, or possibly upwards of a hundred thousand without.
The child’s family discussed it, and with tears streaming down his face, the father decided not to bother and the child passed away that afternoon.
It was the first ti Bi Yuanhang felt the helplessness of rural health care.
The worth of a human life could not outweigh the cost of expensive dical care.
Being a physician trained in traditional Chinese dicine, it was rare for him to see such a vivid life slip away before his eyes, so when he returned that day, he was in a very bad mood.
He decided to get so alcohol to drink.
Weina asked him, “Why are you drinking again? Drinking every day is bad for your health!”
Bi Yuanhang looked at her and said, “I’m in a bad mood.”
Seeing how downcast he was when he ca back so late, Weina asked, “What happened?”
“Sothing work-related,” Bi Yuanhang said.
“You made a house call?”
“A child died,” Bi Yuanhang said.
Weina sighed, then took out a bottle of Erguotou and handed it to him, “Then have a little, but don’t drink too much.”
