Chapter 1244: Chapter 54: Xuanxuzi, Sky Tower_3

“Indeed.” Xuanxuzi’s face also beca much more solemn, no longer as relaxed as before, “Years ago in that great battle, nearly turned the whole Gu Yun State into a wasteland. Those Outer Heaven Demons… they are very troubleso, even for us Immortals. If we don’t handle them carefully, it’s extrely easy to fall into their trap, extrely difficult to deal with.”

“These Outer Heaven Demons… what do they look like exactly?” Xiao Jie asked curiously.

“They take many forms,” Xuanxuzi recalled, with a trace of disgust in his tone, “Birds, beasts, fish, insects, distorted humanoid shapes, demons, ghosts, evil spirits… all sorts of forms, they seem to have no fixed appearance.”

At that mont, a gigantic figure suddenly caught Xiao Jie’s attention. At the center of that wasteland, there lay a giant remnant that was a hundred ters tall! The giant’s entire body appeared in an ominous black and grayish tone, its face partially missing, revealing a massive gap where one could clearly see an internal structure, not of bone or flesh, but a peculiar hollow, decaying wood-like form. Despite being dead for countless years, it still emitted a heart-pounding residual pressure.

“This giant… was also one of the formidable mbers of the Outer Heaven Demons back then,” Xuanxuzi spoke in a low voice, with a hint of lingering fear.

“This fellow was extrely hard to deal with, with a strong physical body capable of devouring Immortal Law. It took no less than a dozen Daoists to join forces and lay down a Big Array, sacrificing greatly, to finally kill it here.”

He paused and reminded Xiao Jie solemnly: “These Outer Heaven Demons mostly possess a particularly troubleso characteristic—they can absorb, transform, and even annihilate Spiritual Energy and Mana. Never engage in close combat with them. Once captured or invaded by them, even an Immortal’s body faces mortal danger; the Immortal Yuan will be rapidly eroded and drained, and Spiritual Sense also risks annihilation. The best response is to continuously bombard them from a distance with spells, exhausting their original energy…”

Xuanxuzi’s words were earnest, and Xiao Jie listened intently, making sure to rember them.

Finally, they gradually arrived at the very edge of Gu Yun State, onto an isolated island suspended in the void.

At the end of that secluded island, atop an exceptionally tall and seemingly sky-reaching steep peak, stood a massive stone tower!

The stone tower was gray-black, extrely archaic in design, even simplistic, towering several hundred ters high. The tip of the tower seed like it could pierce into the endless Void above. The tower was incredibly smooth, without any windows, reliefs, or decorations. Only at the very bottom, there was a tightly closed heavy stone gate ford of gigantic stones, stark with not even a door knocker or inscription.

“Look, that’s the Sky Tower.” Xuanxuzi pointed at the stone tower and said, “I wonder what the idea was behind building this tower by that Daoist, creating such an unusual dwelling.”

Indeed, this stone tower lacked the elegance and spiritual charm that an Immortal’s dwelling should have; it only exuded an ancient and primitive aura, a rugged and heavy barbarian atmosphere.

Like a primitive giant using brute force to pile up countless enormous stones randomly, yet looking truly magnificent and spectacular.

The mont Xiao Jie laid his eyes on the stone tower, he suddenly understood—this was it!

It wasn’t that he had so special perception, but on his ga’s interface small map, he could clearly see a gigantic golden question mark icon, prominently marked inside the tower! This golden question mark was obviously the NPC special icon for players to hand in quests in the ga!

“Daoist Sui Feng, do you have any special feeling about this tower?” Xuanxuzi noticed the change in Xiao Jie’s expression and asked tentatively.

“That’s right, this is exactly what I was looking for.” Xiao Jie nodded, speaking in a heavy tone. He was almost certain that the Sky Tower was the next station in his “Heavenly Road” quest.

“That being the case, Daoist Sui Feng, would you enter and explore it?” Xuanxuzi asked.

“No,” Xiao Jie shook his head, “not for now.”

He didn’t refuse, but he didn’t dare to enter rashly. From his vast gaming experience, many key plots often trigger directly when a player enters a specific area.

He had encountered nurous such situations before, clearly without gathering enough clues or preparations, accidentally entering a map or conversing with an NPC, directly switching to the next plot, or even worse—triggering the final Boss battle unprepared, causing quest failure or a poor experience.

He wasn’t sure whether, if he pushed open that stone gate and entered this mysterious “Sky Tower”, the system would directly judge it as “opening the Heavenly Road” and without further ado throw him into the crisis-filled “Great Thousand Worlds”. This kind of unknown risk is not to be taken before being thoroughly prepared.

“Thank you so much for leading the way, Daoist Xuanxuzi,” Xiao Jie expressed his gratitude to Xuanxuzi sincerely, “Let’s head back.”

Xuanxuzi felt a bit puzzled by Xiao Jie’s behavior of reaching the doorstep but not entering, yet as he was an Immortal, his deanor was excellent, and he did not ask further, only nodding: “You’re welco, Daoist.”

Thus, the two once again rode on the clouds, retracing their path back. The journey was silent, and soon they returned to the Mountain and Sea Painting Realm, enveloped in mist and brimming with Immortal Qi.

Descending from the clouds, Xiao Jie cupped his hands towards Xuanxuzi once more: “Thank you very much, Daoist.”

“No need for thanks, it was no trouble at all.” Xuanxuzi waved his hand and then asked, “Then, Daoist Sui Feng, what do you plan to do next?”

Xiao Jie turned, gazing at the distant imposing Scripture Pavilion, and said lightly: “I need to cultivate well, to improve my strength as much as possible.”

Whether or not he goes to the Sky Tower, he must enhance his strength as much as possible to have greater confidence.
