Chapter 1243: Chapter 54: Xuanxuzi, Sky Tower_2

“Daoist friend, there’s no need for you to be concerned about whom I encountered,” Xiao Jie waved his hand, “Just consider this as an offhand question, assuming there is such a trigram, in your opinion, where does it point to? Or do you know if there’s any Immortal or secret realm in the Immortal Realm associated with the words ‘Heaven-Reaching Trigram’?”

Xuanxuzi, seeing Xiao Jie unwilling to delve into the origins, did not pursue further but stroked his beard and fell into deep thought. After a while, he suddenly seed to rember sothing and uttered a gentle “Hmm?”

“This ‘Heaven-Reaching Trigram’ itself, I, a poor Taoist, cannot unravel, nor do I know where to begin. However…” he changed his tone, “Speaking of things associated with ‘Heaven-Reaching’, there indeed is a place in the Immortal Realm—there’s a ‘Sky Tower’, perhaps… it ets your requirents.”

“Sky Tower?” Xiao Jie’s spirit was lifted.

“Indeed.” Xuanxuzi nodded, “That Sky Tower stands on Fangzhang Mountain of Gu Yun State, and it was once… hmm, the residence of a Daoist friend in past tis. In those days, the Gu Yun State was where the Group of Immortals gathered, and immortals from various places established dwellings and immortal residences here, presenting a prosperous scene. Unfortunately, later, the Outer Heaven Demons launched a massive invasion, and after a fierce and tragic battle, the Group of Immortals suffered significant losses. Most of these dwellings have been abandoned or destroyed, with few remaining. The Sky Tower is among the relatively well-preserved ones, though long uninhabited.

The Gu Yun Immortals have all gathered within the Mountain and Sea Painting Realm.”

“What is the na of the Daoist friend who constructed the Sky Tower?” Xiao Jie hurriedly inquired.

Xuanxuzi shook his head: “This… considering the bygone tis, after the war, many things are blurred, and I truly cannot recall the na of that Daoist friend at the mont.”

Is it really forgotten, or like that ‘Wuming Taoist’, is the related information obscured or blurred by so force? A thought inexplicably arose in Xiao Jie’s mind.

“In that case, Daoist friend Xuanxuzi, may I trouble you to take to take a look at the Sky Tower?” Xiao Jie requested.

“There’s no harm,” Xuanxuzi was easy-going and agreed readily, “Since there’s nothing pressing, even watching the fighting insects in the pot has beco boring. Co, follow .”

The two ignored the renewed clamor at the rim of the pot behind them, descending from the Immortal Palace on a cloud, flying out of the Mountain and Sea Painting Realm, heading deep into the Gu Yun State.

On top of the auspicious cloud, the gentle breeze brushed their faces. Xuanxuzi seed to rember sothing and casually asked, “Sui Feng Daoist friend, having descended to the Mortal World and traveled widely, have you heard any news of those two children of mine? Naly those little fellows, Qingfeng, and Ming Yue.”

“The two True n, Qingfeng and Ming Yue, are now renowned figures in the Mortal World as esteed experts of the Xuan Sect and leaders in Taoism,” Xiao Jie honestly inford, “In several prior battles, countering the Demon Star, and sweeping away demons, the two True n have contributed significantly and earned much credit.”

“Heh heh, is that so?” Xuanxuzi showed a complex smile, shook his head slightly, and sighed softly, “Who would have imagined that those two children, once muddled under my tutelage, only knowing to sweep the courts and guard the Pill Furnace, would have the opportunity to beco leaders fearing no duties in the Mortal World, defending all living beings…?” His tone bore a mix of marvel at ti’s passage and solace in the children’s growth.

“Speaking of which,” Xiao Jie recalled sothing, “The two True n, Qingfeng and Ming Yue, have asked about Daoist friend Xuanxuzi’s recent circumstances and expressed great concern.”

“Ah,” Xuanxuzi sighed again, a hint of desolation in his expression, “Mortals, after all, are deeply affectionate and grateful, treasuring old friendships, so nothing can be blad on them.”

“If Daoist friend Xuanxuzi feels longing, why not accompany and descend for a visit? With the abilities of us Immortals, what prohibitions or rules could truly bind us?” Xiao Jie tentatively asked.

“Ah, better not.” Xuanxuzi shook his head again, his tone resolute, “Since… the ti for eternal farewell draws near, there’s no point in eting once more, it would only elicit more sadness.”

“Eternal farewell?” Xiao Jie sharply caught the word, his heart jolted, “What does this an? Why do you say this, friend?”

Xuanxuzi suddenly coughed twice, perhaps realizing a slip of the tongue, he quickly changed the subject: “Ahem… This matter involves too much, for a poor Taoist like , it’s inconvenient to speak more. If you truly wish to inquire of the details, perhaps… you can ask Daoist friend Shen Jizi.” He passed the responsibility to Shen Jizi.

Seeing that Xuanxuzi was unwilling to talk more, Xiao Jie realized any further inquiry would be in vain, so he had to temporarily press down the doubts in his heart.

In the ti they were speaking, the auspicious clouds beneath them had flown over several floating Immortal Mountain Islands, and the surrounding scenery beca increasingly desolate and broken.

Along the way, Xiao Jie noticed the land and the remaining buildings below were covered with many black, twisted marks, as if they had been corroded by strong acid.

The air was suffused with a thin but omnipresent gray mist, this mist carrying a breath of deathly silence and decay, wherever it drifted, rocks turned to dust, and land cracked. As far as the eye could see, there was hardly a glimpse of green vegetation, only so withered, twisted remnants of trees stood like charred remains, the ground covered with large patches of viscous, seemingly live black filth, reminiscent of those black substances seen in the Inner World, only more dim and lifeless.

The entire peripheral region of Gu Yun State was evidently a scene of post-apocalyptic desolation.

“Are all these… scars left by the invasion of the Outer Heaven Demons back then?” Xiao Jie prompting asked as he observed the devastation below. The level of damage far exceeded any battlefield he had seen prior.
