Xiao Buli and Bai Yunfei finished catching up and started to plan their onward journey. It would take approximately four to five days to reach the edge of the desert from the cave where Bai Yunfei lived. Fortunately, Xiao Buli no longer had to walk or rely on the Immortal Crane to fly; they could comfortably sit in a sedan chair carried by a Zombie and enjoy the desert scenery.
"However, water is going to be a problem. I don't have much left. Do you have a source of water?" Xiao Buli asked, raising a challenging issue.
"A water source? What makes you think this endless desert is like any typical desert? I'm afraid you'll have to conserve what you drink." Bai Yunfei answered nonchalantly.
"But how do you drink water?" No sooner had Xiao Buli asked the question than he cursed himself for being foolish. Considering Bai Yunfei's current state, it wasn't hard to imagine that he had long since stopped needing to do such anti-Zombie things as drinking water. "Alright, maybe you don't need water, but I do. If this continues, I might die of thirst first."
"Die of thirst?? This is a ga, how could you die of thirst? You can exit the ga, quench your thirst, and then return." Bai Yunfei asked, puzzled.
"Sigh!~" Xiao Buli sighed deeply, knowing that this issue was unavoidable, "I'm unable to exit the ga." Xiao Buli had used the base's equipnt to enter the ga because the mysterious Shadow in the ga had destroyed his computer. At that ti, Xiao Buli was in a dire situation, hidden in the Taiyin Sect's cave with Gu Yuexuan, who could kill him at any mont, and his soul had entered the Book Ghost's book. Thus, all of Xiao Buli's thoughts were focused on imdiately returning to the ga, without considering the issue of exiting.
After entering the ga, because he was continuously doing Sect tasks that required him to stay in the ga until they were finished, he never attempted to test the issue of exiting. That's also why when he saw Xuan Zhenzi, Xiao Buli didn't ask him this question. In the days that followed, as Xiao Buli struggled through the Barbaric Forest, he tried several tis to exit the ga but discovered he had no idea how. All of the original testers had entered the ga with soone by their side, but now, Xiao Buli was alone and inexperienced, not knowing how to wake up in reality. He rembered that Xuan Zhenzi had once ntioned they seed to have mastered the skill of waking naturally. But now, in the ga, eating, drinking, and traveling had the sa effects as in reality, so Xiao Buli thought he might as well stay in the ga until he found a way out. However, he hadn't anticipated that the difficulties would far outweigh the solutions. Today, he was forced to face this problem.
After hearing Xiao Buli's brief explanation, Bai Yunfei also felt troubled: "That is indeed a problem. Maybe you can hold out for four or five days, but I'm not sure you can make it out of this desert. The edge of the desert is strange—it seems you might need so other condition to pass through. If you can't get through, you'll have to go back to find water, and traveling from the edge of the desert to the edge of the Barbaric Forest would take nearly a month at the fastest. Unless you can keep flying over it, which I estimate would also take about ten days."
"Yeah, and who knows what I'll have to face next. If I can't exit the ga, I might end up with no way out." Xiao Buli started to worry. Sotis it's like this: when the signs of trouble are not clear, you think ignoring them will solve the issue, but when the problem becos evident, it's often too late to easily resolve.
"Hey, did you used to have dreams when you slept?" Bai Yunfei suddenly asked a seemingly random question while Xiao Buli was feeling distressed.
"Dreams? Doesn't everyone have dreams?" Xiao Buli was puzzled by his question.
"Yes, but so people have lots of dreams. I used to when I was a child, and I often had nightmares. But sotis, you suddenly realize in a dream that you're dreaming, and then you desperately want to wake up. Do you know what I would do when I wanted to wake up?" Bai Yunfei teased.
"Umm... open your eyes?" Xiao Buli felt the questions were becoming more absurd, but sohow they seed faintly related to his current situation.
"No, no, no, the exact opposite. I had to try really hard to close my eyes in the dream. If you keep your eyes open in the dream, you stay in the dream world. If you close your eyes, you can leave it." Though shrouded in layers of cloth bandages, Xiao Buli felt as if he could see Bai Yunfei with an 'understand now?' expression on his face, but the problem was he didn't understand.
"Are you saying that I should close my eyes now?" Xiao Buli, unable to understand, finally asked.
"Hahaha," Bai Yunfei laughed, of course knowing that Xiao Buli had not grasped his point. But sotis, it's just such monts that feel especially good, especially when the other person has turned into a Zombie state, and strictly speaking, isn't even human anymore.
