Eagle Eye lay prone behind the towering eaves of a trade building, gripping the handle of his sniper rifle with his cheek pressed against the cold tal of the gun. He had maintained this position for two hours now, ready to continue indefinitely if necessary.

However, it was clearly no longer necessary, as the target had walked out of the hotel.

Slowly fitting the target's figure into the crosshairs, Eagle Eye breathed steadily, though his heartbeat had quickened slightly. This wasn't his first mission of this kind, but even now, as an assassin, he could still feel the excitent and thrill of controlling soone else's life or death, no longer as disconcerted as he was during his first mission.

This scene, typically seen only in movies, was now happening to him. He was like the male protagonist of a film: what could be more thrilling than that? In comparison, his forr ordinary self, who spent all day playing video gas, was simply a loser and a waste of space; he found the thought embarrassing.

Eagle Eye wasn't his real na, but a codena he had chosen for himself after joining the Ancestral Dragon. Each person he worked with had their own codena, generally both cool and impressive. It seed the superiors preferred it this way, which pleased him; in their line of work, having a cool codena was indeed very important.

"Target has appeared; ready to fire on command," said Eagle Eye, using a voice he had practiced to sound especially cold and ruthless.

An old and authoritative voice ca through the earpiece, "Permission granted; take the shot."

As the words "take the shot" echoed in his ears, Eagle Eye decisively squeezed the trigger. The gun was silenced, so the target didn't fall at the sound of the shot, but they definitely fell, collapsing on the steps in front of the hotel.

Thump. A sudden noise ca from behind Xiao Buli, and he whirled around to see Qin Shimoon had fallen on the hotel's front steps, a copious amount of blood spilling from her chest.

Damn it, the target was her! He only realized it now. Obviously, the Ancestral Dragon feared Qin Shimoon might reveal too many secrets and wanted to silence her. They probably didn't target him first due to his defensive skills.

Before a second shot could hit her, Xiao Buli dashed forward, shielding her.

A crisp sound emanated from behind them, followed by ripples spreading through the air—the telltale sign of bullets hitting a Spiritual Energy Shield. The shield's durability was almost halved instantly, indicating the sniper rifle's bullets were far more powerful than ordinary firearms. Xiao Buli estimated that the shield's energy could withstand two more shots at most, which was enough for a sniper rifle with single-shot fire. He picked up Qin Shimoon and rushed into the hotel, simultaneously activating his durability restoration skill.

Biu, biu, biu, bang! Three consecutive shots hit their target, but all were blocked, and the last even put a small hole through the hotel's glass door. However, the target had already vanished from sight. Eagle Eye hesitated, reasoning that the person he hit in the chest was likely fatally wounded and wouldn't survive. Even so, without seeing her dead, he couldn't help but feel uneasy. Should he report as it was?

No! Eagle Eye thought. That would damage his reputation of a 100% mission completion rate. Besides, how could anyone survive a chest shot? He had definitely completed the mission.

With this in mind, Eagle Eye said in the sa emotionless, cold voice, "Mission accomplished; target confird dead. Awaiting further instructions."

"Return to base, Lieutenant Eagle Eye. You did a very good job."

Packing up his sniper rifle and dismantling it into parts inside a box, Eagle Eye leaped down from the sixth floor eaves and vanished from sight.

Inside the hotel, Xiao Buli charged into his own room with the panicked cries of the staff behind him, but he could no longer afford to care.

(Damn it, I was still too careless!) Xiao Buli internally chided himself, realizing that the actions of the Ancestral Dragon were far beyond his expectations.

"You can't die on ," he muttered to himself as he looked down at Qin Shimoon, who appeared pale and unconscious in his arms.

"Why can't I die? It would be better, dead, I wouldn't be controlled by you anymore."

Qin Shimoon struggled to open her eyes and said in a faint, self-mocking voice.

"Controlled?" Xiao Buli's mind snapped back to focus, "You must have gone through bullet wound debrident training, right? Tell how to remove the bullet from your body so I can save you."

"It's no use... I've lost too much blood... there's no saving now," Qin Shimoon's voice broke intermittently, seeming to grow weaker with every word she spoke.

Xiao Buli managed a slight smile, "Don't forget I'm the chief healer of the Green Dragon Group. What's this little injury? But first, I need to remove the bullet, or else you wouldn't want to keep a bullet inside you, would you?"

As he spoke, Xiao Buli tore open the wound on Qin Shimoon's chest; blood was gushing out from a rib, a grueso sight to behold.

Fortunately, it was just a small-caliber sniper rifle. Otherwise, if it had been blown to pieces, even with his impressive skills, he wouldn't have been able to save her.

Qin Shimoon wasn't so vain as to be concerned about being seen at a ti like this. Gritting her teeth, she said, "Help ... sit up."

Xiao Buli helped her sit up at a 45-degree angle.

Looking at the wound, Qin Shimoon sighed heavily, "The bullet... went through the space between the ribs... I guess it has already penetrated."

After saying this, Qin Shimoon closed her eyes faintly, seemingly at her limit. Xiao Buli didn't hesitate any longer—Touch of Healing!

Green light flickered on his hands over the wound, and the torn flesh and injury visibly healed.

Resurrection Skills! A burst of white light appeared, continually falling upon Qin Shimoon, restoring her vitality. The level five Resurrection Skills truly were effective. After applying Resurrection Skills and Touch of Healing alternately several tis, Qin Shimoon's breathing finally stabilized. Aside from her pale complexion, she no longer seed to be in mortal danger.

Xiao Buli sat on the ground with a thud. Thankful for the reprieve, she hadn't passed away.

Looking at his hands, covered in blood, Xiao Buli wiped them on a bedsheet. Glancing at Qin Shimoon, who was still unconscious, he realized it was not safe to stay here much longer. The police would probably arrive soon, and if they were trapped here, it would be hard to explain their situation.

With that in mind, Xiao Buli wrapped Qin Shimoon in a large bedsheet and carried her on his back as he jumped out of the hotel window. Regardless, he thought, it was imperative to find a safe place to settle down first. (To be continued.
