[Margaret’s Perspective]
The night seed devoid of both moon and starlight, leaving the street visible only by the dim street lights.
I gave Mark a vigilant look, gestured forward with the gun in my hand, and the Lycans surrounding were highly tense, missing nothing.
The overturned black vehicle ahead was Louis’s, the majority of its body completely wrecked, with scattered debris and harsh brake marks on the ground!
We approached cautiously and found no bodies or bloodstains.
This breathed a slight sigh of relief, perhaps proving that none of Louis Brand’s party were injured. The attackers had co and gone without a trace, even capable of blocking satellite surveillance—they were clearly no amateurs.
"Spread out and search, report back to imdiately if you find any clues," I ordered.
The Lycans nodded, spreading out a bit with their guns, while Mark and a few others stayed close by my side.
I had no objections to this, aware of my own importance at the mont.
"Can you tell what kind of vehicle the attackers used? Their speedy attack and retreat don’t seem like a sudden assault."
Upon hearing my question, Mark crouched down and began a silent observation. I diverted my gaze from him and looked towards the Lycans searching the bushes nearby.
They carried night-vision equipnt, making the dark woods fully visible, and just then, a flashlight from one of the Lycans flashed across a tree branch, and I caught a glimpse of a torn red scarf hanging there!
Of course, such an obvious item couldn’t escape the personal guard force’s sight, and the piece of fabric soon made its way to .
"This is the fabric from the clothes Lisa was wearing today. It seems they made a stop here after the attack, keep looking carefully for more clues!"
I said, clenching the scarf in my hand, glanced over to that area again with furrowed brows, filled with perplexity.
The situation gradually beca stranger. After about 15 minutes of searching, apart from the torn scarf, we found nothing more, and the case hit a deadlock.
After a thorough examination of the site, Mark returned to and reported seriously, "Your Highness, we found so fragnts of leather in the dented areas of the vehicle, possibly from the attackers’ vehicle. I’ve had it analyzed by those skilled in such comparisons; they said the vehicle series is likely an official one specifically from the Lilo Sea..."
As Mark intently reported the details, he suddenly paused, his eyes fixating for a few seconds.
I knew soone was establishing a mind-link with Mark, and a sense of foreboding washed over as I stood straight to look at him.
Mark’s expression quickly cleared, and he spoke rapidly, "It’s Eric; he says the manor was suddenly attacked by a group in black. Fearing danger here, he confird our location and is now on his way to join us!"
"Your Highness, what do you think we should do now? Should we contact His Majesty and join them? We’re always especially worried when you are out like this!"
Mark said, his expression becoming anxious as he looked at with concern.
I knew what he feared. After thinking for a mont, I responded gravely, "Eric’s injuries haven’t fully healed, we should withdraw and regroup with him first. Also, since the situation at the manor is unclear, we shouldn’t return rashly. There aren’t many Lycans left on watch, don’t let them confront the enemies directly; have them evacuate too..."
I paused for a second, then after another two seconds of silence, continued, "Let’s et outside the manor at Angel Bridge, tell them to move quickly and discreetly. Go!"
Mark nodded and turned to make contact the mont I finished speaking. I headed back to the vehicle we had arrived in, my heart racing a bit too fast, a very bad feeling surfacing, but I couldn’t pinpoint what it was.
This night was destined not to be peaceful, both for White Rose Manor and myself.
Mark and I quickly reached the rendezvous point, approaching midnight by then. The cool night breeze made close the car window slightly, feeling sowhat queasy.
The timing for such discomfort was highly inopportune. I rubbed my belly over my clothes, took a deep breath, and whispered softly, "Baby, you need to behave, now is not the ti to fuss. Mommy has important things to do; don’t scare , okay!"
Of course, the baby couldn’t respond to my words, but it seed as if sensing my sentints, the discomfort in my belly eased after a few minutes, providing so relief.
"Where’s the Lycan Queen? Why are you all waiting directly in the vehicle? It’s too easy for hidden enemies to spot you this way!"
Eric and Mark’s voices ca from outside the window; I pressed the window down and spoke in a low voice, "Get everyone in the vehicle, let’s leave here first."
