[Margaret’s perspective]
The compassionate Moon goddess pities all her children, but could there be so drawbacks to this seemingly arbitrary and authoritarian way of determining mates?
After all, we are living werewolves, not just driven by instincts rooted in our blood and bones. We also have our own emotions and dependencies.
"Elizabeth wasn’t as happy as before after she got together with Armstrong," I murmured the final conclusion, feeling the warmth in Donald’s embrace and looking up to see the expression on his face, "Do you find it strange that I think about these things? After all, you and I were also chosen by the Moon goddess to be mates."
As if seeing the uncertainty and doubt in my heart, Donald lowered his head to kiss and chuckled in response, "I think your point makes so sense, I’ve never heard such a unique theory before."
He pondered it seriously for a while before continuing, "Judging by Elizabeth’s reaction just now, she must have made a decision, right? Anthony is a great choice. After this incident, Elizabeth finally clarified her own feelings, and that’s why you laughed just now, am I right?"
Donald really is the most astute Lycan King, guessing everything incredibly accurately.
I smiled and kissed his lips back, playfully blinking my eyes and softly said, "Spot on, smart, this is your reward."
"My ’reward’? That’s not quite enough, I want more!"
Donald’s gaze slowly deepened, filled with startling desire, but he seed to rember sothing and sighed helplessly, "Considering you were injured today, you can owe . You stayed up all night with yesterday, are you tired now? I’ll take you back to the Eastern Shine Palace to rest, and we’ll have dinner together later."
Before I could refuse, Donald quickly arranged everything. I couldn’t help but smile lightly, not opposing his arrangents.
Today really was eventful, and Donald still had a lot of work to attend to himself. He tucked in before he got up and left, and I closed my eyes peacefully and soon fell asleep.
I really was exhausted these past two days.
When I opened my eyes again, it was already 2 a.m. Unfortunately, this was a tricky ti as I noticed the empty bed next to and realized belatedly that Donald hadn’t co back to the bedroom to rest.
I frowned slightly and imdiately used mind-link to contact Donald: [Sweetie, where are you?]
[Awake? I’m in the study. There is a ssage here; you can co and listen to it. Take your ti; I’ll wait for you here.]
Luckily, Donald responded quickly. I put on my slippers and walked out of the bedroom, heading straight for the small kitchen across the hallway.
Donald was alone in the study, sitting behind the desk with a slight frown between his handso brows, holding his phone and seemingly lost in thought.
"What’s wrong?" I approached him, setting down the hot milk I was carrying next to him, and asked warmly.
Donald looked up at , a smile appearing on his face, "Thanks, sweetie. Co here."
At his words, I parted my legs and naturally settled into Donald’s embrace, tilting my face to look into his stunningly beautiful eyes and continued, "What ssage requires to co over to hear? Is there sothing I can help you with?"
Donald wrapped an arm around my waist, he touched my cheek with his other hand, and after a brief two-second silence, he began, "Eric’s scouting team disappeared at Lilo Sea; Christian hasn’t been able to contact them for several days now. I find this very strange."
"And the Lycans I sent to track Henry and the Rebels all ca back empty-handed. They lost them near Mol Lake to the southwest. I suspect Henry had arranged for soone to et them there. Moreover, they successfully evaded all the checkpoints and searches along the way with the other party’s help. Heading further south from Mol Lake, it won’t take many days to reach into the Lilo Sea territory..."
Hearing this, I had already roughly understood Donald’s point—Henry and his group ultimately escaped successfully, bringing along the burdenso Lillian, as well as the body of the deceased Austin!
Thinking about this, more confusion arose in my mind. I couldn’t understand what terms Lillian and Austin, these siblings, offered to make Henry rember to bring them along during his escape, even though it caused a lot of trouble for Henry.
Donald didn’t know much more than I did, and he couldn’t truly answer these odd queries.
I looked at Donald’s face, temporarily pressing down the doubts in my heart, and then took up Donald’s question and continued, "So, do you think these two incidents are connected?"
