[Margaret’s POV]

When I beca aware of the sudden brightness in front of , a surge of intense pain from my right shoulder and half of my body ca crashing over . I let out a stifled groan that was unbearable, but the sound and my breath only bumped against the oxygen mask on my face, failing to make much noise.

The fact that Donald could hear such a faint sound at all was actually quite remarkable.

My head felt heavy and foggy, and I was extrely sleepy, yet there was a voice above my head calling to incessantly!

I was incredibly familiar with this voice; it was like an excellent painkiller or tranquilizer, inexplicably comforting .

"Margaret? Baby, you’re finally awake! Don’t rush to move, the effect of the anesthesia in your body has just worn off, and your shoulder must be hurting a lot, right? I’ll call Ace over right away to give you a painkiller injection, just bear with it a bit longer."

Donald’s voice was filled with a mix of emotions—happiness, distress, and urgency—all of which rushed into my ears at once!

I squinted, trying to see him, but the morning light was just as piercing to my eyes at that mont. It took a good while before I could clearly make out the Lycan King in front of .

"Are you... alright? Are you hurt anywhere?"

My voice must have been very weak, but I was sure Donald heard every word.

His hot breath and kisses landed first on my forehead and then gently on my eyelashes, as if I were the most precious treasure of his life. "I’m fine, baby, not injured. You... you little fool, I didn’t need you to take that bullet for . You really scared to death, baby!"

Donald uttered a heavy sigh, as if a massive stone in his heart had finally and truly hit the ground.

At that mont, my sluggish brain couldn’t support in analyzing the love and tenderness behind Donald’s words.

Just as I was about to say sothing else to him, several doctors in white coats suddenly sward around my hospital bed. I figured they must have been the ones who snatched back from death.

So, I really wasn’t dead. Angel had aid that shot at Donald’s life, and I only suffered a minor injury. Thinking about it, it seed that Donald and I had co out ahead.

Having co to this conclusion sowhat unexpectedly, I was hit by a wave of sleepiness welling up inside , and my eyes slowly closed again.

I don’t know how much ti had passed, but when I woke up again, Donald was still by my bedside, with a very beautiful and kind-looking lady sitting next to him.

Donald’s eyes, very similar to hers, were deep and bright, and looked incredibly beautiful. However, Donald had a more intimidating presence and depth, not quite as gentle as her.

"It looks like she’s awake, Donald," I heard her say softly.

Donald imdiately turned his head toward , his eyes twinkling with joy as he hurriedly asked, "Baby, are you awake? Do you want so water? How are you feeling now, is there any discomfort anywhere? Take your ti, there’s no need to rush!"

Donald’s barrage of questions ca at like machine gun fire, leaving sowhat overwheld. I stared at him blankly, not knowing which question to answer first!

Fortunately, the beautiful lady beside us couldn’t bear to see confused for long. She seed to pat the excited Donald, then turned to with a gentle voice asking, "Your shoulder shouldn’t hurt as much now, right? The doctor just gave you pain dication. Do you want to drink so water or go to the bathroom?"

I looked at the lovely lady, and after a mont, responded with a hoarse voice, "I’d like so water, thank you."

At my words, she smiled slightly and said, "No need to thank . Whatever you want to do or need, just tell directly. Donald is a bit rough and might not be the best at taking care of the sick. This is his first ti."

I could hear the teasing tone she had towards Donald, and while guessing her identity in my mind, I returned a light smile and turned to look at Donald again.

The description of him as ’rough’ was accurate; he seed to have forgotten to introduce to this lady!

Donald raised the hospital bed, fed a bit of warm water, and asked with tender eyes if I wanted more.

I shook my head, sowhat frustrated with his obtuseness at this mont; he didn’t seem to notice the curiosity and questions in my eyes. Indeed, it often seed I had to fend for myself!

Glancing at the beautiful lady behind him, I smiled gently and said warmly, "Thank you for visiting , Empress Dowager! I really didn’t expect our first eting to be like this, I’m so sorry."

Seemingly not expecting a patient to be the first to break the ice, both Licia and Donald looked at in surprise.
