[Margaret’s POV]
As long as she could completely enrage Angel, causing her to lose her ability to think rationally, Mark and his people ambushed in the birch forest would seize the opportunity to capture Angel and a few rogue leaders!
Indeed, the reason Donald was striking up so much conversation with Angel was rely to create a favorable ti and opportunity for Mark and his team.
Just a few minutes ago, Mark, dispatched by Donald, had suddenly inford us of his plan through a mind-link...
Initially, he had not found an opportunity to strike at Angel in the forest, until there was a sudden change in the stand-off on the battlefield—that was when Angel and those rogue leaders, escorting our incarcerated Lycans, walked out. That’s when Mark, on the spur of the mont, stealthily surrounded them with the intention of capturing Angel directly!
Of course, the prerequisite was to ensure the safety of all our fellow Lycans.
"Yes! I have betrayed the Wolf royal family and my own clan. Anyone can call a traitor, but you cannot! Donald, you cannot call a traitor! I’m doing all this for you!"
Angel continued to ramble on, stubbornly insisting that none of this was her fault and that she was innocent!
"Really? Was it I who made you severely injure Elliot, was it I who made you betray your own trust, was it I pressing down on your neck forcing you to cooperate with MASTER?" Donald asked back calmly, his intense glare seeming as though it was about to materialize into sothing tangible the next second.
And these continuous counter-questions instantly beca the last straw that broke Angel’s spirit!
At that mont, Angel seed to realize her inability to refute and, collapsing ntally, she raised her hand high, pointing her gun directly at Donald.
My heart tightened suddenly, and my reflexes acted faster than my brain could control my body!
I stepped forward and shielded Donald, and the bullet that should have hit Donald directly in the chest unexplainably missed by a lot...
"Hmm!"
"Margaret! You..."
The bullet grazed the flesh on my shoulder, and I let out an involuntary grunt from the intense pain that nearly shattered .
Donald’s cry of alarm sounded almost simultaneously above my head, and as I instinctively looked up at him, I could only make out his eyes full of surprise and fear before my lids slowly closed in exhaustion!
I felt such pain all over, and I was utterly exhausted...
[Donald’s POV]
The vivid red blossom of pain on Margaret’s shoulder shocked my eyes!
Instinctively, I stretched out my arms and urgently embraced Margaret, who was collapsing into my arms. I had not realized how panicked and fearful I was in that second.
I was kneeling on the ground, holding Margaret, my fingers trembling as I dared not touch her face, "Margaret? Baby? How are you, don’t scare ! Please wake up, talk to , okay?"
With her eyes closed, Margaret did not respond to any of my questions. I watched as her face lost color instantly, and I was dumbstruck!
It wasn’t until I heard other people around that I suddenly ca to my senses, turned around, and hysterically shouted: "Bring Benjamin here, Margaret is injured! Benjamin? Where is Benjamin?"
"Your Majesty! Please don’t panic, Benjamin is right behind; he’ll be here any mont!"
Louis also had imdiately rushed over when Angel fired the shot, and now he was helplessly looking at and the unconscious Margaret.
"Your Majesty, please don’t worry, the Lycan Queen was only shot in the shoulder!" a Lycan squatting at my left desperately said.
His reassurance was ineffective for . I gave him a cold side glance, wanting to ask him what he ant by ’only shot in the shoulder?’ Did he not realize who Margaret was? I wouldn’t allow Margaret to suffer any injury by my side!
Yet the irony was, being by my side, Margaret was always bound to get hurt.
Intimidated by my look, that Lycan froze on the spot, while Benjamin at that mont rushed over swiftly.
I didn’t bother with that Lycan anymore, focusing back on Margaret and Benjamin, "She took a bullet for and then passed out. Quick, check how she is!"
Benjamin, having been imrsed in battlefield dics for many years, was naturally adept at ergency care. He nodded respectfully at and then started examining Margaret’s wound.
Staring at the bloody gunshot wound, my hands holding Margaret trembled slightly, and Benjamin probably noticed but said nothing.
"The bullet is lodged in the bone! We need to perform surgery on the Lycan Queen imdiately to remove the bullet! Your Majesty, we don’t have adequate dical equipnt in the vehicle, we need to head back to the hospital in Royal City now!"
Benjamin just needed a few glances to determine Margaret’s condition, his tone extrely grave. I naturally understood the urgency of the situation.
