Chapter 1274: Protect Her Forever
“Why are you here?” Her face sank and she asked coldly.
“Treating you to coffee,” he replied calmly. “I counted the days and the rejection is probably coming soon.”
She was stunned. She had been captured in the underground base by him and had received such good care that her rejection had not acted up for a long ti and she almost forgot about it. “Why should I believe you?” she said stubbornly. “It could already be over.”
Wei Lingnan smiled. Looking at her, she seed to be like a mischievous little girl. “You can try.”
She narrowed her eyes, trying to figure out the truth of his words.
Maybe she should really try so that she could escape from his control.
“However.” Wei Lingnan smiled again. “You have to take responsibility for yourself, Ah Luo. Don’t co crying and pleading for later.”
“I won’t cry and plead for you.” She humph-ed.
Wei Lingnan said, “Yes, maybe you won’t. But your parents and siblings won’t be able to endure it and will cry and run to begging bitterly. Seeing how Li Lei and Xia Ling are such prideful people, it might actually be worth it to see them lower their heads.”
Xia Yingluo glared at him. This person was actually using her parents to threaten her!
“So, Ah Luo, are you betting on it?” Wei Lingnan asked gently.
“... I’ll drink coffee with you,” she submitted and said. After a few months of spending ti with him, she understood that this man was vicious. When he was in a good mood, he was easy to deal with, but once he beca unhinged, he was able to make things terrible for people. Even if she didn’t think about herself, she had to think about her parents. If she really angered Wei Lingnan and Wei Lingnan really set conditions that set things difficult, her parents were sure to grit their teeth and comply.
She was already so big, it would be unfilial if she made her parents worry more.
She sighed and glared fiercely at Wei Lingnan. “I’ve never seen anyone as shaless as you.”
Wei Lingnan wasn’t angry. “I don’t mind being understood by you.”
Xia Yingluo scolded his shalessness again and turned to walk.
Wei Lingnan still covered her with the umbrella, walking at a slow pace in the training camp’s forest area where the leaves fell, as if he were taking a leisure stroll. No matter how fast and angry Xia Yingluo walked, he was still calm and unruffled, his pace and expression remaining the sa.
It was Xia Yingluo who was unable to walk on further. Tired, she finally walked out of the little forest, panting heavily.
“Pervert, monster, you’re not human.” She glared secretly at the idle Wei Lingnan and cursed softly.
Wei Lingnan chuckled. “I’m not human. Ah Luo, once you’ve awakened the Skatana tribe’s genes and mories, you’ll discover how powerful we are.”
“I told you I’m not your Ah Luo.”
“You are.”
“Wei Lingnan.” His words stirred sothing in her and she suddenly turned to ask him seriously, “On what grounds are you so sure of that? Just based on speculation? Nobody else has ever witnessed such a thing as reincarnation—my mother isn’t counted, she was taken care of by the planet and is an original human. But the Ah Luo that you want to revive is an alien just like you. On what grounds do you think Earth allowed her to be revived?”
Wei Lingnan’s expression darkened and he didn’t speak.
Xia Yingluo was a little afraid, but still gathered her courage to say, “If I am able to be awakened, maybe I would have already, but until now, I don’t have a single mory about the Skatana Planet. Wei Lingnan, what if I don’t ever awaken and remain a human until I die? Are you going to wait for forever? Don’t waste your ti on anymore.”
Her voice dissipated in the autumn cool breeze.
Wei Lingnan stared at her for a long ti, his tranquil and peaceful eyes showing no hint of emotions.
Her heart was even more apprehensive and she spent a lot of effort to suppress the urge to run away.
After a long ti, he reached out his hand and held her face despite her avoidance. “You are Ah Luo,” he said, using force to stabilize her head as she tried to avoid him, his long and sharp nails digging into her cheeks. “You can’t be anybody else. You will awaken. One year, two years, ten years, twenty years, I will wait for you forever. Even until the mont you die, I won’t give up.”
She stared at him with watery eyes, flustered and worried.
“Wei Lingnan, you can’t do that,” she said weakly. “I have my own life, I want to find a man I like and be together with him. We’ll marry each other and grow old together. You can’t stop . You... you should find your own happiness.”
“You are my happiness.”
“No.” She shook her head, ignoring the piercing pain in her cheeks. Beads of fresh blood dripped down her fair and crystal-jade skin. “I’m not your happiness, Ah Luo is. And I’m not your Ah Luo.”
“You are.” He lowered his head and gave her a domineering, long kiss with his thin and cold lips.
“Ah Luo, I know you are her.” He embraced her and muttered in her ears, “Your breath, your sll, the way you talk and the way you get angry... You’re so alike her, so how could you not be her? I am the man you like, we’ll grow old together.”
Her heart started beating uncontrollably at his words.
At that mont, she almost sunk into oblivion.
But she knew she couldn’t.
“What if I’m not Ah Luo?” she asked him. “Then am I nothing to you?”
“I will protect you forever,” he said.
He understood her worries.
Actually, wouldn’t he worry about her identity as well?
After failing the experint for so many tis, Wei Lingnan couldn’t even rember how many tis he thought he had succeeded and yet had to endure the outco of failure... She was his last experintal material and he had deduced it repeatedly to ensure it was absolutely safe. But what if he had failed this ti too? Could he really treat her as viciously as he had the previous experints?
He didn’t know.
He didn’t even want to think about it.
She was her, she must be. Even if she didn’t recall it forever, he would nag her to her next lifeti and her next, next lifeti...
Since Earth was a planet that possessed the logic of reincarnation, then, a lifeti would co when she would rember him.
“Ah Luo.” His voice was even gentler. “Don’t be afraid. No matter what happens, I’ll be by your side.”
Her apprehensive feelings cald down a little, but her mouth still said, “I don’t believe you.” She didn’t dare to believe him. Her mother had once told her that n’s words were the most unreliable. Even though every ti Mother said that Father felt wronged, but with a teaching material like Pei Ziheng available, he didn’t stop her Mother from imparting such knowledge to her either.
Don’t believe promises. Only trust yourself.
She pushed Wei Lingnan aside. “Didn’t you say you wanted coffee? Let’s go.”
Since she couldn’t get rid of him, she could only take one step and see how it went. She wouldn’t fall into his hands, she definitely wouldn’t. She didn’t want to be his Ah Luo.
