Chapter 562: Golden Crops
The golden sheen on the two crops is so prominent that one would think that they are crops that are sculpted in gold. Even Elaina had a hard ti believing she was seeing these variants of crops. She was so astonished and in disbelief that she even asked the Grand Sage and Yona to verify that these crops were indeed real crops and not just variants that cannot be eaten.
As much as she wanted to ask the God of Farming about it, he was not present at the mont, so he decided to look for the Harvest Goddess, but she, too, was unavailable as she was resting after helping Mier recover slowly from the problem she experienced. In the end, she decided to just ask the opinion of the two people who might have an idea about it.
"I can’t believe it. No matter which side you look at it, it is indeed a gold crop. It’s gold color, and even its texture is very much like the gold bars I have handled in alchemy before. But it doesn’t retain any hardness from a normal gold, so it is still a crop in its own right...but this is the first ti I have seen this kind of crop before! Not even in my travels have I heard of regular crops growing a gold variant like this, so seeing one piques my interest!" The Grand Sage’s eyes seem to light up every ti he analyzes the gold crop before him.
"I agree with you on this, Grand Sage. Not only that, but it is oozing with mana and seems to be rich in power! I don’t know how you managed to grow a crop like this, Miss Elaina, but it seems that this crop is very important!" Even Yona is fascinated by the golden crop that Elaina ended up scratching her head, even though it isn’t itchy.
"So, is this thing even edible? I am not sure whether this thing can be eaten or not."
Yona looked at Elaina and lifted up one of the tomatoes on the table. "You don’t mind losing one fruit?"
"Um, no. I don’t even know if it is edible or not, so I don’t mind if you take one with you."
Hearing that, Yona, without even thinking twice, bites through the golden tomato like normal and starts eating it. The Grand Sage and Elaina were both flabbergasted at Yona’s action, but Yona quickly disregarded them.
"No need to worry. It seems that these crops are actually edible. And the tomato tastes really sweet as well. For so reason, it doesn’t even taste like a tomato at all." Yona swallows the tomato she was chewing before throwing the rest of the half-bitten tomato straight to her mouth.
"That was quite reckless, Yona!" Elaina frowned.
"True. Even I don’t eat imdiately of sothing that I haven’t confird to be edible. And yet you eat it without even any kind of preemptive asures, like an antidote for any kind of status ailnts you might experience from eating an unknown crop!" The Grand Sage shook his head.
"No need to worry. I am immune to all kinds of status ailnts, see? Ever since I beca a witch and studied various things, one of the things I made sure of is to make myself immune to any kind of status ailnts to ensure that every test I make will allow
to know what problems it might show if I use an ingredient in a potion. Treat it like so testing phase by using my taste buds to do so. By the way, the tomato is actually really good, and it doesn’t have any kind of poison or even paralytic effect. The only thing that is different from the ordinary tomato and this golden variant is the gold color, texture, and its abnormally high mana recovery ability. Oh, and the taste as well. It’s incomparable to a regular tomato in any way, shape, or form. If not for the fact that you have grown this crop on the sa tomato plants you have planted before, I would think you are actually using a different crop that looks and is shaped like a tomato," Yona explained before she examined the corn next.
Hearing what Yona just said, the Grand Sage is curious and also eats one of the tomatoes, and his eyes go wide.
"She is right! The mont I have bitten on this tomato, the mana in my body reacted and seed to have refueled so of my reserves. The witch is correct, this tomato has so capabilities comparable to High Mana Potions that recover mana when drunk...minus the taste. This one tastes really great."
Yona peels the gold corn, revealing the sa golden sheen of the corn, just more vibrant compared to the regular gold color of a regular corn. She quickly popped it straight into her mouth and started chewing it even though it was still raw and had not been cooked.
"Hmm, this one has so weird taste, but like the tomato, this one also does the sa thing. I don’t know why, but I think this would be great if boiled or grilled."
Elaina was surprised, but she also heavily sighed in relief now that she knew that it could still be eaten without problems. She was about to thank the Grand Sage and Yona for their help when she paused in her tracks upon seeing the Grand Sage. The Grand Sage, who is busy analyzing the corn, noticed Elaina’s stare.
"Hmm? Miss Elaina, sothing wrong? Why are you staring intently at my face?"
"G-grand Sage...your...your face..."
"Eh? What’s wrong?" the Grand Sage is worried.
Yona also glanced at the Grand Sage, and her face was also showing surprise.
"Wow, is this also part of the tomato’s effects? That’s quite big if I say so myself."
The Grand Sage looked so confused, so he snapped his fingers and conjured a mirror for him to look at his reflection. And as soon as the Grand Sage managed to see his face, even he was not expecting what he was seeing before him.
What he is seeing is not his usual old and wrinkled face; instead, what stares back in the mirror is a person who looks like him, but during his younger days, when he was still starting out in magic. In short, during his apprenticeship ti. What he is seeing is his real face, and he started touching his face just to ensure he is not getting any sort of illusion. And yet, all of his wrinkles that should be present on his face are now all gone.
"Did I just get younger after eating the gold crops?!"
