Chapter 558: Serpent Vs. Dragon [III]
Mier is now being carried by the Harvest Goddess’s arms, still wet from the pod that she was put in earlier. The curse has no significant change since the effects of the pod that Mier was placed in significantly halted the spread of the curse. Of course, now that her body is outside the pod, the curse will begin to kickstart once more, and they are not in a position to have the treatnt on her arm be delayed any longer.
Since Mier is now outside the recovery pod that the Harvest Goddess prepared, Elaina rushes back to the plant and checks its current progress. Elaina smiled upon seeing that the plant itself had already grown one fruit hanging underneath one of the leaves.
The plant looks similar to a lemon, but bigger, and is red. The sll is also a bit sweet, but she can also tell that, sohow, it has a tinge of putrid sll coming from it. It is a bit of a weird combination of various odor that even her nose seems to get confused on what she is actually slling.
"God of Farming, is it already safe to pick the fruit from the fruit?" Elaina asked. She can’t afford to cause an error since this is the only single plant that is available, and according to the God of Farming, there is no way to cultivate and have this specific plant be planted further and be used as a regular crop or fruit.
"[Before you pick the fruit, you should pick the first two leaves. The mont you pick the fruit off, the whole plant will wither and disintegrate. Best to have the leaves removed before it will be included in disintegration.]" the God of Farming said firmly.
"Gotcha," Elaina nodded and quickly checked the leaves. There are two leaves at the very bottom of the stem, which are also the ones considered as the oldest leaves of the plant, as they are the first leaves that sprouted from the stem when it started growing from the ground. The leaves are much larger compared to the other leaves that are just newly grown. As for why these leaves are the requirents, Elaina has no idea but she doesn’t care to ask. It’s not like she needed to know every single detail of the plant for her to use it.
Elaina first put down a small container on her side to put the leaves to safety and ensuring it won’t get dirty after removing them. Next, Elaina took out her small shear that she uses to harvest delicate fruits and vegetables. She didn’t want to pluck it with her bare hands.
Carefully plucking first leaf, a cool feeling seems to emanate from the stem as she pluck the leaf from it. It was like it released cold air after one of its leaves are plucked off. Elaina proceed to pluck the second leaf as well and just like the first, the second one also did the sa.
"That was kind of weird," Elaina comnts as she set aside the two leaves on the container beside her before she set her sights to the fruit.
The fruit’s sll is still weird. It looks like a lemon but it is as red as an apple. And with the combination of its weird odor, even though it looks like a tasty fruit, Elaina thinks the fruit is not edible. She might clap her hands if soone is brave enough to eat it and not puke due to the odor.
Despite the odor, Elaina held the red fruit with her palm. She can feel the cold texture of the fruit, like it has been encased by an ice for quite so ti. Using the shear she used to cut and remove the first two leaves, she carefully cut the fruit off of the plant.
As soon as the fruit has been harvested, the plant started to wither and disintegrate almost imdiately, causing Elaina to get shock montarily.
"[As expected. If its fruit is harvested, the plant will automatically die. Thankfully, we got the leaves first before the fruit was harvested, otherwise, those leaves will also disintegrate in the process.]" The God of Farming nodded like he has expected it.
"You designed it like this?" Elaina frowned.
"I have no other choice. Since we needed it to grow faster, I use a few plant mutations and took advantage of the way the fertilizer works to hasten its growth. And to ensure it will keep on growing in a fast pace without it dying as soon as it grows, I made the fruit as its little restriction to keep it alive for a little bit after it has finished growing. You can consider the fruit as the plant’s heart. The mont it was removed, the plant will imdiately die.]"
Elaina might have understood a little on what the God of Farming had explained to her, but it doesn’t really matter as what she needed to do remains the sa. Now that the materials that they need are now ready, it is ti for the treatnt to begin earnestly.
The Harvest Goddess has already arrived with Mier floating with her magic. Mier is still unconscious and still encased in a bubble that is made from the power of the Harvest Goddess. It is also to replicate the power of the pod just for a little bit while she is outside from it. Mier’s arm is also getting worse. Before, it was just from her hand up to her elbow but this ti, the curse spreads up to her shoulder. Without the pod, the infection would have progressed further.
"Is everything ready, Farr?" Harvest Goddess asked, truly worried on Mier’s situation.
"Yes. We can begin anyti now. Where is Mier’s mother?"
"I let her rest. She was helping with supplying energy to Mier before we put her into the pod. She is exhausted and might take a while before she reawaken. I hope this problem we are facing will be gone by the ti she wakes up."
"Thanks for letting
know. Let her rest and we do the task here."
Elaina grab the fruit from the container but then rembered that she has no idea how to actually use it. Is it even edible?
"Alright. But what should I do with these? Do I have to feed Mier with this fruit?" Elaina asked to the God of Farming.
"[No, the fruit is not edible. Use its juices to be slathered on the child’s affected arm before putting the two leaves. Leave the leaves for a little bit until both sticks a little bit. No need to worry as it should be fast so once the leaves are good to go, we can now use the watering can’s power to be transmitted to her hand.]" The God of Farming instructed.
"Didn’t expect the instructions to be a little bit simple yet a little bit complicatee as well. But it doesn’t matter. Let’s get to it right away."
The Harvest Goddess nodded and dispel the bubble capsuling Mier. She snaps her fingers and a giant leaf appears beneath Mier to catch her and acts as a cushion and temporary bed.
Elaina did not bother to marvel at the new abilities that the Harvest Goddess have shown. What is important is to have Mier be cured as soon as possible.
With Mier settled on the leaf, Elaina prepares the fruit imdiately and cut it in two halves. The inside of the fruit is similar to lemon but is more pulpy and thick in juices. She squish one of the halves to the affected arm and Elaina thought she was squishing a sponge full of water.
The half has a lot of juice but not enough to slather Mier’s whole arm to the fullest so the other half is also used to slather with the juice. Thankfully this ti, that sufficed to cover the whole arm.
Next, Elaina took the leaves and places them to Mier’s arm. Despite its size, the single leaf only covers a half of Mier’s arm. The second leaf manage to cover the remaining exposed arm, however which is good.
Elaina is not sure whether it was the work of the slathered juices that causes it to be a bit sticky but it was enough to stick the two whole leaves to Mier’s arm.
"Looks like it is ti for the watering can to work."
Elaina nodded as well. This is the most crucial part of their tasks and the reason the fast growing plant has been made in the first place.
The blessed watering can remains glistening as before. And yet, the power of a dragon is currently flowing on its infinite water. And along its effects is the power to purify and eliminate the tainted and corrupted which helped the World Trees to recover. However, will it even work with a person?
"Alright, I will be pouring the water now."
Elaina tilt the watering can and droplets of water fall from the holes of the watering can towards the covered arm.
And as soon as the water touches Mier’s arm, a burst of energy suddenly sprouts on Mier’s arm.
