Chapter 497: Ether Daggers of Sun and Moon
It’s almost ti for Elaina to visit the dwarves. Along with Adelaide, they returned to the village via the elevator. No need for them to fight through the hordes of enemies when they can just go and head over to the elevator and head straight down.
"Do you think the weapon they made for
is great enough?" Adelaide asked.
"I don’t know. You might have seen the quality of the swords that your twin and Raye are using, and considering the material we used to make your weapon, even if it isn’t on par with the quality of your brothers, there is no way it was inferior in the slightest."
As the elevator clanks through as it descends through the mines, Elaina observed Adelaide. Despite being soone who has rembered her past, she did not make herself like an adult, like how she reads most stories that revolve around reincarnation or regression. She embraced her chances of returning to her child form and decided to embrace it instead of becoming a mature adult imdiately.
Elaina is fine with that, and she honestly hopes that Adelaide forgets the bad things she experienced in her past life. After all, kids should remain innocent as long as possible until the ti they need to embrace the life of an adult.
By the ti Elaina is finished thinking about Adelaide’s past, the elevator arrives at their destination, and the "Ding!" sound rings as the rickety elevator opens its doors.
The mont the doors opened, the dwarves quickly welcod them as usual. Elaina and Adelaide then distribute the goods they brought with them per the request of the Village Chief.
Once they have finished their usual distribution, Elaina and Adelaide head over to the Village Chief’s house.
"Looks like you lot are here for the commission, eh? Just in ti. I just finished the final touches of the weapon a few hours ago."
Elaina then stops the Village Chief for a bit. "Chief, before we continue with the transaction, let
ask sothing. I always have this question in mind, but it always makes
forget about it every ti we are talking already."
"Sure. What is it?"
"As you can see, we have always been thinking that the ti outside is paused whenever we are here in the cave, but considering that you are still able to finish the job ans the ti does not pause outside the cave, but instead, the ti passes differently here compared to the surface, yes?"
"Of course. We have already gauged the ti of the cave and the surface, and the precise ti the cave passes by is that 7 days here is worth a month on the surface. This is why I always give you a deadline to pick up the weapons you commissioned
to make in a month, since that is the average ti I finish my crafts. When I gauge how much ti passes here while a day passes by on the surface, we calculated that 5 days and 6 hours have passed by on the surface while only a day has passed by in this cave."
Elaina snapped her fingers after learning the real-ti flow of the cave. Still, even if the ti does not stop there, having a place where ti flows slowly is already sothing that is sothing that is better hidden than shown to the world, as that will only cause more chaos if learned by too many people. There is a reason why no one uses random branches as wands and have them fully customized due to this problem. However, I don’t want to betray the wishes of the young lady so I decided to modify it and considering that the material you got for
has an excess, I make a deliberate function that would allow the weapon to continue working while also becoming a wand like normal."
After explaining it, he pulls out two shortswords with two different color, one is blue, and one is red."
"I call these swords, Sun and Moon. Sharp, fast and very good to be used for fighting enemies in lee combat. I made it to balance on your size and your arm’s length allowing you to easily wield it fast."
The village chief hands the swords to Adelaide and her eyes sparked with joy and excitent seeing the weapon in her hands. Even Elaina whistled in amazent seeing the two weapon’s craftsmanship. One can tell that the material did not go to waste due to how it has been made with extra care and intricate design, along with the blade’s sharpness that Elaina have seen even though it wasn’t tested fully yet.
"Now, here is the feature that I said before when I said that these shortsword’s length is not possible to be an alternative for wands. Channel so mana on one of the swords, little girl. Any of the swords works and it doesn’t have to be both at the sa ti, you can do it one at a ti."
Adelaide did what she was told and the mont she put mana on the blue shortsword, the shortsword’s blade shrinks and soon beco the sa size as a dagger. Not only that but the design is reminiscent to a regular wand sold in weapon shops.
"The Sun and Moon has a special ability to morph their blades and beco conduits of magic, allowing them to be used as an alternative wand for magic users. I call these forms of the shortswords, Ether Daggers," the Village Chief explained.
Adelaide checks the dagger’s sharpness and she was surprised since the dagger still retain the sharpness when it was still a shortsword.
"Even though it turned into a shorter weapon, it is still a weapon for fighting, so don’t hesitate to use it for fight if you can’t afford lee confrontation while fighting with magic. Not only that but the length of the sword will return in five seconds after one stops supplying any of her mana to the shortsword. That is how you activate and deactivate the sword’s little function."
Adelaide smiled hearing this, although it wasn’t what she was thinking, it ca out way better than she anticipated.
"Can I test it?" Adelaide asked.
"Test it on the monsters in the mines. I don’t know your strength and how to gauge how strong you can cast magic with, use it on the mines instead, as those places will not collapse no matter how big the damage is done to the walls."
After thanking the Village Chief, Adelaide and Elaina head back to level 5 of the mines. She needed to ensure the sword works as intended.
And as soon as they step out of the elevator, the monsters already appeared. Slis this ti around. They are weak to magic but their cores are hard to hit precisely so this will be a good practice for Adelaide.
"Let’s see how this works out," Adelaide grinned as she channels mana on both shortswords, turning both of them into dagger versions. A few more minutes and before the slis in the distance can react, Adelaide’s Ether daggers shot out two beams of magic on each daggers, destroying the slis in one hit as their cores explode upon contact with magic.
Adelaide turned to look at Elaina and with a grin, she happily announced her verdict. "This is perfect!"
