Davis was exiting his hut when a giant black bird suddenly crash landed in front of him. He was about to let out a curse when he realized it was just Jason.
The bird beastman shifted into his human form and cried out, "I got rejected!"
The rabbit beastman stared at him, confused as to what exactly he was going on about. He rubbed his eyes and muttered, "Can you start from the beginning? Who rejected you?"
Davis would be lying if he said he expected soone to reject Jason. The bird beastman didn’t seem like it, but he was pretty strong for his age, enough to compete with city beastn.
Any beastwoman from a village or tribe would be lucky to have such a beastman devoted to them. So of the rabbit beastwon were even eyeing him. But Jason’s personality could counter that benefit...
After all, he had a real talent for causing trouble.
"Serena rejected after I asked to be her mate." Jason answered, making Davis go still. "Is there sothing wrong with ?"
There’s a lot wrong with your brain... Davis muttered to himself. I’m surprised you had the guts to ask Serena. It’s clear to everyone she’s not interested in a mate.
"How did you ask?" Davis asked aloud with a sigh. "Did you prepare a courtship gift?"
Because one could never truly know with this beastman. Maybe Serena was interested, seeing how close her tiger mate and Jason had gotten, but then he ssed up sowhere.
"Courtship gift?" Jason tilted his head in confusion.
Davis gaped at the bird beastman. "Did you grow up without a mother? How do you not know what that is?! It’s the most basic thing you need when courting a beastwoman!"
"I did grow up without a mother...." Jason murmured. "The beastman who raised said you only need to be strong and ask the beastwoman nicely. He never said anything about a courtship gift... Is that why Serena rejected ? Because I did it wrong? But she said she didn’t like ."
Davis let out a sigh, rubbing his forehead. This idiot...
"Co inside..." Davis muttered, turning around to head right back into the hut. "We need to have a chat about your lack of common sense."
Jason grumbled about Davis being harsh, but followed the rabbit beastman into the hut anyway.

Serena was helping Theo clean up after lunch, noticing that the tiger beastman had been acting strangely. He would barely look her in the eye and almost jumped when their hands brushed.
She wanted to ask him what was going on. Was he upset about that whole thing with Jason? Or maybe feeling guilty about not telling her? She had been a bit upset about that, but brushed it off quickly.
It wasn’t like he could outright stop Jason. Beastwon had the final say when it ca to who would be their mate and their mates could argue. Not that it stopped so from doing petty things between their mate’s back.
"Sister, I’m going to play!" Kiro suddenly called out.
"Co back before sun down." Serena yelled back, watching the young cub run off to the village center.
She turned back to Theo who was wandering back to the fire area. This was the perfect chance for her to ask what was going on. She quickly walked over to him.
But before she could say a word, sothing appeared before her. She instinctively got into a defensive stance, ready to retrieve her bone knife. However, she quickly straightened up at the sight of Jason.
"What are you doing here..." Serena questioned with a frown.
She hoped he wasn’t here to pester her about making him one of her mates. Because she hated nothing more than soone who couldn’t take a no for an answer. Especially after acting like they had.
"I... I want to take back my words!" Jason exclaid as Theo appeared by his side. The bird beastman glanced over at him and added, "Don’t worry. I’m not here to cause trouble."
"Um... What do you an you want to take your words back?" Serena asked, confused.
Was he upset about the whole rejection and wanted to retract what he said or sothing? She couldn’t understand why he wanted to take those words back.
"Well, I realize I did this all wrong." Jason explained. "So I want you to forget about it all and let do it properly please!"
"No!" Serena cried out imdiately. "I don’t care how you do this, but my answer is the sa. Don’t waste both of our ti. You’re better off finding soone else."
Jason pouted before he sighed, "Fine... I won’t push it, but know that I’m being very serious about this."
He then left without another word, leaving Serena unsure what to say or do. She wasn’t exactly in the mood to deal with soone’s crush right now. But hopefully, Jason got the ssage now.
Because she would smack him if she had to do this for a third ti...
She turned her attention to Theo, who was staring back at her with so unreadable emotion in her eyes. It made her wonder if she was right in thinking this was bothering him too.
"Is sothing the matter?" Serena finally asked, breaking the silence between them.
Theo blinked, processing her words before he answered, "No..."
"You sure?" Serena pursed her lips. "You don’t exactly look happy."
"I must just be tired." Theo lied. "Anyway, don’t you have to et up with Finn or sothing? You said that you were going to do that after lunch."
"Shit you’re right!" Serena muttered before adding, "Don’t think this is over though."
She knew Theo was trying to hide whatever was going on and she wasn’t going to let him. Once she got back from eting with the Council, she’d question him about it.
Otherwise, things were bound to get awkward between them. And Serena didn’t need that happening. She was already dealing with enough nonsense as it was.
