When the banquet ended, villagers left with shiny lips, and al boxes filled with leftover food.
Since everyone was returning to their hos, it also ant that Calista had to do so as well.
However, she didn’t return to the manor alone, but with a crowd. Apparently, these people refused to return to their residences, as they were curious to hear what was happening.
Since she had never told them about it before, they weren’t letting it go this ti. Fortunately, she had prepared herself when she decided to reveal this information earlier.
At the manor, Calista hosted her guests in the huge living room and offered them so lemon tea to help with digestion.
Inside the living room, Calista looked at the people looking at her and couldn’t help but wonder just how story-hungry these people were.
There was Ba and Ma Susan, Susan, Diana and her four male friends who were traveling with her.
These people firmly refused to let the matter go and wanted to hear her explaining. Of course, she understood that they were simply worried about her. After all, this kind of news was truly unexpected and shocking to hear.
Sitting inside the room, Calista cleared her throat as she prepared herself to talk.
When she did that, all eyes firmly got fixated on her, with no one uttering a single word. After all, they didn’t dare disturb Calista from giving them the fresh details.
"Actually, it’s not sothing big or just a normal thing!" Calista said calmly as she placed her hands over her lap, looking at her guests with a smile.
Ma Susan, hearing that, flared up as she raised her hand and pointed angrily at her, demanding, "You .... Why didn’t you say anything? Why did you keep such a thing to yourself for so many months?" furious at how she could keep such a huge thing to herself.
Calista felt her muscles tensing hearing Ma Susan so angry at her like that. However, the deed was already done. What was the point of looking back now?
Nonetheless, she still looked at Ma Susan and said to her, "I am sorry that I didn’t tell you about it sooner. I was also angry that he just ran away without saying a word. You also know that when he left, he was supposed to go and buy dicines and other things. He fooled and, letting you know, I felt embarrassed. I just didn’t want to ...."
Thinking of how she allowed soone to fool her, Calista felt angry at herself. She didn’t want to share this, especially in the early days. getting reminded of Orson made her feel like tracking him and dealing with him.
However, by doing so, that would reveal the fact that she wasn’t ordinary. She didn’t want to attract too much attention and bring trouble to herself.
She still didn’t know why Orson endured her for more than a month and what he wanted truly. So, exposing her talents would make her a threat. And knowing the power that husband of hers has, judging from the kind of people he loved eting so much thinking that no one knew about it or seeing him, she didn’t dare risk her life.
Although no one had seen him, what about Whitey and Blackey who loves traveling in the forest a lot?
With how black and small Blackey was, how could anyone even spot that naughty snake?
Orson was wary of Whitey, but he was completely oblivious to Blackey, the son she had never boasted about in public before. And that led to him exposing himself greatly.
Whoever he was, he was soone with a special identity. It would be better if he left. He was the kind of person who would bring trouble to her doors without even searching for it.
Maybe he has a wife and kids as well. Who knows?
"I don’t know what’s happening with him, but what’s in the open is that he is gone. And since he is gone, then I won’t bother searching for him, and I won’t consider him anymore!" with a cold expression on her face, she declared.
"What about the child? Are you thinking of raising the child alone?" Ma Susan asked worriedly as she looked at Calista.
Calista nodded her head, answering, "Um. I will raise my child pretty well!" and with a snort added, "You know I have never cared about what people say about !"
So, what if she was a ho wrecker first, then a widow, a jinx, and now a single mother? She was going to live her life.
Anyone who talks behind her back would deal with that person with the harshest thod possible and refuse to give employnt.
"You ...." Hearing that, Ma Susan pointed furiously at Calista, cursing how that brain of hers works.
How dare she utter sothing like that?
Calista, however, chuckled faintly as she looked at Ma Susan with a reassuring smile. "Don’t worry about , Aunty. I can take care of myself. Besides, I have money. With money, the world rotates in the direction that you want it to!" shrugging her shoulders as if she were talking about a simple thing.
Ma Susan, at this ti, just wanted to beat crack that head open and see how it operates. She was so furious, but Ba Susan nudged her, motioning for her to cool down.
Diana, on the other hand, burst into a hearty laughter as she clapped her hands. "That’s my big sis!" she praised, her voice loud and piercing.
Slamming her hand on her lap, Diana said excitedly, "That’s how you do it, sis, instead of relying on these n. You do what you need to do on your own. Besides, it’s not like the world will end just because he left. You deserve much better than a coward and a thief!" before turning cold as she counted the man’s cris.
Calista bead at Diana, loving the other’s words.
"Um. He doesn’t deserve . I should have known when he ca to !" thinking about how mysterious he appeared and claid to have lost his mory when he didn’t and how she foolishly believed that she could change him when she learnt of his secrets. She shouldn’t have followed through with the wedding.
Talking about the wedding and the marriage, her attention suddenly shifted towards Ba Susan and she asked, "Uncle, did you surrender the marriage certificates at the offices?" curious about this matter.
Ever since she signed the certificate, she left everything to Ba Susan and never bothered to ask. After all, the man had always done his job.
Ba Susan, not expecting such a question, suddenly still responded seriously, "Um, I did. A week after the marriage. What is it? Do you want sothing?" and asked curiously, wondering why she asked such a question.
He wasn’t the only one, as everyone in the sa room was curious as well.
Susan, on the other hand, knowing her friend pretty well, was in a panic after hearing that. She couldn’t contain herself but asked hurriedly, "Cali, you, don’t plan on doing that, do you?"
