The harmonious lody rippled through the air like flowing water, serene and divine, as though announcing the descent of a god.
The sound was soon disrupted by an ugly sound that lay in stack contrast to it.
"Rraaarggh!" Several zombies flooded the street, their yellow eyes glowing with feral hunger.
From the other side, several Lizardn walked forward. Neither side attacked the other. It was as though they shared a single enemy as both groups marched toward the heroes.
"Raarrgg—!" The guttural growl of the zombie hung in its mouth as it was cleanly cleaved in half, the two sides falling apart like sliced bread.
"Ssss!" The lizardman lunged forward with a crowd spear, but as it reached the gravity wall, it felt the force pulling backwards on it, before it could react, a rope wrapped around its neck and jerked violently—
SNAP!
Its head tore free from its body.
"The numbers are rapidly increasing, it seems we’re getting closer" Rope girl said as she withdrew her long rope.
"Yes, we’re much closer to the impure now, by the next street we’ll see where the impure is staying" lody confird as she slowly opened her eyes, "Also, a massive horde of beasts is moving through the area." she warned.
Nectron frowned, "Alright. I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep the shield up against a powerful horde, so we have to prepare for the worst. That said..." He slowly scanned the group with his eyes.
"There’s twenty of us here, we’ll have to split into a group of four, that way we can watch out for each other while attacking." Nectron said calmly.
"Myself, Vixen, Pyron and Stelar witch will be heading each of the four groups since we’re the highest ranked heroes here."
They all nodded in unison as they heard him, they could all agree with his logic, since that way each group would have a better chance of survival.
He then shifted his gaze to Selena and the second supervisor that had entered the town with them, "I’ll have the two supervisors and lody with , the rest of you can decide who you want to pair with. But be fast, ti is not on our side"
Even before he was done with his speech everyone had already moved to the side of the hero they wanted to pair with.
Almost as though they’d already thought of it beforehand.
"Alright let’s—"
*Rumble*
The earth trembled violently, the vibrations growing stronger with each passing second.
"What’s that?" A hero asked as they all turned to look in the direction of the sound, and almost instantly, all their faces fell into a deep frown.
"Eeeek!!!" The shrill sound tore through the air as a horde of beast burst out from the streets in their numbers, blocking the entire sides of the street, like an army.
Zombies, orcs, Lizardn, Kamacuras all marched in unison while dark wyverns filled the sky.
All the heroes instantly stood battle ready looking ahead.
Nectron turned to Selena giving her a hand, "Please, things are about to get ssy" he said looking ahead with a distant gaze.
Selena gently held his hands.
He did the sa for the supervisor beside her. They felt their feet slowly rise up the ground.
"It should be safer from a higher altitude, don’t worry about the birds I’ll deal with them" He said before glancing down at lody, with a wave of his hand she too slowly rose into the air.
As the horde drew closer in a crazed race that shook the earth, the heroes waited patiently and at the last second the first to move was Night Ninja.
BOOM!
Blood exploded into the air as he weaved through the crowd of beasts, tearing them into shreds. All the others could see was a trail of black shadow that left blood and sliced parts in its wake.
Vixen smirked, "Showing off at the start of the battle, typical ninja" making the move seed to boost the morale of all the other heroes.
Vixen raised both hands ahead at the incoming surge of beast, her eyes focused as she closed both hands together.
"Rraaaa—"
"Shrieek!"
The space between the horde of beasts compressed like a sandwich, exploding violently with blood, Half the street that had been packed with beasts vanished beneath the attack.
But they had no ti to rejoice as the street was soon filled by a fleet of new beasts!
"We’ll take the left, you guys deal with the right" Stelar witch announced as she raised her hands. A beam of white light gathered above her head like a miniature sun. With a wave of her hand, it shot forward, incinerating everything in its path.
Selena watched from above in complete amazent, ’They’re really strong... Maybe I stayed around Nicholas a bit too much and forgot how strong this group was... bet he’d be surprised too’ She thought to herself, filling her worry pile up, she was uncertain if he was still alive or not.
Her thoughts were shattered by the shrill cry of a wyvern.
"Eeeek!" The wyvern blasted through the air with an astonishing speed reaching them in a second, Selena squinted her eyes, fear gripping her as she saw the beast attack.
SLAM!
Selena slowly opened her eyes when she realized she hadn’t felt anything. The wyvern’s body slamd straight into the invisible wall, its head cracked open, blood splattering on the invisible shield before it slipped, falling straight to the ground in death.
All the wyvern’s in the air quickly turned to the group seeing their fallen comrade and with anger, they sped towards the group.
"Are you going to be able to face them alone?" Selena asked with worry as she saw the wave of Wyverns flying straight at them.
"Worry not. As long as you’re beside , no harm will co to you." Nectron said with a confident pose his arms calmly crossed across his chest.
As the wyverns approached, Nectrons gaze hardened.
He raised his hands towards the incoming horde and pressed them together, his face twisting with difficulty as he did.
SQUASH!
The wyverns were pressed together leaving nothing but compressed blood in the wake of the destruction.
Despite the endless tide of beasts, the heroes showed no signs of being overwheld.
It truly looked like they would stand their own against the horde of beasts and slowly through strained effort, the number of beasts began to dwindle.
"At this rate, we can actually make it!" Rope girl said as she snapped the neck of an orc with her rope.
"Splitting into teams helped a lot" Vixen agreed as she cleared out the few beasts, beads of sweat rolling down her face.
The endless horde was thinning.
They were exhausted.
Injured and running low on stamina.
But victory finally seed possible.
[Dragons]
Everyone froze, dread crawling up their spine as the voice echoed through the entire town.
[Beings of ultimate destruction, their unfathomable strength almost incomparable to anything humans can muster. What would a dragon look like in an apocalypse?]
The air above the town tore open. Every hero instinctively looked up as an enormous silhouette began taking shape within the fracture.
Nectron’s eyes widened in horror, his hands slipping down from his chest.
