Chapter 264: You Would Only Harm Yourself At This Point!

Adam glanced at Valentine.

"Uh..."

"Mon dieu, Mr. Edrei! I am not a child!" Valentine interrupted before Adam could speak. "If I tell you that I eat properly, then I do!"

Mr. Edrei shot him a withering glare. "I don’t believe you. You stuttered, and that’s what you do when you lie."

Valentine frowned, parting his lips to say sothing, but Adam spoke first.

"He does not!" He shook his head, imdiately going down on his knees. "Forgive , young master, but I am worried about you as well." He glanced at Valentine, who was scowling at him as though he could kill him if not for Mr. Edrei’s presence.

"Go on." Mr. Edrei urged him.

Adam shifted his attention to him. He continued, "My young master has not been eating properly. He has been having a constant loss of appetite. Not only that, but he rarely takes blood now, and even when he does, he barely takes enough. I do not know what is going on." He shook his head.

Mr. Edrei’s expression turned aghast, and he instantly looked at Valentine with widened eyes.

"Adam, please leave us. I’d like to talk to him privately."

"Yes, sir!" Adam nodded and stood up to his feet. He slightly bowed and left the room, shutting the door.

Mr. Edrei turned, facing Valentine, who was awkwardly scratching his neck.

"Why didn’t you inform

of this? How long has this been going on, Valentine?"

Valentine pinched between his brows. "It’s not a big deal, uncle. I’ll be fine in a short while. I am sure this is just so of those weird things that happen to the body sotis." Mr. Edrei was his uncle—the older brother of his mother.

Mr. Edrei rubbed his temple in deep stress.

"Valentine, do you understand the sort of risk you are at?"

Valentine let out a soft breath and walked over to sit down on the sofa. He crossed his legs as though unbothered.

Mr. Edrei’s expression darkened. "Valentine—"

"Uncle, allow

to be. There is nothing I can do about it, my gosh! Are you expecting

to cry about it?" Valentine interrupted him before he could speak, causing him to deeply frown.

Mr. Edrei stepped over to stand before him. He glared at him, annoyed. "You are not taking your life seriously, Valentine!"

Valentine looked at him. "aning?"

"You are sick! Don’t you get it?" Mr. Edrei yelled at him. "Your body is weak, and you are not doing anything about it!"

"In our kind, you and your mother are the only ones to have ever suffered illness, and the worst part is that I don’t even know the cure for it. I don’t know what to do or how to help you. Are you forgetting that what truly killed your mother was this illness? Although it is not contactable, it is inheritable. You inherited it from her, and I am trying to find a cure for you, a way to heal and save you, but you don’t seem to care. Why?" He appeared confused.

Valentine looked at him, expressionless.

"What is the point, uncle? I am still going to die soday, just like my mother. It’s useless to fight for anything when the possibility of finding a cure is about two percent." He chuckled, amused.

"I know that it is affecting my body, and it is the reason why I have been having a loss of appetite and so on, but that is fine. It will eventually stop. This is not the first ti it has occurred."

He shrugged, standing up from the couch. "Listen, uncle, I know that I will die eventually, unlike you all, but...It doesn’t really bother , so it shouldn’t bother you as well. While I am still alive, I will make the most of it."

He proceeded to walk past Mr. Edrei, but Mr. Edrei grabbed his wrist, stopping him. "Have you spoken to your brother?"

Valentine ca to a stop. "What?" He looked over at him.

"Draven, have you spoken to him about it? Does he know?" Mr. Edrei asked.

Valentine loured, displeased. "Tell him for what?"

"What do you an by "for what?" Mr. Edrei scrunched his brows, confused.

"Uncle, there is no need for Draven to know," Valentine replied.

Mr. Edrei questioned. "And why so? Don’t you think he might be able to help you sohow? I know he cares for you. He always did since you were a kid, even if others didn’t. Have you forgotten?"

"I have not forgotten anything." Valentine waved his hand.

"Then what haven’t you told him?" Mr. Edrei further questioned. "Valentine, even if you don’t tell others, you should at least tell Draven. You don’t have to be alone, please."

Valentine chuckled, amused. "Uncle, Draven does not care for

like you thi—."

"He does!" Mr. Edrei glared at him. "You are too attached to him, which is why you expect much more from him, but you have to understand that Draven does not have complex issues like you do for him. Now, I’m not blaming you for having a brother complex for him, as that is very understandable since he has always been your savior since you were a child."

"But don’t you think that is all the more reason why you should tell him?"

Valentine stared at him and suddenly glared. "I do not have brother complex issues!"

"Valentine, will you listen to ?" Mr. Edrei scolded. "I asked you to get married and be qualified for the inheritance. If you did that, then you would be able to get your hands on one of the artifacts, which would definitely heal you. But you said no! You have a way to save yourself, but you—"

"Uncle!" Valentine interrupted him.

"You are aware, and you know the problem I have! Don’t you ever again bring up marriage unless you want

to die before my ti!"

He asked, "Did you save

while I was being hurt repeatedly? Did you speak to my father? Did you co to my rescue? No, you never did! You were too afraid and a coward to save your own nephew, yet here you stand before , suggesting marriage to . You didn’t even let

stay with you! Do not embarrass , please!"

He turned around, leaving the room and slamming the door shut in fury.

Mr. Edrei stared at the door and slowly exhaled. "What do I do with you? How do I even stop you from wallowing in your own fears?"

"You would only harm yourself at this point." He appeared deeply cynical.
