After coming back from the supermarket, Shi Su insisted on having the old man from the clinic downstairs co up to check on him. Jing Jihan said it was nothing, but Shi Su insisted, so she still asked soone to co up for an examination. In the end, it was confird that there were no major issues, and Shi Su’s face finally looked a lot better.
Before the old man left, he left a small box of ointnt for promoting blood circulation and dissipating bruises, telling Shi Su to apply it on him, otherwise, the bruise on his chest would be there for days.
Shi Mianmian very obediently went to see the doctor grandpa off downstairs and then bounced back ho, peeking at the bedroom door to see her mommy applying dicine to Uncle Ji Han.
Shi Su had just opened Ji Han’s clothes again, rembering that scene earlier in the supermarket. She felt a bit embarrassed, but since it wasn’t convenient for him to apply the dicine himself, she thought she’d finish applying it and then leave him be.
As a result, Shi Mianmian stood at the bedroom door like a little thief, leaning on the door and grinning as she watched them.
"Shi Mianmian, you can’t just watch, go back to your room." Shi Su said as she seriously applied dicine to the man’s chest.
Mianmian didn’t leave and said confidently, "Mommy can pull Uncle’s clothes to apply dicine, why can’t I watch? Mommy, you’re not even marrying Uncle, but I’m going to marry him in the future!"
Shi Su initially pretended not to see Jing Jihan’s expression, trying hard to ignore the inexplicable awkwardness. After all, he’d been taken care of at her house for so many days, what was there to be awkward about?
But Shi Mianmian’s cheeky words imdiately doubled the awkward atmosphere in the room.
She suddenly raised her eyes, and because of the posture of leaning over to apply the dicine, when she raised her eyes, her sight was parallel with the man’s sitting on the bed, much closer than usual.
Jing Jihan made no move, seemingly not intending to resist her tiger-like act of forcibly pinning him to the bedside.
The man’s gaze was like the night, dark as water, yet emitted a light that inexplicably stirred one’s heart. Shi Su’s hand trembled on the dicine box, and she suddenly let go of his collar that she had been pulling open, taking a step back. Then she glared at Shi Mianmian: "I’ve already warned you more than once today, do you want to confiscate next month’s chocolates?"
Mianmian pouted, looking pitifully at Jing Jihan with big eyes.
Jing Jihan was about to speak when Shi Su directly threw the dicine box at him, almost hitting his wound again, but he quickly caught it.
Shi Su turned towards the bedroom door: "Cuteness won’t work. Your Uncle Ji Han won’t stay in our house forever. He’s going to leave sooner or later. Protecting you for a mont, he can’t protect you for a lifeti. Shi Mianmian, you’ve been too much lately, always ignoring what Mommy says. Nothing gets through to you unless I’m really angry, isn’t it?"
Shi Mianmian stood still at the door. Hearing Shi Su’s words, her already pouting mouth gradually drooped, her eyes reddened as she sniffled, and suddenly she turned around and ran straight back to the children’s room.
Jing Jihan opened the ointnt himself, applying it while hearing Mianmian’s sobbing footsteps as she ran back to the children’s room, he sighed, "Why take it out on the child?"
Shi Su didn’t want to explain.
Mianmian was growing increasingly attached to Ji Han. She used to be very vague about the word "dad" and never ntioned wanting one, but lately, she’s been saying it often.
The smarter the child, the more they hide their worries, and they’re very sensitive. It’s not hard to see Mianmian’s desire for a dad, coupled with her dependence on Ji Han...
He will indeed leave sooner or later, maybe tomorrow, maybe next week, maybe next month. The more attached Mianmian is now, the more disappointed and longing she’ll feel later.
If I don’t cut off Mianmian’s innocent little thoughts now, it’ll be harder to console her in the future.
