In Chen Yu's laboratory, the Glasses Doctor was observing a transparent cage with several trainee doctors arranged by Professor Kube, noting down the various reactions of the small white mice inside; while Tashiro Nanao and Nakagawa Susumu were sitting in front of the microscope, observing and analyzing the collected experintal samples.
Although the atmosphere was not particularly oppressive or tense, everyone was very focused, which made the laboratory very quiet.
Doctor Higashiyama, because his wedding was approaching, took a day off to go select a wedding dress with his bride-to-be, therefore he was not in the laboratory today, and Jounouchi Hiromi temporarily took over the work he was responsible for.
Although she had not been in a laboratory since graduating from college, Jounouchi Hiromi tried her best to recall the animal experints she had perford in school and carefully handled the experintal samples in her hands, ticulously recording their changes.
Animal experintation certainly involved more than just injecting experintal drugs into white mice and then observing their reactions.
Animal experintation is a very detailed and tedious task; from the mont a white mouse is selected as an experintal subject and injected with a trial drug, its behavior and various physical conditions must be recorded.
After that, blood and other samples must be collected from the white mouse for analysis; sotis, the mouse must also be dissected to observe its internal organs' reactions to the dication.
Of course, this is cruel for the laboratory mice. They must endure the pain brought by the large doses of experintal drugs, along with potential side effects or even death, and then their bodies are dissected for study after death—from a humanitarian perspective, this is undoubtedly cruel.
But animal experintation is an indispensable part of dical research. In dical studies, we cannot experint directly on living humans, but rather we must acquire valuable experintal data through animal experints to research and analyze, identify problems, and thereby work out results that can be applied to humans.
One could say that animal experintation plays a crucial role in dical research. Many significant scientific achievents in the dical field have been attained through animal experints.
While it is indeed cruel for the animals, the significant role it plays in the advancent of human civilization cannot be overshadowed simply by calling it cruelty.
Because animal experintation plays such an important role, the experintal animals chosen are not just any ordinary animals; under normal circumstances, these must be SPF-grade animals, which are Specific Pathogen Free.
SPF animals are those in which no specific microorganisms or parasites are present in the body, usually referring to healthy animals without infectious diseases. The cleanliness level of the air required is at least Class 10,000. SPF animals are the most widely used experintal animals in the world.
Their origin can co from the offspring of germ-free animal breeding or from being delivered by caesarean section and then reared by SPF parent animals in an isolated barrier facility environnt.
Such animals cannot be obtained casually; they must be specially purchased, and Jounouchi Hiromi's main responsibility within Chen Yu's research team was the very important task of purchasing and managing the laboratory animals.
However, besides purchasing and managing experintal animals, Jounouchi Hiromi was also capable of performing animal experints as a substitute for Doctor Higashiyama. After all, she was once a very skilled anesthesiologist and is familiar with tasks such as drug injections and observing reactions.
Just as everyone in the lab was working thodically, Chen Yu entered the lab with Kyuuzai Ryousen. Although also a mber of the research team, Kyuuzai Ryousen seed more like a lackey following Chen Yu than an experintal researcher, which is why he didn't have specific tasks in the laboratory.
Kyuuzai Ryousen himself didn't mind this as, having received the heritage of Crow Feather Mage, he seed to be more focused on becoming transcendent rather than a doctor.
"Professor!" "Professor Chen!" Upon seeing Chen Yu walk into the laboratory, the trainee doctors following the Glasses Doctor hurriedly greeted him.
"Carry on with your work, no need to greet ." Chen Yu nodded at the trainee doctors arranged by Professor Kube as a form of acknowledgnt, then turned his attention to the Glasses Doctor, but for a mont, he couldn't rember his na: "What was... your na again?"
The Glasses Doctor felt an indescribable awkwardness and helplessness as Chen Yu yet again couldn't recall his na. Approaching Chen Yu, he managed to hold back his emotions and softly said to Chen Yu, "Professor, my na is Mamoru Hara."
"Oh, right! Dr. Hara..." Chen Yu finally uttered his na after glancing at the na card pinned to Hara's chest, which made him feel as if the curse on Hara's na had grown stronger, but he did not dwell on it. Instead, he asked the Glasses Doctor, "Dr. Hara, how are the trainee doctors arranged by Professor Kube performing?"
"Director Kube arranged for five trainee doctors to assist us. Three of them are this year's graduates from the University of Tokyo dical School, and two are doctoral students he is ntoring this year.
They have good skill levels and attitudes, not showing the common laxness of their generation." Despite feeling resigned that Chen Yu couldn't rember his na, Hara spoke earnestly about work matters.
Upon hearing the report from the Glasses Doctor, Chen Yu nodded in satisfaction: "Hm... Dr. Hara, assign them so unimportant but troubleso tasks to complete independently to see how they handle situations. Pick the second-best perforr to manage the other trainee doctors."
"The second-best perforr?" The request surprised the Glasses Doctor. Usually, the best perforr would be chosen, but Chen Yu wanted the second-best, which seed counterintuitive.
Chen Yu nodded, confirming Hara hadn't misheard: "That's right, the second-best perforr will manage the other trainee doctors. As for the best perforr, have him or her assist Nakagawa and Tashiro as an assistant. Do you understand what I an?"
"Understood, Professor. I know what to do," the Glasses Doctor nodded, indicating he grasped Chen Yu's intention.
Seeing that the Glasses Doctor understood, Chen Yu patted his shoulder with satisfaction and walked toward Jounouchi Hiromi.
