Despite having slept for several days without waking up, Josh didn’t seem particularly troubled, likely due to his natural stamina. He did feel a bit dizzy going down the stairs, just as Emma had warned him, but with her help, he managed to reach the dining table.
"Co on, eat up."
In the short ti he’d been asleep, their mother had sohow made an enormous amount of food. There were thick pancakes stacked like a tower, grilled steak, a bowl full of boiled eggs, thick sandwiches stuffed with fillings, potato salad, bacon, and even whole grilled corn on the cob. The table was overflowing with food.
At first, Josh had just felt hungry, but the mont the sll of the food hit him, his appetite flared up intensely, and the world seed to spin. Without hesitation, he sat down and began to eat as if ravenous. It was the first ti Emma and their mother had seen him eat so quickly and so much. They exchanged surprised glances as Josh, completely absorbed in his al, didn’t even notice them.
He ate so quickly that by the ti he reached for the maple syrup beside his pancakes, he had already devoured nearly half of his food. Once he felt sowhat full, he began to slow down, feeling more like himself. When he looked up, all that food that had been so plentiful was gone.
"Ahh."
Letting out a satisfied sigh, Josh then returned to his usual eating pace, casually chewing through the remaining food. He was going to finish it all. Watching him, Emma suddenly felt envious. How could he eat so much and not gain weight? It wasn’t fair.
Emma pouted, but their mother, smiling endlessly, just looked at Josh fondly.
"Do you need anything else?"
"No, I’m good. Thanks."

With a thank-you, Josh grabbed several slices of bacon with his fork and shoved them into his mouth. While chewing the bacon, he scooped mashed potatoes and placed them into his dish, then spread mayonnaise on a piece of bread and topped it with potatoes before putting it in his mouth. Emma and their mother watched him in silence.
Finally, after Josh had finished everything on the table, even the huge chocolate cake and coffee for dessert that could easily serve four or five people, their mother spoke up. Josh had already eaten nearly half the massive cake before she finally opened her mouth.
"Um, Josh. How are you feeling? Is there anything strange?"
"I’m good. I’m full now."
Josh answered promptly. After finishing the al their mother had prepared, he seed to be back to his usual self. He flashed a wide grin, but their mother just gave an uncertain smile. She seed hesitant, like she was unsure how to bring up sothing important. Josh steeled himself, vowing not to be surprised or flustered by whatever she said. Depending on the situation, he might even have to comfort her.
Has she gone bankrupt?
If the house was being sold, their mother would be shocked. She’d probably have to find a cheaper place to rent, maybe even look for a coach who worked with pro teams... He didn’t mind the idea of becoming a professional football player if it stabilized their life, and it seed like a decent option. While mulling over this vague thought, their mother finally spoke.
"Well, you’ve been asleep for such a long ti... And I was thinking we should go to the hospital and get so tests..."
Josh also felt a bit uneasy about having slept so long. But with their family’s situation, it wasn’t like they could just spend money on a doctor without knowing whether there was really anything wrong.
"Oh, it’s fine, mom. I must’ve just been really tired."
Hearing that, Emma imdiately rembered the events before Josh had fallen asleep. She clenched her fist under the table, torn between whether she should confront him or let it go. But no one knew of her inner turmoil, and their mother spoke again.
"No, that’s not it... The reason you slept so long... We should get tests to find out..."
"The reason?"
Josh paused, taken aback. He realized there might have been tests done while he was asleep. Could it be sothing serious like an incurable disease? Trying to hide his rising anxiety, he waited for his mother’s next words. She spoke slowly.
"I think... you’ve manifested, Josh."
"Who?"
"...You."
"..."
Josh took a few seconds to process the words. His expression tightened, and he asked slowly.
"Manifested? ?"
"Yes."
"As an Alpha?"
His mother hesitated for a mont. The unsettling feeling grew in her, and she carefully shook her head.
"I think you manifested as an Oga, Josh."
"..."
This ti, it took Josh even longer to process her words. After a few seconds of stunned silence, he finally asked again.
"Oga...?"
"Yeah, Oga."
Suddenly, Emma interjected, and their mother tried to stop her, but Emma quickly cut her off.
"Yes, Oga! Not Alpha, but Oga! Josh manifested as an Oga, do you get it? Oga! Oga!"
It felt like Josh had heard the word "Oga" a hundred tis. He stared wide-eyed at Emma, then slowly turned his gaze to his mother, as if trying to understand what she ant. His mother looked away, murmuring softly.
"Emma’s right, Josh."
"..."
Josh, lost for words, stared blankly. After a long pause, his mother continued.
"Your grandmother was an Oga... I don’t know if it’s so kind of recessive trait, but... we should really get you to the hospital for more tests."
She kept talking, but Josh didn’t hear her. The only thing in his mind was one word.
Oga.
I... manifested as an Oga?
Shocked, Josh couldn’t speak. He seed almost frozen, unable to process it. Emma felt a pang of guilt as she saw how stunned he was. She had always known he would find out eventually, but the awkwardness lingered.
Both their mother and Emma sat across from him, waiting for Josh’s reaction. But after a long pause, he slowly stood up and staggered out of his seat. They heard his footsteps as he ascended the stairs, and soon, Josh had gone into his room. He didn’t co out until the next morning.
