Chapter 78: Chapter 78: Slaughtering the Pig and Dividing the at

Walking side by side, they watched as Chen Yuhe walked further and further away until her figure gradually disappeared into the distance. Mo Jiaolan suddenly turned her head and asked, "The boar is too big to eat all at once, and there’s no place to store it. How about I take it to the hotel and help you sell it?"

"Does this at fetch a good price?" Ling Feng asked.

Mo Jiaolan smiled, "Now that pork is so expensive, wild boar at is fresh ga and naturally priced a bit higher. I estimate it could sell for fifty or sixty yuan per jin without a problem."

Ling Feng thought about it, after subtracting the boar’s head, hooves, and offal, this boar should yield about two hundred jins of at. At fifty yuan per jin, that would be ten thousand yuan.

But then he thought, last ti he had already shared wolf at with everyone, and if he took this wild boar back to slaughter, the villagers would naturally see. If he didn’t share so with everyone, it might not look good. So, he shook his head, "Let’s forget it, I don’t lack that ten thousand yuan or so. I’ll go back and share it with everybody."

"That’s fine too, whatever you say," Mo Jiaolan nodded.

Those simple words, however, tasted different to Ling Feng’s ears.

When a girl says ’I’ll listen to you’, it gives off a particularly obedient feeling.

So he couldn’t help but take Mo Jiaolan’s hand, "Jiaolan, no matter what problems you encounter, I’m always on your side. I hope there will be a chance to help you in the future."

With her hand being held, Mo Jiaolan was sowhat surprised and her face blushed slightly as she lowered her head and said, "I know, no matter what the future holds, I’m already very touched by your sentint."

Ling Feng smiled and did not let go of her hand, continuing to lead her towards the mountain’s exterior.

The two walked through the fields like a couple, silent yet seemingly feeling a warm current flowing between them—a sensation only those who have truly been in love can understand.

Unfortunately, all roads co to an end. It felt like they hadn’t walked for long, but they had already reached the entrance of the village.

Mo Jiaolan gently withdrew her hand, "Yuhe must be getting anxious. Let’s hurry."

Watching her quicken her pace and walk ahead, Ling Feng sighed inwardly, liking both and wanting both, what should he do?

Hurrying to catch up with Mo Jiaolan, the two arrived at the entrance to their ho only to see Chen Yuhe indeed looking impatient, sitting on the tricycle about to make a call on her phone.

"No need to call, we’re back!" Ling Feng shouted.

"You two are so slow, were you dawdling on purpose?" Chen Yuhe asked.

"Who says? To let you have wild boar at sooner, I even ran part of the way!" Ling Feng laughed.

Without caring whether the words were true or false, Chen Yuhe said, "Then let’s get to work fast!"

"Wait for

a few minutes. This pig is too big; I need professional tools!" Ling Feng said and quickly walked toward the village.

When he arrived at Old Sun’s doorway, the place where there had been a fire was still pitch black. Ling Feng called out from outside the yard, "Uncle Sun, are you at ho?"

"I’m here, what’s up?" Old Sun erged from the house and asked.

"Uncle Sun, I’ve got a pig and I want to borrow a few knives from you," Ling Feng said with a smile.

Old Sun was known in the village as the pig butcher, and in the winter nearing the Chinese New Year, when anyone needed to butcher a pig, they would ask for his assistance, so naturally, he had the tools.

Hearing Ling Feng’s request, Old Sun chuckled, "Butchering a pig in the scorching sumr? Why borrow my tools? You helped save my house from the fire last ti and I haven’t thanked you yet. I’ll butcher the pig for you!"

After saying this, he turned around, went back inside the house, and quickly ca out carrying a long, wrapped package.

Ling Feng couldn’t have asked for more. With Old Sun’s help, he could save a lot of effort despite his average butchering skills.

An elder and a young man walked back, quickly arriving at the clinic’s entrance. When Old Sun saw the wild boar in the cart, his eyes widened in shock, "The pig you ntioned, is it this one?"

"Yeah, a wild boar is still a pig!" Ling Feng laughed.

Old Man Sun was dumbfounded, "How did you manage to catch it?"

"It took a lot of effort, it almost killed . Luckily, I have a big life!" Ling Feng said, pretending to still be shaken by the experience.

"Alright, lad, you really have so skill. Last ti you killed a wolf, this ti a wild boar, I guess next ti it’ll be a bear, huh?" Old Man Sun laughed.

Ling Feng knew it was a joke and just chuckled without responding. He reached out, dragged the wild boar over, and laid it on the cutting board.

Just this display of strength was already astounding. Old Man Sun was startled for a mont before approaching, "What a fellow, what a waste not to use that strength for moving bricks!"

"..."

Ling Feng, not expecting the old man to have such a humorous side, replied after a speechless mont, "Please hurry up. Once the at and offals are ready, I plan to share them with everyone."

"You’re a thoughtful kid. No rush, we have plenty of ti!"

Old Man Sun rubbed his hands together, a gleam in his eyes, then pulled out a willow-leaf-shaped long knife and muttered to himself, "Didn’t expect to land a big job today, let’s do this!"

The shining blade of the knife flashed, and a large gash was imdiately opened up in the wild boar’s neck!

"Ling Feng, co help, flip it belly up!" Old Man Sun called out.

Ling Feng had seen pigs being slaughtered countless tis since he was young and was very familiar with the process, so he quickly stepped forward to assist.

An old man and a young lad got busy, and in no ti, the huge body of the wild boar was divided into pieces.

Almost every tool in the house was used. Mo Jiaolan and Chen Yuhe were busily moving in and out, and every basin, large and small, was brought out. Still, there was no place to put so much at.

As villagers who were passing by had started to gather around, Ling Feng quickly shouted, "Stop watching, help

call people over to share the at, or we won’t have anywhere to put it!"

"Should’ve just said so, been waiting for that!" The person ran off imdiately.

After a little while, villagers rushed over. Those who were observant saw that the two were too busy, and the two beautiful girls were clueless, so they stepped forward to help clean the intestines, chop large pieces of at into smaller ones, making Ling Feng’s ho lively once again.

Many hands make light work. Different parts and offals were sorted out, and afterward, everyone lined up with their basins to receive a share of everything. How to cook it at ho was up to their own skills.

After busying for a while, the pork was almost fully distributed. In the end, quite a few ribs and loin at were left, along with one front leg and one hind leg.

"Uncle Sun, take a leg ho for yourself, curing it would make a great dish to accompany a drink!" Ling Feng said.

But Old Man Sun waved his hands, "No need, keep it yourself, I just want this!"

As he spoke, he picked up the pig’s heart he had hidden under the table earlier, "This little thing is my favorite!"

"Then take so ribs as well?" Ling Feng felt that one pig’s heart was too little, and with so much left over, he couldn’t eat it all at ho and he feared it might develop a strange sll if it was left overnight.

"No need for that, you figure out what to do with the rest. I’m satisfied with just this," Old Man Sun replied.

After saying so, Old Man Sun tidied up the knives and tools, picked up the pig’s heart, and headed ho humming a tune.

Looking at the mountain of at in front of him, Ling Feng scratched his head, then turned to look at Mo Jiaolan, "How about we take the rest to the city after we’ve had dinner?"

Mo Jiaolan smiled slightly, "Sounds good, I’ll follow your lead."
