Chapter 64: Chapter 64 There’s a wolf!

Ling Feng didn’t expect such a strong reaction from him and smiled, "Don’t be so agitated, man. I’m not saying I won’t pay you. Your job here is done; take the money and head back ho!"

While speaking, he took out a stack of cash from his pocket and handed it over.

Lao Du was reluctant to accept it, but he took the money nonetheless and turned his head to instruct the workers to start loading the vehicle. He didn’t want to deal with Ling Feng any longer.

However, Ling Feng didn’t want to end the conversation and called out to his retreating figure, "Lao Du, if I need to produce more in a while, you’ll have to co help

again, and I’ll pay you extra!"

"Knock it off. Are you so rich you can’t spend it all? You’ve already spent almost ten thousand this ti; you’re thinking of a next ti?" Lao Du turned around and glanced at him.

"Of course, this ti was just a trial. I want to scale up in the future!" Ling Feng said with a laugh.

Lao Du was speechless, feeling the young man might have so issues, so he humored him with a nod, "Fine, fine, fine. It’s not my money. You do whatever you want with it; I just do the work and get paid!"

"Good, it’s a deal then!"

Ling Feng smiled slightly, stepped forward to help the workers load the boiler onto the truck, then cleaned up the site a bit before watching Lao Du and the others leave.

Turning around, he saw the grass was covered with bags of cultivation material. He went over and began the inoculation process.

Anyone who has worked with edible fungi knows that such a thod of operation is completely against the rules, even gravely mistaken!

But with his special abilities, Ling Feng didn’t want to be bound by conventional thods. He poked his finger into the bag, inserted a small piece of button mushroom fragnt, and the inoculation was considered complete!

While busy at work, Chen Yuhe also arrived. After dinner, she had complained of sore legs and a painful back, not wanting to go anywhere but to lie down at ho. Later, after Ling Feng gave her a dicinal Pill, it seed the dicine had taken effect.

Seeing him working alone, Chen Yuhe stepped forward and offered, "Let

help you."

"That would be great!"

Ling Feng naturally couldn’t refuse. With two thousand bags, even with his quick hands, he couldn’t possibly finish in a short ti.

He handed her a portion of the fragnts and, after demonstrating how to do it, Chen Yuhe learned the process.

So she knelt down and began to inoculate in mimicry, curiously asking, "With so many bags, how many mushrooms are you planning to grow?"

"Not sure yet, but I’m estimating there should be at least one to two thousand pounds." Ling Feng replied.

Chen Yuhe did a quick calculation in her head, then her eyes widened in astonishnt, "A thousand pounds, that’s a hundred thousand!"

"Yeah, conservatively speaking, it should be about a hundred thousand. Of course, I’m not a greedy person, but more is always better!" Ling Feng said with a laugh.

"Hmph, smooth talker!" Chen Yuhe gave him a sideways glance, then turned back to continue the inoculation.

Seeing her back turned to him, with a large patch of her fair skin showing between her shorts and T-shirt, Ling Feng felt his throat go dry, so he stared hard for a mont before returning to his work with focus.

While inoculating, he found it strange that Li Shiyun hadn’t co yet.

What he didn’t know was that last night, during the heavy rain, an SUV had driven into Shiliu Village and taken her away.

Li Shiyun’s family background was much stronger than Ling Feng had imagined, and far surpassing the strength of Mo Jiaolan’s family. As for why she was taken away, Ling Feng would find out later.

Taking advantage of the cool morning air, the two people in the field didn’t stop working until nine o’clock when they finally completed the inoculation process.

"Oh my back, it feels even worse now!"

Chen Yuhe straightened up, grimacing in pain.

Ling Feng laughed. The girl worked quite hard, not slow at all, and showed none of the airs of a pampered rich girl, which was really rare.

So he said with a smile, "No worries, when we go back, I’ll give you another dicinal Pill and you’ll feel better in no ti!"

"Oh right, I almost forgot to ask, what kind of dicine is that? How is it so powerful?"

Chen Yuhe knew her sore waist and legs were due to overexertion from yesterday and had experienced this before. Usually, even with painkillers, it would take at least two or three days to recover!

But after taking Ling Feng’s dicinal pills, it only took more than ten minutes for the pain to completely vanish, which was miraculous!

"That’s my secret recipe. Ordinary people can’t even get it if they want to!" Ling Feng teased.

"Whatever, don’t bother telling

then. All the work is done; should we head back ho now?"

Chen Yuhe curled her lip, noticing the sun high in the sky and the temperature beginning to rise.

"Let’s go ho. To thank you for your help today, let’s have sothing good for lunch!" Ling Feng stood up and said with a smile.

"Great, what are we having?" Chen Yuhe asked with eager anticipation.

She had already tasted Ling Feng’s cooking and thought it was pretty good, giving her approval to his culinary skills.

Ling Feng already had an idea in mind, "Can’t say for sure right now; once Wang Cai and I co back from hunting in the mountains, we’ll know what we’re having."

"Are you going to catch rabbits?" Chen Yuhe asked, catching on.

"I’ve had enough of that lately. Let’s change things up; I’ll catch pheasants and pick so mushrooms along the way," Ling Feng replied.

"Then I’m coming too!" Chen Yuhe imdiately perked up.

Checking the ti, it was half-past nine in the morning, and Ling Feng nodded, "Okay, then hurry back and change your clothes, we’ll try to get back by noon!"

"You got it!"

Forgetting about her sore waist, Chen Yuhe bounced back to the clinic.

A while later, a tricycle left Shiliu Village and entered the mountains to the west.

After half an hour of walking, the two reached the foot of the mountain, and Ling Feng pointed at the dense woods ahead, "You go pick mushrooms over there; I’ll catch the pheasants. It’ll be more efficient this way."

Chen Yuhe hesitated and then asked sowhat fearfully, "There aren’t any wild beasts in the woods, are there?"

"It’s okay, if you get scared, just call for Wang Cai. He’s the most formidable beast in the mountains!" Ling Feng assured her.

"Okay, then." Chen Yuhe nodded, picked up her little bamboo basket, and walked towards the hillside.

Ling Feng glanced at her retreating figure and said to Wang Cai, "Don’t go too far. You’re only allowed to catch two rabbits today. If this keeps up, you’ll catch all the rabbits in the mountains!"

Wang Cai barked and also rushed after Chen Yuhe up the hillside.

Ling Feng turned back and climbed the opposite slope.

Pheasants usually appeared on barren slopes as the woodland was not suited for flying. Being attacked there left them with little chance of escape, so they preferred to forage in open areas.

Midway up the slope, Ling Feng looked around. He quickly spotted several pheasants pecking for insects in the grass, so he crouched down and stealthily approached them.

Just as he was about to pounce to catch a pheasant, he heard a cry of alarm from the woods across the way!

Imdiately after, Chen Yuhe’s cry for help ca, tearful, "Help!"

Upon hearing this, Ling Feng panicked and abandoned the chase for the pheasants. With a leap, he jumped down the slope, making his way to the valley floor in just a few bounds.

Then he didn’t stop, his muscles tensed, he exerted his full strength, and sprinted up the mountainside!

Before he got close, he heard several wolf howls; these were not from Wang Cai but from other wolves. And from the sounds of it, there was more than one!
